All the songs that participate in any given year must have been composed in that same year. So the songs in Eurovision are always brand new. In Spain's case, there is a competition on which the representative is chosen, with the song they defend. The system in this festival / competition is alike to the main Eurovision even, with a jury and public voting. So yes, the song is well known. However, I must say that I have never seen in many years the public singing Spain's song in Spanish. This has never happened before for Spain.

You're the first reviewer I've seen of this song (out of lots so far) who mentioned Carmen! I noticed that too. It's only at the very start, but it seems like too much of a coincidence to not be deliberate. 😊

Gåte are fantastic. I recommend Leprous and Kalandra, two other brilliant Norwegian bands. Leprous is an insanely good band.

Am 56 of age and though living in different parts of the world: Europe is the boiling point of cultures. We speak at least one or two other languages, many speak 3-4 other languages. That you don't get in the US or the UK. English is itself just a mix up of Continental European languages, 30% French. Loads of Scandinavian Old Norse 500 years before the Vikings came and a mix of other Wedst-Germanic languages. Note: or else the predominant language on that Isle would still be Celtic.

Nemo started in Opera and Musical, and launched 16y old his rap career, became the biggest rapper in Switzerland within 2 years. That's what the classical/musical and the rap part stand for.

Honestamente, dudo mucho que este grupo, tenga algun otro mensaje en el mundo musical que transmitirnos despues de esta canción, que siinceramente es un revival, y por tanto no original, de la musica electrinica del siglo pasado. Pero es que nonmejora nada a los grandes de los. 80 y 90 en el. Pop electrónico. Es pegadiza y olvidadiza. La pregunta que me hago, bien señora y. Señor de nebulosa y la cara B del "single", o las otros 9-12 canciones del disco como serian?. Quizas no quiera saberlo.

The staging, with the lights and revolving platform, I think it's supposed to be her in a forest, with the sun just breaking through the trees. It fits with the lyrics.

There ate better translations out there. Gåte is a folkrock band. The lyrics are a version of a 1000 year old song. Sort of a version of snow white. Evil stepmother is jelous of the maiden as she is sent away to the kings court. The stepmother turns her in to a needle and then a sword but she is still loved by everyone so the stepmother turns her in to a wolf cursed to forever roam the dark woods. To free herself from the curse she will have to drink her brothers blood. The maiden/wolf finally breaks the curse by killing the stepmother ( who is pregnant with the maidens half brother) and so drinks the blood of her brother… The melody of the original song is lost but the text is preserved. The tradition of very long tales in many verses and repetetative choruses while people join hands and dance in a row is still alive on the Färö islands.
