      @ChinaDriven 9 днів тому

      Generally battery fires are more often reported or seen on social media. From my understanding fires in fuel cars is still more common but it’s not “news worthy enough” or doesn’t get enough engagement online. BYD has sold hundreds of thousands of battery vehicles. The percentage of something going wrong is ever present in anything. But social media amplifies the small number of cases of battery fires. Obviously battery fires are hard to deal with. BYD has shown multiple times they test their batteries beyond national safety levels and the industry normal. Showing ignition of their blade batteries takes a long time. You may be aware that Tesla Model Y made in Berlin are using BYD blade batteries.

    The Typical US politicians are imposing massive import tax for these amazing, high tech, great value electric cars due to well clearly $$. Protecting America is actually protection a tiny group of rich people, these same people were the same that decided to sent many productions to China to save money = bigger profits for them. In reality they are depriving their own Americans the access of these amazing great valued electric cars forcing them pay more or buy inferior cars and on top of it, what happened to the support of Green vehicles and the Environment? Extremely disturbing how American dont wake up and see that they are always the sacrifices.. Of course while Tesla is enjoying great success and profits in China without restriction, US is telling its own people that China will harvest all their datas via the cars LOL... for sure the Chinese government wants to know how many times one use the Mcdonald drive through or costco visit on a daily basis. Is Xpeng the most underrated car brand in China? The G9, G6 and X9 all seem to be great cars with very competitive price-to-value. But they don't sell that well overall..

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven 24 дні тому

      There's so much competition in the market. The G9 was a too expensive on launch and that dampened sales. The relaunch has been somewhat successful. The G6 & X9 represent great value but since they launched in a price war competitors who were originally developed to be in the plus 300,000RMB range are now selling in Xpeng's 200-300,000 range. So thats hurting sales. Xpeng realy doesn't want to move the xpeng brand down market. The addition of MONA sub-brand/model may lead to extra sales. But Xpeng has had a hard time.I also thing marketing yourself on your ADAS ability is a tough sell, hard to convince customers on a short test drive around the block that your ADAS is one of the leaders.

    Welcome back! Had been waiting for a couple of months to hear- I'm Will, and this is ChinaDriven. The X9 is departure from traditional box style MPVs especially evident not only at the front with the raked windscreen, but at the rear as well with a raked D-pillar resembling a stylish SUV. The interior seems to be interesting with an almost 180 degree recline function for the third-row which is unheard in the western car manufacturers. The mouse to control the screen in the second row seems to be more intuitive to use in theory than gesture control, I know in the Li Mega, the screen for the second row can be controlled via hand gestures. What are your thoughts on having a mouse like control vs. hand gestures? Which one would you have the Xpeng X9, Zeekr 009, or the Li Mega? A compro perhaps? As always, great content! Continue the good work, your content is very refreshing. Looking forward to seeing more awesome content!

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven 25 днів тому

      Yes took some time. Helped out wheelsboy on a couple of videos.😅 A controller is way easier to use that gesture control. But I do like the idea of gesture control, it's something I hope we see developed further. Especially in Li Auto with their voice + gesture control combination. I just had the Mega for a week. Did a 1000km in it. In terms of comfort I think the mega edges it. But it's a lot more money. The zeekr 009 has some neat features for business minded people, like the webcam for zoom calls. But the Xpeng X9 I feel strikes the balance between business and family. And the price is enticing. And rear wheel steer is a god send in tight areas and heavy traffic with a 5.2m long car

    • @jashshukla701
      @jashshukla701 25 днів тому

      @@ChinaDrivenMakes sense, for a starting price of 83 grand USD for the Li Mega is not exactly cheap compared to 40 grand for the XPeng X9. The Xpeng is definitely more accessible for the masses that way. With the Cd value of 0.227 for an MPV still not bad for the price. But yes, the Mega is more than just a people carrier. It showcases what an EV is capable of- lower Cd value, fast charging at 5C, and Maybach levels of comfort and refinement which is why the higher price tag. I feel all big vehicles should have rear-wheel steering as standard. What do you reckon?

    • @ChinaDriven

      I think the Mega just shows that Li Auto can build an EV platform and EVs with great tech and features. Something some people doubted. But going into the high 500K rmb end of the market and in the MPV market was just a surprising misstep. Too niche. I think they worried they would eat L-Series sales if they went straight to an SUV. @@ChinaDriven I went to Xpeng pop up booth at the mall in HK because of your video. My wife and I love the car and paid a deposit for pre-order. We have one concern however. The G6 for HK will all have NCM battery instead of LFP. Is this something we should worry about with regards to fire safety?

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven Місяць тому

      @@robocop581 I’ll say battery fires are overly publicised. Combustion car catches fire doesn’t generate as many click online as “battery fires” Stats generally point to petrol/diesel cars being more susceptible to fires. There was a spate of fires in Xpeng P7 early cars mostly attributed to the early CATL 811 NCM cells (high performance high power cells) but the cells have been redeveloped from my understanding In terms of safety familiarise yourself with lithium ion battery safety. Especially charging and battery levels. Lithium ion batteries should be kept between 20-80% ideally. You can charge to 100% if you plan to drive it but you shouldn’t store the car at 100% for prolonged periods of time is the general consensus.

      @@ChinaDriven Thanks for this. We do have battery options for the G6 in HK. The SR will have LFP while the LR NCM. Range is not an issue in HK as we can only drive within the Territory

    BYD, is still tied to dealership model, it’s not as safe, not as fast. Not as efficient, not as connected and a significant amount heavier. Has a shorter warranty, Still uses a key fob and doesn’t have auto pilot. The model 3 has global success due to some incredible engineering and features, but people don’t understand that just because the Tesla has a minimal interior, it by no means lacks substance. But no, it doesn’t have a heads up display.

    My only hangup is the price. I don't care about styling, the interior is great, the recharge times amazing (assuming there are chargers available), the range is great, the comfort superb. The brand? Unknown. Quality and support could be an issue.

      In China Li Auto is a known brand now. If they go abroad all new brands face the same hill to climb. Expanding dealership and part networks. In China Li auto has decent reliability. But this is their first BEV. But their L-series have proven to be reliable and I haven’t heard anything bad about company support

      @@acasualviewer5861 right now li auto is only in China officially The pricing is fair for what you are getting. Especially if you put it against a high end Toyota Vellfire/Alphard which run $100k+ in China. Li Auto is a very well known name now in China. The quality of their vehicles resides solidly in the premium segment. Rumours/spy shots of a small Mega BEV have started to surface.
