Super quick AION Y PLUS overview in under 5 minutes. The AION Y PLUS is GAC AION’s updated AION Y EV. Although shared somewhat like an MPV this is strictly a 5 seater boasting a lot of rear headroom and legroom! It’s also pretty budget friendly!
This is a new format of video @Chinadriven for those who are looking for the quick overall info on Chinese EVs. It’s tough to squeeze as much info as possible into 5mins, but we try to give the broad strokes.

Thank you for this format, all the important information and no fluff. I'll check out more on your channel with the time you saved me.
Great to hear you enjoyed it this style of review!
Super roomy&practical, for daily use
Loads of space! For a no fuss family EV it wouldn’t be a bad choice at all!
@@ChinaDriven I will say it is a good choice considering the cost, and LFP battery is quite safe
I like the wing-like headlights.
Or daylight running lights... is that what you called them?
@@GregHockey AION calls them "angel" light something .. IIRC
Yes they are Daylight Running Lights or DRLs, as @jwickerszh said AION calls them Angel light.
They all have silly names for their “Signature lighting”
Very good package, though not a huge fan of their redesigned tallights, I think the previous model looked a bit better there. Also you did not mention but it was one of the first EV that pioneered the in-Car cinema fashion with an optional projector and roll-down screen and front seats that lie down flat with the rear seats. It also had an optional mattress to fit that setup.
But I don’t think, or rather I didn’t see the Cinema feature on this AION Y PLUS updated version. Maybe they cancelled it.
But yes the Original AION Y was the first with that feature before Xpeng made waves with it in the P5. But I’m still yet to see a P5 with this installed. Even in the showrooms
@@ChinaDriven It is still mentioned on their website and mobile app, although it is not in the configurator so it may be an aftersale thing they may propose at the dealership.
looks pretty decent 👌
is it the most exciting EV. definitely not. but it offers loads of space for a great price
Once better known Chinese legacy brands start revving up start ups would be in trouble. GAC hyperGT/SSR Chery STERRA Changan Shelan Avatr, Geely Galaxy
Of course these Traditional OEMs have deep pockets. A proven track record. And the ability to attract talent knowing they aren’t going to go out of business in 2 years.
Some Chinese OEMs are doing better than others. Will be interesting to see who are the survivors in 5+ years
Looks attractive simple car... Is aion considered as a good and reliable EV in chine... compared to BYD, wuling, dfsk for example?
@@medroastt9888 I personally haven’t heard anything awful about them in terms of reliability. But I suspect won’t be long until this is replaced. Since the Aion V just got a new generation.
New suscribir nere in Madrid Spain!. One question: is this brand new?
It is not THAT new started around 2018. Aion belongs to Guangzhou Auto group.
We appreciate the sub!
Does it do AC charging or only DC charging?
It has AC charging
@@ChinaDriven So both?
@@honesty_-no9he yes.
so many choices
It’s the strength of the Chinese EV market. Multiple options at each pricepoint!
How tall is the presenter ?. 4.9ft ?
Will is 5ft7in 170cm. So plenty of room for 6ft+ in the back of the Aion Y
Got to be one of the ugliest vehicles on the road, that is if anyone actually drives one. Good competition for Tesla Cybertruck - the stainless steel urinal on wheels.
Many of them on the roads. I assume the price for the range and the huge amount of space it offers is key to it's success. Looks are definitely not it's strong suit!
It's unique.
