I’m sure for the next Gen it will be on the SEPA platform. We’ll see a big jump in charging, range and interior design. But as a mid-cycle refresh they’ve addressed the biggest drawbacks which really only became a problem because of the speed of the Chinese EV market
The range comes from their SiC chips, 800V battery, higher voltage through inverter and motor, and the oil-based more efficient cooling. Some part of it must be hard to ramp. G6 wait is getting so long that it’s not healthy for demand. Their production can’t keep up. P7 is not going to switch the new system until the supply constraints are fixed.
All those things you mentioned are part of the SEPA2.0 platform no? Anway no one is saying or expecting thee to be a 2nd gen P7 this year. Maybe end of next year there will at least be some indication of a 2nd gen I reckon. The MPV is next. And then…who knows cos thats the end of the old Xpeng roadmap before the change of management. G3i is tired. P7i is clinging one. Can’t just rely on the G6 for sales. And it’s new GZ factory needs ramping & more volume. The P7i is basically a bandage to eek more life out of the P7 whilst Xpeng expand the model range. But they need to be quick because even though these updates to the P7 make it fall in line somewhat, it’s still ageing compared to the onslaught of EV sedans.
@@ChinaDriven Sepa 2.0 also includes die casting, cell to chassis, chassis platform that fits more models. If they really brought down cost so much that G6 is profitable. Then they can crank out a lot of models and compete on cost too.
@@enigmatum sure. The 2.0 platform bought a lot of things, and we’ll be seeing it again soon. I didn’t list all these things in the G6 video because it seems most people don’t care. But it means Xpeng now have a platform that is in-line with other players at the high-end of production and Ev platforms. Exceeding some in terms of charging capabilities. I’m interested to see if we’ll get a new roadmap at some point from Xpeng since like i said the MPV is the last thing on the old roadmap before the change of upper management.
Hello! Could you please really confirm that the new P7i has integrated speakers in the front seats? The old P7 had them directly in the headrest, that's for sure. Which variant (P7 or P7i) do you think has those seats speakers better positioned? Thank you!
same as the older P7. not every model has the driver speakers. But yes the P7i has them in the shoulder same as the G9 and G6. I don’t think the headrest ones really provided anything extra over the newer location.
The prior version was very different and no where near as good. This is a great refresh. The interior is much improved, they got rid of the stupid animation bot and reduced the mad amount of sound F/X etc.
VERY different is a bit of an overstatement I think haha. The interior is better but it’s basically the same just reskinned in leather with a slightly altered central console. but looks and feels better for sure the sounds are less that’s true.
You mean the redesigned central console? The dash is largely the same. it’s been reskinned in soft touch material. the updated interior is better than the old one.
It's a real looker. Hope they move to SEPA for their next refresh. It could take it beyond 800km of CLTC range.

Really love your reivews form Chinese EV ! Just subscribed hope you can do the test of XPeng G9 !! Greetings from Barcelona :)
We have two Xpeng G9 videos. A static review. And then the first drive
Are the seat speakers gone? Awesome video btw!
6:38 Still has the speakers, but they’ve moved them into the seat shoulder area.
Appreciated
Nice!!! Look at that Robo face 😜😜😜
😛 dumb name hahahah
Really nice car
Are you comfortable driving so close to the stearing wheel?
Not really. Shooting at night posed some problems. The our fast lens wasn’t very wide angle to shoot.
Where was the intro filmed? The place looks amazing.
Just the city we call home in China. Changsha, Hunan
China is moving forward.

What is the point of those ridiculous doors? Wait unti the door motor fails and you can't get in or out. 🤓
