Yamaha EAD10 on Double Bass Kits (Tutorial + Playing Demos)
The greasiest guide to setting up dual Yamaha EAD10 units on a double bass drum kit! Whether you're curious about how the EAD10 works, considering buying one, or looking for the best way to integrate it with your double bass setup, this video is for you.
Contents:
00:00 - Introduction
00:21 - Overview of the Yamaha EAD10
01:06 - Equipment Needed / Connections
01:49 - Playing Demo 1: dual 24" kicks, 6 rack + 2 floor toms
03:01 - Playing Demo 2: dual 22" kicks, 2 rack + 2 floor toms
03:37 - Review
04:26 - Final Thoughts
05:06 - Outro
05:31 - Weekly Nonsense
Step-by-Step Setup:
Equipment Overview:
- Yamaha EAD10 Module
- Two EAD10 Sensor/Microphone Units
- Two TRS Male to Dual TRS Female Adapter
Connection Guide:
- Attach the first sensor/microphone unit to the primary bass drum.
- Attach the second sensor/microphone unit to the secondary bass drum.
- Use the two TRS male to dual TRS female adapters to connect both units to the single main EAD10 module. (both A cables together, both B cables together)
Configuration Tips:
- Adjust the sensitivity and settings in the EAD10 module to ensure balanced sound from both triggers.
- Fine-tune the effects and levels for optimal performance.
Playing Demos:
Demo 1: We showcase the setup on a vintage Ludwig chrome over wood drum kit with 9 toms and dual 24" kicks in an untreated home studio room, highlighting the rich, warm tones captured by the EAD10.
Demo 2: We move to an acrylic Pearl Crystal Beat drum kit with a more average tom set up and dual 22" kicks in a typical home environment, demonstrating the versatility and adaptability of this dual EAD10 setup.
Quick Review:
After testing, we share our thoughts on the setup. We found that using two EAD10 sensor/microphone units with a single module significantly enhances the functionality of the EAD10 for double bass drum kits. The setup is straightforward, and the results are impressive, offering a perfect blend of acoustic feel and electronic versatility. The only down side being you'll need to buy a second unit (let us know if the trigger / microphone portion can even be ordered separately)
Conclusion:
We hope you find this guide helpful for your double bass drum setup with the Yamaha EAD10. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more drumming tips and tutorials!

@@BlackBridgeSound being fair I’m a bigger fan of 1 man 1 jar
We could fire up a 1 man 1 drum series
@@BlackBridgeSound now that would be something to behold
I'm sold. Very low-maintenance, broad-spectrum recording solution for a two-kick kit. ... however ... with chops like that, I'm pretty sure you guys could sell two tin cans and a string to do the same job. Damn. Big cred to the long-hair for advanced cable management skills and and ultra-tasteful wardrobe choice.
Sounds killer, what settings do you use?
Arena, trigger turned fully off and add reverb to taste
Sounded good
What scene did you use? Toms and Snare sound great, please help me
I always just use the arena setting with the trigger turned completely off and use however much reverb I think sounds good at the time
@BlackBridgeSound I really liked it, I always have problems for my sound from my covers
Looks goofy as hell, but sounds sick!!!
Ai sim! Ótimo!!
Nahhh
Nahhhzzzz
Decent tone
You ever arrange a tone on a snare?
@@BlackBridgeSound no, never!
Snare got more crack than Harlem in 88
Steve Ferrone knows what’s up
First - damn good Kataklysm tattoo. Didn't know about EAD-10 can be mounted such different ways. The 2nd position is the most pretty sound. Which is the most natural sounding preset in EAD-10? I am going to go to a studio to make a recordings and kind of don't have much time for experimenting. What preset would you suggest for achieving live untriggered sound?
I think you’re the first person to point that out on the channel. Nice! To be honest, I just find Arena is the best. It’s just a nice basic drum sound and you can control the reverb to taste
@@BlackBridgeSound cool, I will try the Arena first. Early Kataklysm (till 2000, including Prophecy) is one of iconic bands for me. Sylvain Houde is a beast in everything - music, lyrics and vocals. Hope he appear and do some more. Also, respect for ice hockey :-) Nashville enforced with Stamkos and Marchessault, let's see what perform upcoming season. This playoff final was mind-blowing - Oilers' return from loosing 0-3 was very impressive. They were deserving to win, although the Panthers too :-)
Fun fact, it’s a little later but if you look through the thanks section in the booklet for Prevail you’ll find Mike’s name in there!
@@BlackBridgeSound did you help them with something that time? Or what's the reason?
JF mastered our album we put out around the time and Mike was in contact with him lots
KRANK rip dime
Very distorted in a unic marshall way
I heard 4 year olds that play better than you
Not surprised. There’s some amazing 4 year old musicians these days
Sounds like shyt.
Does it though?
Wayyy too much gain guys.
Which one?
Pure talent
Randy Savage left the building long ago

Scorpions! 🎉

Proof that you don’t need 8 toms and 20 cymbals to have a great sound
I was pretty impressed with how decent these sound mic’d up. We later got another set and the expansion pack too and for what it is they sound pretty awesome
For a second it turned 🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓
Marty uses ENGL
Greasy. Well I hope there’s a guitarist out there named “Marty Engl” that uses Friedman amps so it balances out
@@BlackBridgeSound lol, we can only hope
God damn that sounded good
That amp sounds absolutely fantastic
@@BlackBridgeSound I have no clue if you’ve already heard this or not, but there’s a remaster of a track from mega man zero 3 called cannonball which sounds absolutely amazing ua-cam.com/video/zyADNaIGBaI/v-deo.htmlsi=vvUuilQZNl2VgTOt

Gotta figure out the consistency of squeal still learnin it fully
Tip: put your wah on fully forward for some extra greasy ones.
@@BlackBridgeSound oh hell yeah I knew I’d need to get into effects and some point
Not a trick we use in these videos but it does work really well with the right wah. I have a hiwatt wah that doesn’t really make a difference but my bad horsie ii works wonders on harmonics.
I started singing it myself fr,idc
Hell yeah! 🦂
Try pulling the 12ax7s out of v1 and v2, and replace them with 12at7s. It does wonders for the lead channel.
Can you just direct swap those or is there a bias on preamp tubes?
@BlackBridgeSound preamp tubes don't need to be biased so there isn't actually a bias pot for them. They do technically have a bias but its fixed and not something you can or need to set. They're just plug and play as long as they're the same family of tube. 12at7 is sort of like a 12ax7 with much less gain. V1 and V2 are your first few gain stages so putting them there will have a more dramatic effect. If you found the lead channel to be very bright and harsh while just generally having an unusable amount of gain then you might really like what the 12at7s do for the amp in those positions.
why are the toms so far apart? whole kit looks like and ergonomic nightmare
That’s where they would be on a big boy kit
Men and his toys. Love it.
Toys are dope
Fine frickin' amp, that Friedman, no question. Likewise, a dilly of a drive pedal, the TS-9 in mirrored red. Thanks for the demo of both! (also thanks for the very classy - not rude and crude - thumb-and-finger tweak technique from T.A.)
That thing is a beast, maybe I’ll get one one day… a man can dream. 😴
Friedman makes some greasy sounding amps
That one had a nice fat sound. Maybe add some drums and you really have something!
Wish we knew someone who records drums 😢
@@BlackBridgeSound I heard of a company who did drum recording with just 5 microphones. It sounded pretty nice! Maybe you can get in contact with them 😅 ua-cam.com/video/CkGo0D85KNk/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I have the same kit. Love it!
Double bass + big rack?
You two are the defintion of STUPID!!
Why? For demoing an amp with terrible build quality and reliability from a company with zero customer support that builds their stuff with replacement in mind instead of repairing? We may be stupid for buying anything mark bass to begin with I guess!
🤘😎🤘🇮🇹👍
I had a bugera 333xl and it was AWESOME!

Sounds like two rabid cats scroggin in a dirty dumpster
How the hell did you play that nasty note dude?
That plugin i was talk7ng about is the otto audio eleven eleven amp sim.
Greasy, looks like a decent plugin
Was the amp at max volume while played with the drums?
No but like all tube amps you get to a point where the amp stops getting louder and starts getting more flubby and distorted as you turn the volume up. So turning the volume up more wouldn’t help it over drums.
No, it just sounds like a video game. A stupid sound.
Why don’t you like fun?
I bet if you said that aloud you’d make a way stupider sound
Does someone need a nappy?
So thats whst that one plug in is moddled after.
Which ones that?
Bugera makes great amps for a great price !
Even greater price used!
