    Dr. Berg said the fat doesn’t spike insulin . And he didn’t said it’s saturated fat or unsaturated fat .

    • @Nerdtritionists
      @Nerdtritionists 7 днів тому

      This video is simply about raising awareness that the common myth "carbs -> insulin -> diabetes" is wrong. Nutrition is much more complex than that. Focusing on specific foods that raise insulin or raise blood sugar is not a good idea anyway. Put simply, blood fat levels worsen insulin resistance, so blood sugar spikes higher when eating carbs, because of the fat consumption. Of course, the problem isn't that simple. There is also obesity where fat spills into the blood stream, cytokines, AGEs, sleep deprivation,... which affect insulin resistance. Dr. Berg has a very specific agenda, propagating easy solutions for complex problems. Unfortunately, his tips can make things worse rather than better.

    I was looking to make my own electrolyte drink mix, so i wanted to make sure i have the ratios right. LMNT, probably rhe biggest brand for electrolyte powders, has 1000mg sodium to 200mg potassium (5:1 ratio).... The sodium seems rather high... I saw a Harvard article that said hunter gatherers had more of a 1:16 (one sodium to 16 potassium) ratio in their diets, which is way, WAY different from what LMNT says... My blood pressure is slightly high, so im trying to see what an ideal sodium: potassium ratio would be for me for my electrolyte drinks. Maybe 1:3? (One sodium to 3 potassium?)

    Donʼt eat pesticides or herbicides....eat pasture raised eggs and meats.

    • @Nerdtritionists
      @Nerdtritionists 7 днів тому

      Most environmental pollutions come from animal products, because of the aggregation up the food chain. Pasture raised "eggs" and "meats" (let's not forget the animals involved in the process...) do not really have an advantage here. The pasture can still be contaminated, and the pollutants will aggregate nonetheless. Pasture raised also does not mean that the animals will exclusively feed on grass. Your solution also is not sustainable, we don't have enough land to raise enough pasture raised "farm animals" for that. The best way avoid pesticides and herbicides is to eat the plants directly, and make sure to choose organic for the "dirty dozen" most polluted produce.

    The Glycemic Index was created to cheaply and grossly estimate the amount of insulin foods release because it was thought that only glucose and other sugars stimulate insulin release. This was incorrect assumption. So not only is the Glycemic Index outdated, but it was created on the wrong supposition. Fortunately, we do have a better way to judge how much a food costs our body and that is the insulin index. So when I hear a speaker use the Glycemic Index as a tool, I take everything that they say afterwards, with a grain of salt. And yes, pasta is a great side dish as its Insulin Index is lower than what you’d expect. And steak’s Insulin Index is higher than pasta. This has been proven twice. The only advantage that animal protein offers is its variety of amino acids, including the essential amino acids(which are the amino acids that the human body cannot manufacture itself) So the final solution is a true balanced diet with everything in moderation Yes we have come full circle 😮

    • @Nerdtritionists
      @Nerdtritionists 7 днів тому

      Yeah, I am also not a huge fan of all these indices. In the end, a proper meal is made up of various ingredients with divers effects on our body. I don't fully subscribe to the idea that the "complete protein" advantage of animal proteins is significant. There are complete proteins in plants as well, e.g., soy, quinoa. Also, as stated before, meals are made up of various ingredients, and a plant-based meal will come with ingredients with divers amino acid profiles. Complete proteins do have a disadvantage though: the activation of IGF-1, which does not happen with incomplete proteins. So, most plant-based proteins have that advantage :) I also don't fully subscribe to the idea of "everything in moderation", as it can skew people's perspectives on what healthy ratios between food groups are. E.g., regardless of what you do, you should eat 75% whole plant foods (a large variety as well), including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. What you do on top of that is less important, but avoiding highly carcinogenic foods for example, might also be a good idea.

    I'm gonna try eating lower protein for a while to see if it helps with my acne. I've already been vegan for many years, and I've been trying my best to eat low glycemic load, as well, but my acne persists. It may be because of my high protein intake. I have been eating a LOT of extra protein to build muscle (150g to 200g of plant protein per day). Frankly I'm a bit worried I will lose muscle while trying out a much lower-protein diet for a few months. But it's worth at least testing it, to see if I can clear my acne this way.

    I removed pork and red meat from my diet, no cooking oils like crisco I now use avocado oil, I mostly eat fish, boneless skinless chicken, a wide array of cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, turnips, watercress, arugula, kale, and fruit. In addition I dry fast 3 days a month, that really gives your colon a break to heal. Every morning I drink 16 ounces of warm spring water with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of raw honey. For breakfast I typically eat 3 eggs from my own chickens, 1 whole avocado, take Moringa capsules and also add a teaspoon of lions mane in my caffeine free coffee without creamer. Also before I enter my fast I take bile salts! There are digestive enzymes available if you suspect you aren’t properly digesting your food, a good way to know is if you have tons of gas and bloating after every meal like I did, I’m also lactose intolerant so my issues are compounded by that 🙄. Anyway hope this helps someone, you don’t have to suffer like I did for over 20 years! I have zero flare ups now!

Since then I had to go on a high fibre diet , and I’ve now lost 3 stone in weight , I’ve just had another flare up in September 20/24 another week of antibiotics . But what really concerns me is the fact I’ve lost a hell of a lot of muscle mass on my buttocks and my legs my jeans make me look boney . When I sit down it feels sore and uncomfortable, but I don’t seem to be getting any answers from my GP lots of tests done but they all come back negative and I just don’t know what to do , I now feel embarrassed because of the weight loss just walking down the street , can anyone help please .

      Fast for 48 hours! After your fast drink 16 ounces of warm spring water with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with mother, 1 tablespoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of organic honey. Recently I started adding 1/8 teaspoon of ground turmeric to that drink! Your first meal after fasting should be broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots with broiled fish in either avocado oil or coconut oil seasoned with pink Himalayan sea salt only, Morton’s offers it in local supermarkets. Keep yourself on 2 high fiber meals/day for the first week, then slowly add more foods. Stay away from pork, alcohol, anything with genetically modified ingredients, and all seed oils! I use avocado oil exclusively now and have zero flare ups! Good luck!

      Low potassium would be hard to accomplish. 250 calories of NY strip steak has 750mg of potassium times that by 10x and you would be getting 2,500 calories and 7,500 mg of potassium and around 1300mg of sodium A diet of only fresh fruit is easily 200mg of potassium per 1 mg of sodium. Say strawberries 100g = 153mg potassium, 1mg sodium & 33 calories. Now let's say all you ate was strawberries, 2500 calories worth That would be 2500 calories (stawberries) 11,500mg of potassium 75mg of sodium

      Yes, you should take it with liquid and /or food. Otherwise the supplement can cause burning in your stomach. It should be diluted.

    Thank you this was very helpful! Great work. I find it curious that a lot of studies about anxiety and tea say that tea helps but studies about coffee and anxiety says it does not.
