How to Prevent and Treat Gout!

  • With gout being one the most widespread chronic-pain conditions, it's important to have an educated awareness of how to treat and prevent it. Acute gout treatment is important, but what about long-term gout treatment? To lower uric acid levels in the body long-term, good kidney and gut health are very important!
    Excess uric acid in the body is cleared via the kidneys, so keeping your kidneys healthy is super important! But did you know that gout patients suffer from a characteristic gut dysbiosis? This gut dysbiosis inhibits the formation of short-chain fatty acids and the breakdown of uric acid in the gut! This increases bodily inflammation and blood uric acid levels!!!
    So, how do we prevent and treat gout? Preventing a decline in kidney function and the previously mentioned gut dysbiosis is also very important to prevent gout in the first place!
    The acute gout treatment with diet consists of avoiding purine-rich foods. But do we really need to avoid all purine-rich foods? No! Purine-rich whole plant foods, like beans and lentils do not increase uric acid levels. And as you can imagine, they are very important for the long-term gout treatment, as the improve kidney and gut health!
    Next to meat and seafood which contain high amounts of purine, alcohol and isolated fructose should also be avoided. None of these foods are benefitial for the acute or long-term treatment of gout!
    Low-fat dairy products seem to have acute benefits by lower uric acid levels! But their long-term effect on kidney and gut health is rather bad. Coffee and cherries have been tested and show some benefits for gout treatment. They are worth giving a try!

    Very nice video, my dad had been suffering from uric acid for an year but after going mostly plant based cutting on meat his condition is much better now
