Welcome to Domaine Sauvage! Let me introduce us: I'm Anicia, accompanied by my partner Philippe and our little explorer, Odin. In the summer of 2023, we left the comforts of our lives in Belgium and purchased an old farmhouse in the south of France, specifically in the Dordogne region. We produce weekly videos documenting our progress on the property, with the ultimate goal of renovating it and restoring it to its former glory. Join us on our journey of transforming this French homestead as we aim for a simpler, yet more fulfilling life closer to nature.

Last week, Philippe tackled the major job of splitting the tractor in two together with Claude , swapping out parts, and inspecting the worn clutch. While he searches for a replacement and plans to have the old one relined-restoring its friction material for full functionality-he’s diving back into excavation work in the meantime. This week’s efforts bring us one step closer to completing the parking area and moving forward with the renovation of the old barn.
But like most projects here, things rarely go as smoothly as planned. Some days bring one challenge after another, turning even simple tasks into a series of unexpected hurdles. A support on the dumper gave way and had to be rewelded and bolts needed adding and tightening.
Despite the challenges, we found time to enjoy moments together as a family-working side by side, sharing a homemade dinner of caramelized leek, bacon, and cheese quiche paired with an autumn-inspired salad. We also had the chance to collaborate with Flexispot and test their E7 Pro standing desk. Setting it up and upgrading our workspace together was a fun process, and after two weeks of use, I’ve found it helps me stay more active while editing by allowing me to easily switch between sitting and standing positions.
And with the sunny days lingering, we’ve been treated to the sight of migrating cranes making their way south for winter.
Every week, this property reveals a little more of its hidden story, and we’re so thankful to have you join us on this journey!

61 - Reviving the Old McCormick F240 Tractor: Clutch Issues and More!
Переглядів 62 тис.14 днів тому
This week is all about the tractor. Although Philippe managed to get it running with Claude's help, it’s still not running smoothly, so everything needs to be checked to identify the issue. At first, it’s a process of trial and error, but soon enough, Claude suspects the clutch might be stuck. To access the clutch, several components need to be removed-starting with the front loader, followed b...
60 - Working on the Tractor & Fully Uncovering the Barn Wall!
Переглядів 80 тис.21 день тому
Last winter, Philippe said, ‘I’m not a mechanic,’ but I’d say he’s well on his way to becoming one. While waiting for the soil to dry out behind the barns, he’s tackling a new task with Claude’s guidance, picking up skills he never thought he’d need. He starts off by fixing the exhaust on the dumper, and if you caught last week’s video, you know we picked up a second tractor, hoping it might se...

This week, you’ll see Philippe tackling the barn’s water issue by digging away the soil that has built up over the years behind it. He dives into some long-overdue tasks while the rain halts the digging and we also head out of town to pick up something exciting that will help us move forward with another project for this winter. As autumn settles in, we kick off the week under bright blue skies, with Philippe determined to keep the excavation on track. He’s already made significant progress, digging beyond the new barn and steadily working behind the old one. With good weather on his side, he forgoes filming to focus on getting as much done as possible. But the next day brings an unexpected turn-remnants of Hurricane K...

Argus 4 Pro: reolink.com/product/argus-4-pro/?aff=622 A new week and a new set of challenges. At this point, we’ve learned a universal truth: rain equals mud, and mud equals... well, problems. Sometimes I feel like a weather reporter, always talking about it, but the weather plays such a huge role in getting the big job behind the barns done! This week started off sunny, so Philippe was able to get a few good hours of digging in each day. The section left to dig is no longer connected to the hill, so it has less groundwater to soften it up, making the work a bit slower. But as you kn...

Bonjour tout le monde! And welcome back to another week with us! It’s been a busy one. After six weeks of excavating, scooping, and moving soil, the hill behind the barn has noticeably shrunk, while the dam has grown. It’s repetitive work, but as things progressed, we started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, even though there's still at least half of the hill left to clear. Philippe p...

We Bought An Abandoned Farm in France - One Year Progress
Переглядів 3 млн2 місяці тому
This video is a timelapse on our first year in France. In June 2023 we took a leap of faith and purchased a neglected 34-acre farm in the Dordogne region of Southern France. From the moment we arrived, we were faced with the enormous task of clearing the overgrown vegetation and cleaning the property’s old buildings. The farm included a cute but rundown farmhouse, several barns in need of repai...

We love the commentary and the editing
I’m glad the digging is almost at its end, I fast forward thru that and the tractor discussion, but enjoyed the cooking at the end. Looking forward to seeing how the soil at back is retained, then onto the dam.
We will also be glad but it is a part of the renovations now as other parts will be, this is a big project so some tasks take a lot longer then if it would be a tiny 10 square meter barn.
Im from Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Ive been following ur videos n loving it very much.
great keep it up
Your chickens are hilarious, and have convinced me I haven't the patience for them. Very impressed with all your hard work, ingenuity, and stamina. Bon chance!
Fantastic project, work ethic and attitude. Wish you the very best of luck guys. Will be following your progress wishing 1 day soon i can do something similar before I get too old!
Hij was weer leuk. Maar wat een werk verzet jij. Respect hoor 👊🏻 maar hoe komt die grond zo hoog bij die gebouwen
Show more of French cooking~ interesting!
Bedankt dat we mochten meekijken in jullie grote project, hele klus💪 gaan volgen, grts uit Limburg NL
It would have been easier to build new house and premises than renovate slums. Anyway I admire your courage.
"This thing is so tired." Same little dumper. Same. Lucky it's got you to look after it in its senior years. Great work mate. Really enjoying seeing your progress.
I could feel the relief for the barn! Finally free! Great Job! Both of you!
I love the respect that you have for the land
I cannot understand why you do not use some of that dirt to repair the ruts in your yard.
150th 🎉
Wow, what an amazing couple. Great job and all the best 👍👍
Seems sad that there doesn't seem to be as many birds singing, bees and flowers. Would love to know what happened to the garden and how that's coming along.
it's amazing, truely inspiring
its really great to see something like this. its similar to building a world of your own. I think this is true definition of alpha male. My bother has similar skills too. in future, i would wanna do something like this.
Looking great around the barn. Good job. Great video.
Not sure if you will see this, maybe not, but look at using material such as penoplex for your raised bed garden. Excellent product for such tasks and it will outlast ANY other material
You ;have the best intros. You are so articulate and descriptive in your narration. You would make a wonderful audio book reader…future career.
Watching from south central Alabama, US. 👋 That is a nice party tree at the end of the video. Perhaps level the ground and develop flowerbeds around it and an old fashioned stone grill with smoker?
can't wait to see the end product, good job guys.
What a job you have done! Very impressive. I would recommend that you remove the vines growing on barn wall. As you can see, they are as tall as the building and will grow underneath the roof tiles and push them out of place.
I am so impressed with you knowledge from computers, repairing tractors, haulers, and anything mechanical.
How does your wife ever get your clothes clean. Reminds me of my Daddy farming and getting so dirty. 😊
Bet your dumpster is worth it's weight in gold, despite the odd breakdown. Cheers, Phil
How amazing it must feel to have gotten so far with the excavation! And that quiche looks delicious!
You did it Phillipe,great job,congratulations
mmm lovely quiche had the same for dinner on Saturday with ham baby spinach and broccoli oh and wonderful videos keep it up enjoying it from new zealand
Be great to know how much the cost of the place was…..that’s the key.
Found your channel through the algorithm though it started within the 50s episodes. I watched a few and decided to start from the beginning. I'll catch up. 33:47 in the first videos I watched, I thought the iron rails where a bin for fire wood.😁
Will you be stabilizing the wall at the back corner …along /under your neighbour’s property? I was thinking of all the rain and water you had and worry if heavy rains again would undermine that bank.
For the quiche: Break and weigh the eggs. Multiply the weight of the eggs by 2 to determine the amount of cream (30% fat) needed. Divide the weight of the eggs by 3 to calculate the amount of milk required. Add any ingredients you like (sometimes it’s better to cook them beforehand, like leeks) and season to taste.
Looking really good! I'm still fascinated at how much ground soil accumulated throughout the years. Congrats on digging them out!
I love the accelerated time parts of your videos with the chickens rushing around and just avoiding their demise(not really).
Did you get a replacement chicken for the one the fox caught? 🤔
My goodness your mechanical skills are serving you well GOOD JOB Was so lovely to see you all outside Odin is growing so fast Your quiche looked so delicious yummy See you next time have a good week hope you are not hit with the weather UK has had this last week freezing temperatures snow gale force winds rain
I am enjoying your life very much! However, I am concerned to know if you understand drainage from the fields above the barn and other places. Wondering why the road was moved?
Amazing job getting all that soil moved ! What an achievement. Well done to all of you 😊
That chickens all the time while philippe is working. ❤
Is the neighbor fine with you digging so close to the boarder? I could imagine him doing that, but I really hope you have a good connection to them and they’re fine with it. I could see you putting up a slanted stonewall to retain the soil of his land. Anyhow I’m a new subscriber and really enjoy watching your progress :)
Fred need a lot of love but I'm not worry, he is on a good family <3
Who is Fred?

Proficiat met de vooruitgang!
Few years ago I purchased old house made from old cow shed and basement had 2 feet of water. Similar situation like your barn. After digging drain below foundation and back filling with pea gravel , installing gutters, the basement is bone dry for 5 years now. It looks like you know what you are doing. God bless you good people.
Great video, you’re really making such progress moving all the soil, your son is growing so fast and he’s so cute talking away plus helping out …thank you for sharing .♥️🇨🇦
Hi I am watching from Australia . I must admit I do fast forward this . A little tip I have been watching Dan from escape to rural France from another UA-cam video for almost 2 years now . He has many followers but his videos are mostly under 15 minutes and most about 7 minutes Enjoyable as it gives us a glimpse into your life and the goals you are achieving into your restoration creativity. Insights how you live in France and even Belgium . Groetjes uit Australia
I watched every minute of it. Much better than corporate crap entertainment.
