    Learning mechanical skills (especially motor repair and welding) is the best thing a farmer can learn. You are setting yourself up for success, Philippe!

    One thing I do love is water, whether it be ponds or lakes.
    I have no idea how the layout for the pond will be, but thats what keeps it exciting.
    Watching it progress and then going, aaah I see now. I do hope its going to be quite large and will you be able to swim in it when its finished?
    The wildlife will certainly thank you for it, be very interesting to see what animals turn up to drink from it. Hopefully you will get some beautiful dragon flies around aswell as bats. Love bats.

    • @DomaineSauvage
      @DomaineSauvage  4 місяці тому +2

      Hey Chris, the pond will be 1000 square meters so it will be more then big enough! I am probably underestimating the amount of work that will go in it but that is because i have 0 experience with it 😂So for us it will be as exciting as for you!

    I was glad to hear one kind word said of the bramble. They can take over - I have spent part of the summer tackling my own and had the infected finger cuts at times despite gloves to prove it - but the butterflies and other insects and animals do love them so keeping some are good (and we can eat the fruit). I learn so much even as an older woman doing my own works. it makes you feel free from having to pay workmen to come in - and even if you have to at least you understand the task better.

    Dear Domaine Sauvage family.
    👍👌👏 Oh WOW, this excavator and especially the all wheel drive dumper are worth their weight in silver. Congratulations 🎉 for all the progress that happened. Relatively soon there will be a nice pond to swim in. 2) Your mechanic Claude is worth his weight in gold. Even more because he's nearby and willing to teach you. 3) I'm happy to see that you purchased front wheels for the old tractor. Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to watch it coming together. I hope that the engine can be saved. A teardown will show. Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
    Best regards luck and especially health to all involved humans, animals and plants.

    Just a little tip to make it easier on yourself and the excavator, stand on top of the berm and dig away in front of you. Great job great videos 🙏

      I will try this in the future, the berm at the top of the hill is not safe to do from on top though.

    I used cardboard to kill unwanted turf for a future garden in the Fall and left it there. It became compost after a while. I just laid the cardboard on top of the area that I mowed or weed-whacked and put some compostable substance on top, like wood chips or leaves or compost. It worked so fantastically. The next spring, I put landscape fabric anywhere that I didn’t want regrowth of turf and weeds and planted. It worked so well!

      We are indeed going to cover up the area for our new veg garden this fall/winter.

      Please find .... a Farmer nearby that has a tractor and will save you all this..... 'Backbreaking' Work. (you have other things to do)
      You know > A tractor will plow through YEARS worth of Growth.....in A DAY! ( then you can keep it up ) OR maybe you need the content for videos....?

    Great to see your latest video. Yet more battles with brambles but good to see you getting your plans for the pond underway.
    It looks like some of your potatoes may have had blight. This kills off the leaves but the potatoes themselves will be fine as long as you harvest them soon after the leaves die and you get rid of the leaves

    • @DomaineSauvage
      @DomaineSauvage  4 місяці тому

      Hey Hilary, yes we think it was blight as someone else also suggested.
