Kenshi | The Monster Hunter Journey Begins | Educational Let's Play
For the channel's first ever Kenshi Let's Play, we'll be training up a cast of characters who will tame every single animal in the game. From lowly spider to the Southern Hive King, all must be captured.
But before our squad tames anything, we'll need to begin training. Starting with hardly anything, we'll begin to claw our way forward as our faction's strength begins to take shape. In this episode we move towards Squin and find the perfect target for our clueless group, a camp of Dust Bandits.
Scenario Rules:
+ Ranged combat is allowed but must be paired with melee
+ Neutral faction behavior (No theft or assault of non-hostile factions)
+ No combat training exploits
Scenario Goals:
+ Tame every animal in the game
+ Capture every animal boss
+ Build a zoo base which can house and feed every tamed animal

I made my first proper base in Skinner's Roam because I wanted to be near the holy nation and the deadlands and the 40-large hordes of hungry bois is AMAZING toughness xp for solo characters. Can train from ~25-80 toughness in a minute or so if you're lucky by getting up from KO'd against fourty hostiles.

I will say that if you are fighting a few big, very slow ships, the astral with a full loadout of pirahna bombers will utterly annihilate them. The piranhas will send their first payload, then the astral recalls them and they send a second payload very quickly before the ship in question can recover. Also keep in mind that the huge payload of bombs will saturate most point defense systems so the astral can slip in reapers or some other big impactful missile behind the bomb payloads. It can 1v1 pretty much any capital in the game without taking damage. Its also incredible for annihilating space stations in an efficient manner. Outside of that specific niche, I agree that in most cases two herons are better. Most AI fleets have a lot of little fast frigates and destroyers poking at you and the astral does not excel at dealing with that sort of pressure, requiring some babysitting and its big power spike (double bomber waves in quick succession) are not nearly as effective against the little guys. But if you have one big slow target, the astral is capable of huge alpha strike potential and I don't think any other carrier comes close.

Any advice for having more than one base/outpost? And can the extra base be used as a healing outpost, or would raids and base attacks destroy and / or take it over?

I’m personally a skeleton superiority, black-desert-pilled individual. You won’t need food if you only run skeletons so fertility doesn’t matter, but if you do want food (or drugs) you’ll have 24/7 rain (acid rain grows crops) and you need only build hydroponics outside/on a roof. If you build just a little north-east of the city you’ll be close to plenty of ore as well, and of course any supplies you need for warfare, construction and research can be bought in the city as well.

I was able to take down 4 spider bots tonight with 6 guys who have combat stats in the 40s and would have had no chance if I hadn’t played it tactically. Lost a limb but no deaths.

Blunt damage is not healed slower. For flesh characters it is healed the same speed and is seperate to the healing of cut damage. This means a character hit with a weapon that does 50% blunt and 50% cut will heal that health twice as fast over a weapon that does 100% blunt/cut. Source - Frankiewuzhere

  • @Ash-Rain
    @Ash-Rain 8 днів тому

Cool to see you post a pt. I was watching some base location videos of yours again the other day. One thing about cut and blunt damage healing: it may seem the way that cut damage is healing faster but it isn't. My guess is that it's because of the bar and how it fills up again. Some kind of optical illusion thingy. It can be easily timed. This doesn't mean that cut and blunt damage aren't different. Early game I try to avoid cut. In later game stages I try to mitigate blunt as best as possible. Your vid here makes a good showcase about cut dmg in early game. Anyway, looking forward to how your pt continues.

HOW TO AUTOMATE ATHLETICS TRAINING in UNMODDED KENSHI for 1 or 2 characters: 1) Get to The Hub 2) Run to just outside the entrance to Shinobi Thieves tower and pause the game. 3) Scroll the view of your surroundings to behind the S.T. tower and town's walls to find the small copper deposit some distance away. The Hub has several near it, but only the one "behind" the Thieves tower will work for this. 4) With the characters you want to train athletics for selected Shift+Right click on this copper mine to add the "mine copper" job to their queue. If they have other jobs in the queue already, drag it towards the top (maybe leaving jobs like "Medic" or "Robotics" above it is fine, but if you're inexperienced just have this "Mine copper" job on top while doing this. 5) Unpause. The characters will now run AWAY from the tower towards the town gates to mine copper, but once they're a certain distance away they'll change their mind and run back towards the tower. And repeat this. For 3 or more characters you need to give a "Follow" job to have the rest of the characters chase the one or two copper miners changing their minds. PS: If you're training some characters with this and have another party away elsewhere sometimes they will get out of The Hub and actually mine the copper once The Hub is unloaded from memory. Also it's not entirely safe to "idle train" in The Hub with this; Hungry Bandits, Dust Bandits, wolves and Slave Hunters have all attacked at one time or another. Just save before training if you're going to try so you don't pull your hair out. PPS: Yes, this works well with Skeletons since food isn't a factor and yes it also serves as an unmodded idle strength training when performed with a character carrying a heavy load.
