Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think the 40% Ninja Mask gas/duststorm resist might be as useless as it is, because our character refuses to wear it properly across his whole face, leaving him both half blind and breathing in the Kenshi equivalent of Sarin gas
I think it’s for end-game balance. As Thief/ Assassin play-style has been pretty big of a cheese, you could prolly walk all the way to Ashland then “thunk” the living shit out of Mad Catlon 😂😂😂

Heh nice. I just watched your other armor guides again yesterday and was wondering where the alluded headgear video was. Turns out you did it two weeks ago. Weird that it didn't show up in my recommendations as I am subscribed.
As much as I love the look of the Sandogasa and the basket hat it's hard for me to think of them as "inventory hogging straw hat" and "unarmored broken gas mask". I'd love to see a headwear overhaul that gives cosmetic options to skeletons, improves availability of faction associated hats at their venders and creatively adapts a couple of headwear options to units like hive soldiers or even the headless weak thralls and pet bonedogs. Best of luck with hitting the 10,000.
Thank you exterminatus. I guess the hat slot is one of the few edges non-skellies have. But for certain hats it would make sense to have skellies wear them. I hope in Kenshi 2 there are two head slots- one for masked gear and one for the top of the head.
Guide review/bits to add! 0:15 This info is not known by so many players, also bit to add! 0:54 Only Humans :P Humanoids would include Sheks/Hivers 1:25 Glad you included Sandogasa. If you are microing a Crossbowman it's the best helmet in the game, tied with Straw Hat. (If not in a Duststorm) 5:00 Swamp Ninja mask is an MVP as a very light gas protection helmet you can put on at any time without weighing too much. 5:47 Rattan Hat is.. As I was writing this you stated it yep the best leather helmet to craft! 6:35 They are my favorite looking Helmets in the game
Frankie! Always an honor to have you comment on a video. Btw, I enjoyed your recent strength video thanks for that I think lower protection on the head is acceptable for ranged units in particular. The Sandogasa is super light, cheap, and practical for those kinds of characters.
@@paulrogersgaming Hey thanks! And for sure. Fun fact btw, when a unit is given a move command ranged weapons have a MASSIVELY boosted chance to hit them in the head. So as long as you are not telling your guys to move (Attack commanding is fine) in front of your rangers with no coverage on their helmets they'll be fine!
@FrankieWuzHere Really?! I wonder if that's because a center mass hit is more likely when still. Would make sense for the AI to not aim for the head since center mass is a larger target. If you move though, the center mass shot could stray to the head more easily. Interesting.
@@paulrogersgaming Yep really. Since I discovered it a few people have theorized that it may be intended to be the other way around. Would make sense for a stationary target to be an easier target. It's pretty weird.
@@paulrogersgaming My pleasure. Love Kenshi, and enjoy our content a lot, especially when I don't have much time to play myself - you are scratching the Kenshi itch that I have 😜
Good vid, but yeah the drip factor always comes first with headgear. A general pronunciation tip for non-English words: If in literally any kind of doubt, use short vowels. Like in "bat", "bet", "bit", "bot", "butt" and etc... Will be mostly right, most of the time.
personally, im a huge fan of the fog mask. earlier game, you can buy it very early on, cheap price (-50 percent price) from any shinobi thief shop, and it has very good stats and defence as you pointed out. they dont sell it beyond hgh quality though, so later must switch out or create a better one later on
I hope the weather resistance system gets some kind of work in the sequel. As it is you either commit to everyone wearing dust coats or you carry around rain coats and I find both less than ideal.
The square goggles are less likely to damage the eyes if they fall. Since they are all standard designs, they have to be able to work with a lot of variable face structures They almost issues them to us in the Marines 😢
Spiked helmet vs armoured face plates, blunt 57% vs 51.3%, cut 81% vs 73.625%, cut eff 60% vs 90% coverage 90% vs 75%, both weigh around 5kg with spiked having -10 perception which only matter for crossbows. Overall have to say I think the spiked helmet is way better, way better stats than the armoured face plates and preforms amazingly for how easy it is to get.
Yeah, raw stats wise spiked helmet does well. It's just that the masked helmet is available in shops. If I do have armor crafting set up, I'll go with armored hood or iron hat since the spiked helmet doesn't have weather bonuses.
My go-to for light-medium character is Armoured Hood and Dust Coat. Not the best overall but enough protection for early game dru… *cough* Flat Lagoon most wanted consumables 😂😂😂
@ that has been my early game martial artist and saber-wielder go-to, i usually pair those two pieces with at least a high grade samurai cloth pant and a high grade leather turtleneck for human and shek or high grade leather hive vest for hiver. And honorable-mentioned: the wooden sandal. The aforementioned combination is very good when it comes to exploring and early game skirmishes. As it doesn’t hinder my characters stats and speed. Fight or flight scenario? Aye, bet. Scout? Go for it. Eagle’s Crosser? Decent ranged skills and you’d be fine.
your japanese pronounciation is authentically kenshi in that it is like a dustwich edit: don't worry too much, as a member of the anglo race, you have an inherit malus to languages
Can you imagine having Iron Hat on your head and getting hit by a stick? 51%/73%? More like 100% for broken neck with that amount of leverage for the hit. I will stick with a Basket, helps you see in dark, good for sneaking.

It's a weird piece. If only it covered more of the face, ninja folk could travel through toxic gas freely.
