We want to show you some very unique outdoor projects, builds, treehouses, cabins, tools, our Chinese mini excavator, and off-road toys.
From building a cargo trailer camper conversion, using our mini excavator, remodeling a toy hauler, building a custom deck around the pool, to remodeling an older toy hauler camper, and on to our biggest project yet... our creek side treehouse build!
Our creek property started as raw forest land, then transformed into a campsite with a generator and jugs of water, then to glamp site with electricity and rural water, and one day will turn into a treehouse Airbnb!
Come visit and see our latest ideas put into action.

I Bought The Most Expensive Chinese Mini Excavator
I bought this Chinese mini excavator at a dealership for much more than the similar auction units. Did I get ripped off or did I get a good buy?

Go look at groundhog equipment. Thats where kemron got started from. Groundhog have a video sed if you can buy one at a lower price he under stand why you buy it. Here is something elese. There are face book group that can get of help on how to do repairs.
I've got a story for you about always using seatbelts in mini excavators. I apologize in advance for how long it is. I used to own a Bobcat X-320 mini excavator until the engine caught on fire from a wiring short. Anyway... I used to dig big pits so people can either bury trash or burn it then I would come back and cover it up. When I covered it I always had the cab off to the side so I can see the blade better. I did a few pushes just fine. Then on one push as the backhoe crested the top of the dirt mound. It lurched forward and threw me out of the front of the cab. Because I kept the cab off-set the backhoe twisted as it fell and the roll cage pinned my left leg with my knee bent under the roll cage. I suspect that it probably broke something in my hip because it was laying on the ground as flat as it can be. My left foot wasn't in better shape being stuck under the other bar of the cage. After digging myself out from under the roll cage with hydraulic fluid and diesel pouring on me. I thought I would try to use the boom while standing in the cab to try and get it back upright. The hydraulics were being very sensitive at that point and every move I made with the levers would bounce me around in the roll cage like a pinball. This caused me to break 4 ribs. I got to my dad before the adrenaline wore off and told him what happened, then I went to my room and passed out from the pain and remained that way for about a day and a half. When I woke up... Me and my dad went about setting the backhoe back upright. I used a 1 ton comealong to pull the boom in and we used a 15 ton chain hoist anchored to a tree to get it back upright. We then called a mechanic to bleed the air from the engine which we didn't know how to do. We checked it over for any further damage and found none. I topped off the fluids I got back to work on burying that hole and had no further problems. I've heard it said that you're never an expert until you have an accident. Guess that makes me an expert. I've also heard it said that any crash you can walk away from is a good one. I hope you enjoy the story and don't have to learn the painful lesson that I did. There are many accident reports from people who did what I did and aren't alive to tell the story. Keep all safety warnings in mind.. they are written in the blood of the ones who either didn't survive, are permanently disfigured, permanently handicapped, or almost died. as I write this I am listening to a story on PublicResourceOrg of a loader operator that lost both of his legs in a rollover accident.
10k buys a lot of machine at auction I just bought a 2.5 ton with a cab for 10k all in including delivering it 800 miles
Nice. There are some great deals to be had for sure!
I love that part of Oklahoma! I am originally from Heavener and I miss the mountains every time I go down there to see my Dad.
Agreed. I love it as well. Heavener isn’t far away at all. I have a place in Muse. How do you know where I filmed this? lol
Looking forward to seeing the new "toy". Hope delivery goes smoothly!
Me too!! Just got a delayed message today. Not sure what’s going on, but it’s in Albuquerque NM right now.
i like it. maybe put the cans so you could remove the back one with out having to remove the front one. front to back , not side to side. Thanks for the ideas.
Thanks. Agreed. That might be easier.
Not one to make a long story short.
Haha. I sure made a short story long. lol
Did you pay to much? Long story short yes. You could have bought a used bobcat for that price.
That’s possible, depending on the level of mechanical repair want to. I knew nothing, a used old machine sounded scary to me.
@@OurLifeInTreesa used japanese machine is heaps better than this gasoline chinese garbage. That being said, for around 5 grand they have their place, and i’m genuinely considering one. But 10k you got bent over
@@kyzer9144I disagree. With the upgrades, availability, assistance and financing, I feel it’s worth paying more. I would recommend getting one as they are super handy.
Great around the farm, light duty, I can’t wait to use it to help with the deer. I’m a plumber over 20 years, water leaks, short service line replacement on fair soil conditions. You’ll make your money back quickly. Yard maintenance and clean up is great. Very handy at my age, I’m blessed to have one again, not what I had but I appreciate this one more because I had to sell my E26 😞 God will restore me but until then I’m thankful for my unit. I took mine apart and changed the controls, I didn’t want to unlearn 20 years of experience. Pretty simple to do. It took about an hour in the Oklahoma heat, glad that’s over with. Good luck y’all…
I agree with you. Never thought about the deer! I’ll pass on the Oklahoma heat. This little break we are having with the rain is nice. I live in Norman, OK. What machine did you get?
@@OurLifeInTrees Agrotk QH12
Oh Wow! Norman! Small world. Boomer!
It's funny to see you bragging about the machine/with warranty, then see you crying 5 things you hate about it. Take it back to the dealership.
Haha. The 5 things I hate were easy fixes besides slow and tippy. I still cry about the slow. I made a follow-up video fixing the 5 things I hate about it as well and made it better in an afternoon. The dealer did send me some free touch up paint to make it pretty and make me cry less. lol
Love the video currently waiting for my YH 14 fully loaded to come in around July 15th unfortunately I live in California and have to have it shipped to me so I won't even get to see it except when it gets delivered
Thank you. Nice! That stinks you have to wait to have it shipped. I have been waiting for a couple months now for a mini skid to arrive from China. I’m supposed to get it tomorrow!! Fingers crossed.
@@OurLifeInTrees yeah it's not fun waiting lol we even debated driving down there to go get it just not worth it CSO shipping company through kymron only 1600 we would burn 8to900 in fuel alone kind of crazy how cheap these guys can ship stuff and I hope everything goes smooth with your machine can't wait to see the video
I've been looking at one of these little excavators that has the swing boom. Do you think it's worth it?
It’s worth it if you need it for something, which in my experience is very rare. I used mine to dig out a little creek before and once to dig a trench to run electric to a hot tub for a cabin in the woods. There were trees in the way and the side swing was handy. I wonder if it makes it a bit “looser” in the front and might be less wobbly without it. For me it is worth it, I’ve seen a lot of guys that love their machine and don’t have it.
I get it. I’m not a good enough mechanic to not get a warranty. And it’s very unlikely that I would buy machinery from Facebook.
Me too. lol
@@OurLifeInTreesOkay, you sold me. Easily.
Thinking about buying one definitely go to a dealer small payment an warranty
My thoughts exactly.
Thanks for the info bro, been kicking around getting a kymron.
Thanks. Glad it’s helpful.
$3800 into my AGT QH12R plus a couple hundred adding on a cooling fan and hyd cooler with filter. No complaints and so far no issues either.
Nice. Amazing the work that can be done for so little money.
Where did you buy it
You are absolutely right, and I bought the ZX22D $24,000 From Kymron. I'm sick enough of people's crap comments and They need to put there iPhones made in Shenzen China down. YES and as well everyone else's Vietnamese Samsung phones DOWN! Also turn off your Foreign TV and read a book with a home brew cup of coffee! Not your Keurig China coffee maker!
Haha Agreed!!
Ha ha ha....I still have a cast iron stove and heater in my shed out back........ Yet I built cell towers, so many parking lot warriors have no clue how things really work
Great video, can't wait to see the new toy when it gets here. Thanks for sharing your experiences and helping us to decide if we want to go down the direct order hole 🕳 😁and you were having way to much fun with that excavator break dance, that was awesome!
Haha. Thank you. I laughed every time I saw the “dance”. Haha
Whatever makes you feel good about your purchase. Sounds pretty salty. JS
I feel pretty good honestly. I would rather be in less debt, but feel good anyway. lol
You are right ! Auction machines are junk !!! I see people spent more time fixing them than working on them!!!
For the most part, yes. A few decent ones get thrown in, but a lot of horror stories as well.
I have same unit but without swing boom selling it for $6700 already modified!
Nice. That a great deal. A lot of back saving for a little money.
You get what you pay for!
Very true
Great job!
Thank uou
Try lifting the front or back of your UTV using just the curl function of the bucket.
Ok. Good call. I’ll try it
The siding looks gorgeous absolutely gorgeous
Thank you. We love it.
Great review. We have a 2024 RZR razor XP 1000. We are older but I really wanted the speed. Or at least I thought I did. Well, as it turns out we’re gonna take a hit, but this is not the buggy for us. The three things I hate about it. You get so dusty. The dust comes in the cabin down by your legs and it just swirls around your face, we have to wear safety glasses or sunglasses anytime we ride and that includes even if we’re by ourselves. the other thing that is very annoying how we cannot have a conversation because it is so loud and that’s not fun. It is also extremely hot. we are trying to decide whether to get a general XP 1000 or an expedition ultimate. Both would be two seers from what I read there’s a lot of noise in the ultimate but that’s really what I would love to have. My husband wants the general XP 1000. I did read where you can switch the clutch out in the expedition and it helps with the sound I wish I knew someone who actually had one to verify that, I really appreciate your review. Thank you.
I agree. Same reasons why I didn’t like my RZR. I love my General but the Xpedition looks amazing!!!
you may not know this but if you put five of them together, you can form Voltron
Hahaha. If that were true I would be picking 4 more up today!
Hey, just fyi. When loading or offloading like that, you can use the boom and arm to help push / pull you so you're not dragging the bucket on the trailer or in the dirt.
Not a bad idea to try.
Got some strange audio stuff going on in this. But man that place is going to be awesome! That spray foam is pretty spendy isnt it?
Yeah, stupid mic. Thank you. Yes. Spray foam is not cheap at all!! But so worth it. Sigh…
Thanks 👍Great review. I’m sure it saves you a lot of back ache.
I can’t imagine how much this thing has saved me from a lot of effort.
Hvala za izkušnjo😮 Srečno.
Thank you
Could you flip the exhaust outlet plate around and get it to center up
I did try that and it actually makes it worse.
Here's your sign!!!😊
Hahahah Very much so.
Spend more money and it will be faster 😅
Haha so true.
I would only use chains and turnbuckles.
Good call
Will this thing dig a trench in rocky desert soil? I'm not saying like...a hard slab of granite...but dry packed soil with lots of gravel and rocks in it...?
I’m sure it would, but would take more effort.
I lo ed the video i have xp 1000 2015 but i want to go to this . I live how they feel when i set in one. Watch the black slider on your shocks i had the same ones an i always cleaned the mud out but they rub a hole in shock body.. since then i had Custom Suspension out of Ky put new valve ing an single spring on my shocks omg the ride was way better than shock therapy set up...
Thank you. Good call on the shocks. I will keep and eye open.
Do you store it indoors or covered outdoors? I live in a humid area and was wondering how it resist rust
I keep it in my shop. Check out my video called the 5 things I hate about my mini excavator. I left it outside for about 3 weeks and you can see what happened to it.
Ali ste poskušali cepiti drva?
I have not. Sounds like a good idea though.
What's your opinion on taking something like this up an incline? Is it tippy? Can it pull itself up? Thanks for the review!
It is tippy. I certainly recommend having the bucket downhill to catch yourself. Plenty of power, lots of tippy.
@@OurLifeInTrees Thanks! I'm thinking of bringing something like this up a hill to scrape topsoil/roots off an outcrop of rock. Good to have an idea what to expect before I get too far. Cheers!
@@thirstfast1025 I’m glad I can help. I plan to get some hill videos made in the future.
China thanks you for pulling money out of the American economy and using that money to support Chinese workers, Chinese factories, and China's economy instead.
I am sure they do. Just like when we buy from Amazon, Walmart, eBay, the corner store, etc. I can’t afford an American made machine. I would love to be rich some day, until then, I’ll just buy what I can afford. Thanks for your support!
@@OurLifeInTrees How does it feel to be part of the problem, Trees? How does it feel to abandon our country and stab our economy, and our now-jobless workers, in the back?
@@jasminelindros8923 How was anyone stabbed in the back? It’s either buy one of these, or use a shovel. I can’t afford an American made one. Where do all the products come from we buy at Walmart, Amazon, the corner store, etc.? Did you know that even a Cadillac taillight may come in a box that says Made In China? Maybe if our country wouldn’t price our own products so high that the average Joe can’t afford them, more of us would buy them. Unfortunately, you have to be rich to afford a lot of cool stuff. That’s why I drove a 250k mile old truck. New ones are CRAZY expensive.
@@OurLifeInTrees What's the recent news from John Deere, Trees? You had a hand in those job losses. How many other excuses do you have for screwing our country?
@@jasminelindros8923 My buddy just bought a nice Deere skid. $108k for it. Not in my wheelhouse. I’m not to blame because I can’t afford a Deere any way you look at it. My excavator costs the same as a residential John Deere zero turn lawn mower. Look up the price of a Deere Z740R. Hey, have yourself a great night!!
Don't put a quick hitch on this, you'll find the thumb bracket is about 1/2 too low to get the bucket to curl in all the way with the QH on.
Wow. Didn’t know that. Thanks.
You need to invest in a set of ramps, or get a trailer with buil in ramps. The method you're using is ridiculous amd dangerous. Without supporting the back of the trailer you're risking lifting the back wheels of your truck off the ground. Do that on a hill and you are going for a pucker factor ride.
I have ramps under the trailer. It’s quicker and easier to do this when there is a dip to put the trailer in. If my 2200lb machine lifts my 6000lb SUV, sure would make for a cool video! lol.
Thanks for the warning! Just brought home my mini and was looking at a dead tree as I was going around the yard looking for things to "fix". Think I may leave that one alone for now and work on some digging first.
Yeah, I agree with you. Wish I would have realized how easily those branches can snap off and fall. I’m actually now buying a helmet to use for some jobs. lol.
What’s up man. I like that fan set up. How much air do they put out?
Hard to describe, but enough air it was work the work to build and install for sure.
Very nice Video! =) greetings from Sweden!
Thank you! It was fun to make.
Put a bigger sprocket on it will go faster.
If I could do that I would. Good idea.
Not shocking. Don’t think I’ve ever seen you lower your tools when you walk away from the machine. HaVe ArMs, WiLl OpErAtE.
Not shocking with what I know now.
