  • I bought a new Chinese mini excavator this past summer and never got around to finishing this video. Finally, after months… it’s unloaded!
    I had never used any machine like this and had to get used to and learn how to use it. It didn’t take long and I’m glad I bought it.
    I bought this micro track hoe or micro trackhoe as they are called. It’s a Kymron sold out of Oklahoma and is made in china. It has a 14 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine which gives it possibly more power than a 2200lb mini excavator needs. I use it for all kinds of projects, from digging, trenching, picking up logs, moving rocks, etc etc. I have a 8” bucket, a 16” bucket, a 30” grading bucket and a rake or grapple. It comes with a 36” hydraulic dozer blade and a hydraulic thumb. It also has a hydraulic oil cooler with electric fan.

    I see you pulling a wagon with that.
    Some people actually put a trailer hitch on the dozer blade to pull a small trailer to haul tools, materials, supplies, etc around their property.
    Cotton top has a good video on how to put a hitch on his.
    When pulling a trailer you just drive the tracks backwards while facing forward which is pretty easy.

      I have been thinking about doing that. I like the dozer blade idea for picking it up and setting it down easily. I was thinking about adding one to the rear on the counterweight.
      I’ll look up cotton top. Thanks for the tip!

    Thanks for posting this, I've been binging on mini excavator videos also. Been agonizing between a groundhog brand and the kind you bought, still leaning more towards the one that you bought but maybe the yh14

      Let me know if you need more detail on anything. I’m about to do some maintenance and will film the process and what is required to do some basics.

      @@OurLifeInTrees my main question is, with the joysticks way far forward like that is that comfortable or not.
      Also curious as to just how fast it goes and does it shake a lot when you're lifting or digging?
      The videos of the groundhog excavators seem like they shake a whole lot, a lot more than the kymron

      @@tonymartin6559 the joysticks don’t bother me. It’s sometimes more comfortable to lean forward.
      It goes about 1.1mph according to my math. Slowest thing I have ever driven in my life. My kids 6 volt power wheels will leave this in the dust.
      It can be jerky if not used to it. The more I use it, the less jerky it becomes.

    Kymron claims they do all this extra work to their machines so they’re not jerky. Then mark them up 3 grand over the price of the same Chinese model. That thing is jerky as hell. My FF12 is no where near that jerky.

      I’d be interested to try a machine like yours and you try a machine like mine and really see how they are firsthand.
      I don’t know all the details and inner workings, but I do know I was super jerky on it when I first got it and I’m not very jerky on it now. This video was the first few days of me using any piece of equipment besides a riding mower.
      I really like all the added features on the Kymron over most others, but the ease of purchase and customer service are great. I called over there yesterday and asked if they sell touch up paint. It’s in the mail today.

      You can also put a log splitter on that.

    I have the RH14-3 12hs on it.
    I do like it has lots of power.
    Is light in the back end.
    Made some stabilizer forks that clamp to the blade.
    About 30 in long forks.
    I will say start checking all your bolts.
    Fans for the engine compartment
    should be standard.
    The engine compartment runs HOT & your sitting on top of it.
    Putting fans on mine.
    I have been using mine in very rocky ground in North Arkansas.
    Works good.
    If you are mechanically inclined you'll be ok.
    Overall its a good machine.

      What do you mean by forks? I’m interested to see that.

    I was looking at getting the rake also for a mini to use with powered thumb. Is it worth it over the bucket (for grabbing various things) as it looks like a grapple setup like tractors have?

    • @OurLifeInTrees
      @OurLifeInTrees  3 місяці тому +1

      It is worth it. I wouldn’t use it for rocks but is great for debris, vines, sticks, logs, etc etc.

      @@Nubbz336 yeah I really like it a lot. I have no regrets about getting this machine.
      One benefit, I guess you pay for, with buying mine, is that the owner took me out to the woods and showed me how it works. I got to practice with it and he ran through all the maintenance stuff and how things work. I was clueless. So to me, it was a big benefit. Also, being in stock and I could pick it up same day was a win too. I don’t think I’m patient enough to wait on shipping. Haha.

    Throttle is too high. Keep it as low as possible, but still has power.

    • @user-ld7wh2ff4m
      @user-ld7wh2ff4m 5 місяців тому +1

      Learn to be smooth at full throttle. If it was made to run at half throttle it would be governed out or have a limiter on it. There's a reason the engine runs that fast, it's meant to be operated at full throttle. Good luck with your little unit ,I've wanted one forever.

    • @OurLifeInTrees
      @OurLifeInTrees  5 місяців тому +1

      @@user-ld7wh2ff4m I don’t disagree. It’s harder to be smooth at higher RPMs. Especially turning! Very jerky at higher RPMs

      @MrMEmEmEmEMEMEeeeeee that's a fact ,good job figuring it out. I never would have guessed by the sound of it or the fact he has mentioned it in other videos,or the fact it has a pull start engine,that sounds just like a gasser. I bet you wouldn't run your riding lawnmower at half throttle. Guess what ,those have gas engines too.
