Had wrist, thumb and elbow done at the same time. No movement for 2 weeks. They took out stitches and put me in a hard brace. That will be used for 6 to 8 weeks. I uses cocoa butter and Silicone strips and my scars look amazing. This brace is removable so I can start my pt. I'm like you and will wait on my right hand

I am week 6 post trapezium and arthoplasry and I am still in a splint 😐. The soreness and tenderness is horrific ( no pain as such) but it’s been a hard road for me. I am extremely active and live alone so it’s been difficult. Next week the splint should be off for good but I will still need a brace I think for quite some time. Thanks for your tips 🙏

thank you sandy! sitting here at day 6 after my surgery.....i agree completely, take the pain meds sooner rather than later. i waited like you did, that was a mistake. i felt much better by day 3. i called my doc yesterday in a panic, saw lots of black and blue in thumb and forearm after a hot shower. doc said it was normal, it dissipated.

Long story short . 7 steroid injections , 1 SLAP tear surgery, acromiom grinding….. I’m still in so so so much pain every day all day.. and still cannot lift or reach with my arm. it’s been going on 4 years this march. Although I knew it was SIRVA 3 months after it started . My doctor literally blew me off and said it was “normal wear and tear”. And although I told everyone it’s SIRVA.. they treated it as an athletic injury and it went septic .

I am <12hrs from my surgery check in time & I am scared to death. I’m watching ALL of your videos as so far every single thing you’ve stated regarding the steroid injections not working, not opening jars, & the non stop pain is exactly what boat I’m in. I’ve needed this surgery for at minimum 2yrs, & know it’s pretty much my last resort. Luckily I’m having my left(non dominant) hand done, & hoping it works. Thanks so much for all the amazing info!❤

Great video, ask all the questions that I wonder about. Very thorough. I bought mine several years ago and tried to use it once following the company’s instructions. Too scary for me. I didn’t return it but considered tossing it a few times because I wasn’t using it. Then I found another video in which someone said they boil the tips using a tea strainer instead of tossing them. At $1 a pop, that sounds much better. And now seeing how to use it without harming my eyeballs, I’m going to try it again. So many good tips in your video. Safflower oil, huh? Thanks.

I have had severe dry eye/Meibomitis since my early 30s (nearly 20 years) from multiple issues: ocular rosacea, MGD, corneal nerve damage from CXL surgery for keratoconus, dysautonomia, etc. I thought it was bad not having a lipid layer until I had the CXL surgery 12 years ago, which took away my aqueous layer, as well. I'd do anything to have my "dishwater tears" back. I have also lived in the desert SW for 20 years, which just adds to the fun. I can wear eyeliner, but I have not been able to wear mascara since my first corneal transplant 5 years ago. I didn't realize it made my eyes burn more until I had to stop wearing it for months, and I have such long, straight lashes that look terrible without a curler and mascara. This just sucks, especially as we get older and have different makeup needs. I now get VBeam plus IPL for my ocular rosacea/rosacea from a derm clinic. It also heats up the Meibomian glands, so that my nearby optometrist can express them post-treatment. I used to just get IPL, but it doesn't melt the clogged glands as well as VBeam, and for whatever reason, VBeam doesn't treat the dilated capillaries as well as IPL, so we are officially combining them next month. The results don't last long due to all my issues, but I do notice a nice oily feeling in my eyes for 2 weeks that feels so good, and then less dryness for another 6 weeks or so. I'll take it! At least it's an option for those of us who won't benefit from LipiFlow or hot compresses due to ocular rosacea, as they just create more inflammation and dilated capillaries. Best wishes to you.

Firstly thank you so much for your video's I'm watching them over and over. I'm 5 weeks post operation same surgery basal and tendon transfer. I'm trying my best to be okay but I'm struggling. The constant burning at both operation sites are depressing. I took pain meds for first 2 weeks but I don't want to start to need them so I stopped. The pain that gets to me the most is the burning inside my wrist where they removed the tendon. I can't walk around without the sling either. If I go out without the sling I have to go home because the burning inside my wrist is so so intense. I finally get the cast off a week today and I cannot wait. Its my dominant hand and it's starting to depress me wondering how long the recovery will take? Also I have checked most of your videos and comments and I don't think anyone else mentioned a burning in their wrist. I expected the burning in my thumb and also that doesn't really get to me but the wrist is horrific and I can't do anything and it starts. I am not very impressed with the after care I've received either. I tried to get some answers from my surgeon's secretary and was told to wait until my cast comes off next week. I'm pretty active normally so this has affected my mental health been so restricted in what I can do. I am pretty self reliant and live alone. Normally I just get on with pain or work through it. I've had several surgeries including having back surgery and none have been as hard as this. I would love to hear if anyone has any thoughts on the burning wrist pain as I have to wait at least a week to talk to my surgeon. Thank you in advance 😊

After surgery I immobilized and wore the gauze with splint. Then on the 10th day I got a cast. That cast was removed after 13 days and I was immobilized with a removable splint. I wore that for 3 days, but not in the shower. Now it's day 30 and I've been wearing that splint only when I go to bed. During the day, I only wear a short splint or my thumb brace, depending on what I'm doing. Most of the day, my hand is bare.

Hey Sandy, Do you wash your face and eyes and do this right before you go to bed and then just add more of the "take the day off" balm on your eyes and nulid device? As your last step? not add anymore drops to your eyes or wipe them off at all? Also do you ever express your lids yourself ? I just got my nulids about 2 weeks ago and it looks like I can still see some white thick oil in some of my glands after using it. I have been trying to express them with a q tip, but maybe I shouldn't? Have horrible MGD, ocular rosacea - you name it! My doctor did iLux procedure a few months ago and I think it helped more than lipiflow. I'll do it again. I pray this nulids device will help - I'm going to buy some of the estee lauder cleanser tomorrow if I can find it :) Sorry for all of the questions... Thanks so much!

Hi Sandy. Thanks for the great review of NuLids! We have recently discovered why NuLids works so well without the application of heat. It has to do with the non-Newtonian properties of meibum (the oil inside the Meibomian glands.). Like quicksand or ketchup, the meibum inside the glands can turn semi-solid as we age, in the presence of Demodex and or blepharitis. Just like shaking the ketchup bottle or stepping on quicksand, the increase of what is called shear forces creations by the unique oscillation and vibration mechanism of NuLids quickly liquifies the meibum that has hardened allowing it to flow normally again. This is why it is important to use NuLids on the surface of the closed eyelids which allows the oscillation/ vibrations to penetrate the full length of the embedded Meibomian glands. Hope that helps and that you for your very good explanation on NuLids

Thx for your videos. I have had both hands CMC'd with tendon LTRI. Having used silicon, Vitamin E and arnica, the best treatment for an angry red scar is plain old Vaseline. A number of dermatologists on YT also strongly recommend Vaseline to keep the scar hydrated. When the red, angry scar starts to settle , the silicon creams are useful.
