Hey, What are the best mods to start with RBR for someone who has never played it? Cars, tracks, setup?
in my opinion, beamng is still in early acess, although RBR is wayy older, so I'd say let beamng go into 1.0 and then see how it is!
I just did some real world driving in a MK2 Escort and I was surprised to find I could match the subjective "feeling" of the real world in BeamNG far better than RBR/RSF did. Obviously completely personal, so choose whatever game you want and enjoy any Sim Rally you can 🥰
Honestly my favorite thing about Beam Rally is that no other rally game is gonna let me take a fleet base model pickup, a police cruiser, HD flatbed van, or a just any awful creation you make in the garage. Beam will still time you and put you on the board, i dont think i have a single time set in a "rally" car.
4:28 FOV police lol but yeah, love the video and love that there's more indians getting into sim racing
It's sad to see that BeamNG has a crushing public image problem (mostly entirely by YT shorts) which as an avid Beam player are sad to see. Beam is so much more than a sandbox. Hell, you can go from playing singleplayer rally to playing on full fledged roleplay servers with mods. The Beam community is great, especially once you get to know the right pepole. i have 700 hours in beam, and i couldn't reccomend it more; I've gone from playing casually to even knowing by memory the production years of certain (vanilla) cars.
I agree with you. I blame the non sensical YT short where a giant hammer crushing cars is being narrated by an annoying Ai voice. Aside from the popularity it has gained as a "crash simulator", there's so many levels which not a lot of people explore. The potential is really there.
As someone who's playing BeamNG since 2013, nowadays it's really much more than a sandbox or crashing sim as most think it is, i mean hell even AC wasn't that intuitive to drive (Seemed too stiff in the reactions) with a mouse, learned drifting and honesty justq being a better driver.
7:13 is the covet enjoying it tho
Covet needs to cover up.
@@darthsnape 😧
I love BeamNG. The recent career gameplay component pulled me back into it, and now the rally component may help convince me to stick around for a while. I got the game in 2016, and it's come a long way. BeamNG is starting to really come together as a driving game built from first principles, ground up. But its seat at the rally sim table is still a jumble of finely engineered wooden sticks assembled with precision and meticulous care. There are still a number of sim racing elements that BeamNG has only begun to dig into more, recently. The chair is still half-finished, but man, it's already amazing. Just think what it might achieve in another decade (at which point BeamNG in 2034 will be as old as RBR is today).
P.S. Does the RBR+mod set simulate mechanical components to some degree like BeamNG does? You made a good point about mechanical damage. Running a car with too much boost or otherwise putting too much demand too fast on the engine, breaking half shafts, cracking a radiator, oil leaks, fuel leaks, botching gear shifts, etc aree all things I've never had to worry about to this degree in other sim racing games.
@@dakaodo Yes, RSF RBR does take mechanical components into consideration. The steering rack forces are accounted in for ffb. Even though you can't see the damage visually, there's a lot of ways you can end your race in RBR. You can damage the suspension components just as easily in there, it's just a tad bit, let's say less fragile, as those components are tuned for rally. But ultimately, yes, damage scale is insanely brutal. You can over rev the engine, damage the clutch, lose a tyre, get a puncture, have your actuators damaged, or even your pump.
great video! i'm sure as the rally mode will get developed this will become the best rally sim ever made!
Agreed!
I have about 840 hours in this game. Maybe about 600 of them are purely rallying. It's my favourite motorsport and I will never get tired of it. The point is, I have 350 hours in EA WRC, 220 hours in DiRT Rally, and about 348 hours in DiRT Rally 2.0. And yes, those games are brilliant and I really like them but Beam just feels different and in some ways, better. In fact, me and my friend are currently developing a full on rally event in BeamMP. It's not ready yet, but it will include thirteen rallies with 8-15 custom stages made by me per rally, one rally per week, with full on stage maps, custom race files and lots of other preparations. Basically we want to make a rally event in BeamNG as functional as possible. Will be fun to see if it works out how we want it to.
I don't have a lot of hours in this game as I heavily invested in Dirt rally 2.0 prior to my introduction to RBR and this beautiful thing. And I am in the same boat, I do like those games too, but BeamNG's deformation and random mechanical failures adds an extra layer of immersion which the masses aren't ready for yet. But I really wish to see a properly evolved beamNG rally system. I'm excited to see what you and your friend come up with. It's going to be legendary!
Great video! Agree that both are good, maybe one day BeamNG will be the best rally sim. Also I love the little jokes too, like "may the downforce be with you"
Let’s hope beamNG would be out of beta by then.
Ive always dreamed of rally in beamng so i started my own beam rally championship, going pretty good
A rally championship you say? I'd love some details
@@darthsnape Hey, on this acc now We host a rally every thursday and wednesday (same event) at 6pm uk. (2 days so more ppl can compete) We run about 4 stages, 2 mins each. 1st stage is SSS (city stage or race track) and last one is powerstage. We have 2 car classes, BRC1 and 2 1 is 380hp awd, 1280kg and 2 is 215hp awd 1350kg, being the rookie class. We are also releasing a rwd class after this rally. On saturdays we host sprint rallies in brc1 cars. 1 stage, 3 runs, 2 best runs count towards ur time. More info is in our server
Jimmer had already said it before. Beam is currently the recipie for a rally masterpiece with it's great behaviour on low grip surfaces and extremely remarkable suspension behaviour. If the number of nodes on a tyre increases eventually it would also be a crazy improvement as it's the only area where i see slight flaws in handling and they're minor.
Agreed
i have sunk a few hours now into beamng's dirt rally (the pessima in jungle track) and it is so unforgiving which is so nice. if you get a lot of airtime, good luck landing without damaging your vehicle. if you even slightly tap a tree, your car may snap in half. i like beamng more :)
That’s exactly the reason why I find it so appealing. The amount of patience and determination required to master or even be remotely decent at it is incredible. It kind of forces you to grow and develop skills which would be otherwise seen as unattainable.
@@darthsnape nice that we agree on this
Ok, BeanNG, you are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of master.
If not the master, then perhaps the boss before final boss? Maybe the Kaileena to Dahaka (RBR)?

Yo
I noticed that on the repository and thought you were collaborating with the devs 😂 guess it might be a good idea to ask for a job, they've hired modders before
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing yo, looks like beam rally is a small world. Did you ever get to try it out?
@southern_potato i did, made a little video about what I'm hoping for it.
gonna pick this up during the steam winter sale
Totally worth it. It is the ultimate simulator.
1:31 heyyy my guy showing face today. Okay buddy.
Haha, I thought it was about time. More stuff on the way!
as someone who played dirt rally 2 and ea WRC religiously, beamng rally is a great breath of fresh air. Having your front halfshaft break and make you understeer into a tree all because you hit a bump or curb wrong is almost satisfying even though you just ruined your possibly fast run. I cant wait for rally in beamng to evolve.
Very true. Trying to make it in one piece and making it a fast run are two things which are incredibly hard to pull off. The thrill is simply unmatched.
+1 for this! I know some people complain that some BeamNG cars (vanilla) are too fragile. Speaking from a lifetime of moderate daily driving to local autocross and rallycross, I feel like between the sim/rally choices, BeamNG makes me fear for my car much more like IRL. When an IRL spinout on a wet but otherwise normal pavement road curve at 25 mph (45 kph?) can cause $3000 damage and visibly camber a wheel from sideswiping a curb (as one of several personal examples), cars aren't that durable at some angles, at bicycle/faster speeds. I played the heck out of DR and DR2.0 (it helped indirectly prepare me for auto/rallycross later), Assetto Corsa, etc. I've never tried the more arcadey eye candy driving games. These games are all understandably intended to sell players a fantasy of being able to drive a car somewhat unsafely at high speeds. I have accidentally or deliberately yeeted my cars through corners and cuts that pinballed me hard, yet was still able to blithely carry on with my race with barely any steering damage. Not so in BeamNG. :D I can swap paint with other cars and guardrails. Ding some body panels, scrape off a bumper. I can even take a calculated gamble on driving straight over some smaller street curbs, gutters, or offroad corner shortcuts. But just like IRL, the game always forces me to seriously consider the calculus of reckless driving if my goal is to actually continue driving in a race.
@@dakaodo Fascinating. Perhaps rally cars aren't as fragile as beamNG's unofficial cars tend to be. Cherrier FCV for example. Even though it has a gravel and tarmac variant for rally, both tend to be overly fragile at times. But I do get the point, it is just using some base components and "rally" parts to make a version of said car, as opposed to having a proper purpose built rally car. I'm sure BeamNG devs can make this game into a proper rally sim.
Do you encounter the problem of PHPR NEO overheating and stop working?
I haven’t yet. How long was your gaming session when you encountered this?
@@darthsnape I played for around 10-15 minutes at max 50Hz, and after that, it stopped working/broke. I touched the PHR Neo, and it was very hot. This is the second time I’ve encountered this issue-the first one already got replaced by the distributor.
@@shinjiizac That's interesting. It could be a bad batch? Or maybe you're using too many frequencies at once?
@@darthsnape I don’t think so, because the distributor replaced both units, and I still encountered the same issue. As for throttle, I’m only using TC and ABS for the brake pedal. I also checked with my distributor, and they said this is the first time they’ve received a report about this problem 🤣
@shinjiizac I’m hearing about this for the first time too lol.
Just beginning this adventure and have no point of reference at this time. This is second time I have heard about BeamNG in as many days. The first was through SleepyPants SimRacing yesterday and now on this channel. Personally I am looking for sims at this point as opposed to games. Not knocking the game thing it is just a personal preference at this point in my journey. I will be getting this and RBR as soon as possible. Thanks for the input, will be looking through your content for more information and I am looking forward to whatever you post next. Subscribed and notifications set to "all."
Welcome aboard, and thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Yo! :)
I'd say beamNG is my pick as soon the pace notes get implemented. It is less frustrating to make a mistake in beam because the crashes are so good.. but I think some of the RBR tracks will forever be king, especially on the pavement side of things
I have been playing a good mix of RBR and BeamNG for a few months now and to this day I’m unsure which I enjoy more. I don’t really mind RBR’s graphics and I can live with the slightly unoptimised performance of BeamNg. I too look forward to proper implementation of pacenotes and might start playing it more.
@@bearsjunky23hof88 hey bears!
I don't suck half as much in other sims as i do on Beamng, but i will always come back to it just because the game makes mistakes seem completely harmless despite the wreck you leave behind being a ball of flaming steel compacted against a rock at 700mph 😂
There kind of is pace notes. Even though they're not voiced they're still useful.
@turbo_marc yeah but you need a lot of concentration to drive already and if you use FPV to play with a wheel it's esentially useless, at least that was my experience on a 32" monitor. I bet they're MAD weird with VR
BeamNG feels the most intuitive to drive out of all the sims, it's amazing. It has it's fair share of shortcomings though, the most unfortunate one being that multiplayer is only supported by mods (BeamMP). As an overall package I'd say that RBR (RSF) is still ahead, but Beam is definitely worth your time.
I agree. Despite its shortcomings, it is one hell of a sandbox.
Which one do you think wins the rally sim crown? BeamNG or RBR?
And stil.... RBR BNG got no proper suspention, surface and tyre physics. And GFX is almost on a level with grandpa BRB. It does not help them to welcome customers over WF2 and many other "LOD-scared" guys.
@@darthsnape The fact that so many people are comparing a hyper modded rally simulator that is considered to be the best in his class with a general physics simulation that barely has any rally gameplay in it says a lot. The potential of BeamNg is through the roof. And @unotoli saying BeamNG suspension is worse than RBR is crazy, for the rest I agree with you
@@Clemmort I agree. Imagine if BeamNG devs decide to make it a serious rally game. Nothing would come close.
@@unotoli I don't agree with you saying that bng suspension is bad but it's really well done and you should try it yourself
@@unotoli what do you mean "no proper suspension"?? you can literally see the suspension working and you can tune every part of it also it looks 100x better than rbr in every way, saying that rbr is graphically better than beamng makes me think you are just trolling
buying these.. even invicta.. wont give me the jump experience from logitech g29 to gt dd pro.. im already happy with g29-ddpro-DD+ its more than enough.. no more upgrades😂
Now that is an excellent perspective. You are absolutely right. No amount of upgrades will feel like going from g29 to a DD.
regarding your comment at 15:30 i don't know if it is just me but i have the simagic alpha and the Simagic GT Neo wheel with the simgrade VX-PRO Pedals plugged into the pc and it all works fine
Really? Everything working fine? FFB?
@@darthsnape yes all working fine and automatically adjusts the settings when you start your game through the simagic software
@sony-ml3ok 👀That’s news! I gotta see what’s up with these pedals.
@@darthsnapemy pedals have to be setup with their own software but pedals and wheel base all work together. the pedals I use are amazing all loadcell with the brake beaing 200Kg and totally toolless adjustment mounting holes about 4 inches on centre
The Asetek is way better then the simmagic there no comparison
Actually, there is. Saying Asetek is way better than Simagic is like saying one camera is better than the other simply because it has more megapixels. On paper, yes, Asetek boasts some impressive stuff. But real world is where the stuff matters. They're really close in terms of ffb. So much so that an average joe won't be able to tell them apart. You'd have to spend a lot of time with each base tweaking and understanding. And then maybe, maybe you'll be able to tell them apart.
I have the r12, is it worth exchanging for the mini?
Until and unless you really think that there is something unsatisfactory about R12, I don't think it will be. From an economical standpoint, it makes little sense. But it's simracing we are talking about. If you think that it makes sense, then by all means, it will be worth it. FFB wise alpha mini is ahead, and if someone is picking between two, I'll suggest them a mini. But if you are upgrading, I don't think it's worth it. But that's just my opinion.
@@darthsnape I'm now in such situation. bw r12 and mini , where mini is 100euro expensive... But man price diff in wheels for starter is so big ... I could take round wheel monza esx + formula mod for under 200EURO, while cheapest simmagic for bouth round and formula wheels would be 700euro... If you could recommend alternative to wheel selection on simagic base, would appreciate... But now I see moza is more tolerant to enter sim racing for much less price
@@andriyolyvko8211 Yeah, Moza's pricing is very welcoming. Simagic's pricing is comparatively higher. If possible. do check out GT Neo (simagic) as it is priced quite nicely. For round rim, I have to say I actually like the moza's CS rim solely because of the sheer number of inputs. Other best thing would be to get a custom rim and a QR.
😂😂😂 this sound like a sponsor bash video then a review
I know 😂
Excellent review. The firmware downgrade was an impressive angle to gain perspective on how focused Simagic is about taking care of their existing customer base.

LOL! Love it. I can’t believe I didn’t stumble across you until recently. Seriously though, your work is fantastic 🙌 Informative, well presented, well edited, and funny as all hell. Keep it up bro, this is a refreshing take on the otherwise mundane sim racing UA-cam ‘norm’.
Man you are funny as hell, selena gomez reference killed me "The heart want what the heart want". These pedals are great, i will go for them this month. I like the evolution part, buy one part at the time and test the effects on my driving.
Absolutely. The modularity is a great addition!
thanks for this video. I am considering going to simagic from my Moza R 12. The R 12 is pretty good but the force feedback is a little bit rough around ages for some of the older titles and if I turn it down, I lose the details but for most games it’s more than good enough. Should I waste money to upgrade or not?
I have compared r12 to Alpha mini as well. If you have not seen, you should check that out too. Now regarding the upgrade, I’d say if you are not satisfied with the overall ffb experience, then yeah, go for it. But you also have to factor in the level of seriousness towards this hobby, and also the fact that it is a rabbit hole. There’s always better gear. Simagic is often pitched against VRS and Simucube, and is generally considered somewhat close. General consensus regarding R12, and R9 is that it is good for the most part, but loses slightly to Simagic. Sure majority of people would say that I’m biased but not many people have had the chance to test both bases back and forth. In the end, if you think Simagic should suffice you, then by all means, go ahead.
😂 what's your favorite? Ive tried them all except for beamng. I used to play dirt 2 but now its mostly ea wrc.
For fun, EA WRC. For serious business, Beamng and RBR!
explain details very well. good job
Thank you 🙏
Simmagic is only 10nm on v3. It is not the case at all anymore that Simmagic is stronger, it used to be 13nm only because of the 252w power pack, that also overheated the base.
What's this game
First is Dirt rally 2.0, Second is EA WRC, Third is BeamNG, Last one is RSF-RBR
Excellent review with great customization tips. Did you maybe consider trying their pedal stop collar to reduce the travel? I would maybe also consider trying P-L100 (long throttle pedal plate).
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I haven't tried the collar, I don't think it will be compatible. And I have been eyeing the long plate but with an inverted set. Not sure how much of an upgrade it will be compared to non inverted p1000s.
Love your humor, paired with expertise, thanks and finally subbed.
Thank you very much! 💪🏼 Welcome aboard!
Hahaha your sense of humour and knack for explaining things is incredible, keep up the good work!
Thanks a ton!
Great video. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said here. I have been using/overusing these for 2 solid years and they’re in perfect condition.
These are unbelievably robust. I wonder if other pedal sets are equally/more reliable and robust.
It looks very good, but I'm considering this model and another 290GP
290GP seems like good stuff!
@@darthsnape Great minds think alike
You deserve a good following which I'm sure you'll get! Excellent video
Thank you! Much appreciated.
You are of my favorite sim race creators Im always happy when i see a new video :) Trust is so important and Heusinkveld is the king in that Pimax for example have one the best VR headsets out there, when it works Their QC is terrible and i have heard a lot of scetchy tactics used. Now they put a subcription model to split the costs to help possibly but what they actually did was to confuse anyone with their miscommunication and make us worry about what is going to happen A simple rule is never confuse someone if you want them to spend a lot of money I wish a company like Heusinkveld is gonna appear in the VR market and shake it up with a true PCVR headset thats comfortable and has great visuals
Hey @tkdmp5698 Thanks a lot. Didn’t see you for a while, glad you’re here. And yeah, you’re right - Trust is paramount. Subscription model isn’t something to frown about *if* the product is that good. But it isn’t (most of the times, like you mentioned), so it kind of disappoints.
