    When using the La Prima for Dirt Rally 2, try the damper on 0% and anti oscillation at 20%. Increase or decrease ffb if there's still oscillation. Don't use 'gyro' either. Also try rallying in Asetto Corsa or Richard Burns Rally and see if it feels different to Dirt Rally.

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  2 місяці тому

      I didn't encounter any oscillation on any game. It's just friction levels I have an issue with, rest everything is fine. I tried on multiple games including DR2.0, EA WRC, and RBR, friction remains an issue. Even after maxing it, the base remains snappy.

    For rally...adjust the Torque Acceleration Limit to 2.5Nm/ms in the settings. This made a big difference for rally with my Asetek wheelbase. Give it a try. I think you will be happy with the results.

      It’s still too high. Or perhaps I’m used to playing with filters? Still getting used to it. Thanks for the tip!

    The la prima bundle is fantastic , ive upgraded with the forte pedal upgrade and now you can fully customise the wheels (new grip designs , new colours to choose , new wheel rims round, d shape, u shape , ) i plan to upgrade the wheel at some point . I used to have all moza gear but that stuff just is not even in the same league for quality or reliabilty and Asetek support should you need it is probably the best going so if you managed to break the pins that everyone seems so concerned about ( i dont know how you manage this unless you are a ham fisted fool) you could get it fixed without issue .

      Yeah I saw that Asetek offers the pins on their website.

  • @wangte27

    The slew rate is attractive but that's not enough in my books to tip me over. Factor in the pins issue and the relatively higher price and the lack of supprted software games, it starts adding up against it and will impact the resale as well. And given it's more serious focus on competitive titles, it's lacking 360hz FFB support on iracing that Simagic and Simucube have. On that note, simagic is more affordable and has much better ecosystem and visually better looking wheels imo

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  4 місяці тому +2

      The pin design is concerning. I'm yet to see how it holds up. Simagic on the other hand, has pogo pins too but has never put a fear in my mind that I might accidentally damage them.
      Simagic can prove to be an appealing option when factoring in the consumer perspective.

    Have you thought about making a video regarding FFB settings for Simagic or Asetek with what you consider provides the most detail?
    I got an Alpha U a month ago after watching your reviews and many others and am curious on what you consider is best.

      Thanks! I did try their settings as well, it didn’t make too much of a difference compared to mine. The overall ffb is amazing, it’s just a bit snappy. But I’ve gotten used to its nature.

    Does the higher encoder resolution and theoretical higher level of detail was apparent to you compared to simagic?
    Would you be able to tell a difference in a blind test?
    The most convincing thing i have heard is that with this base you can use minimal filtering and not have problems like oscilations and weird vibrations,roboticness etc

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  4 місяці тому +2

      While on paper the 22 bit of resolution should outright demolish the 18 bit, but it isn't the case. Based on the settings I run, I felt more comfortable on Simagic (it could be bias, I'm not sure) and was faster, like I have shown in the video.
      And you are right, this base has minimal filters which takes away the digital feel. But I'd say based on the settings I play with, I preferred Simagic despite the very slight (maybe 5%) digital feel.
      In a blind test, I would be able to tell them apart, but that's because I have tested them both. The differences are in filtering. But again, I'm pitching it against the Alpha U, and not the mini.
      For an honest review, during my testing period of 20 something days, I spent almost no time with my Alpha U.

    the pin design is a major concern here. The pins can easily get damaged if wheel is placed wrongly or even a minor ignorance. Also, the pins being exposed, there is a question on their longitivity and the coating due to India being a humid country.

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  4 місяці тому +2

      Because of the design of the QR itself, it’s hard to ace the wheel incorrectly. It simply won’t latch on. But yes, I agree, I too have been careful with them.

      If you do one more than the other, try Alpha. Most of the Formula Drifters use Simagic gear.

      @@darthsnape do you think 15nm is enough so there's no clipping with grip racing? That's the sole reason why I wanted forte for the 18nm.

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  3 місяці тому +1

      @guccibangs9216 15 is more than enough for the majority of people. But unless you are planning on playing at 12+ Nm, I wouldn’t worry about it. Clipping won’t be an issue unless you are exceeding 13/14Nm. If your strength levels suggest that you can handle 12+Nm easily, then I would suggest that you look for Forte.

      Will the extra headroom provide any valuable info or immesion?
      Im sure the alpha is totally enough but it does not sound bad to have "infinite" torque

    • @darthsnape
      @darthsnape  4 місяці тому +1

      @@tkdmp5698 The "extra headroom" is highly useful as it provides all the dynamic forces. The dynamic range is often overlooked when picking a base due to lack of awareness or budget issues. I can tell you that playing at 10/12Nm in game and having the torque maxed out on base (23Nm) would allow all of the forces to peak as high as they can for better immersion. In my opinion, it's very important for me to feel every last frequency because of the missing G-forces.

      @guitartube5822 Both are excellent options whether be it hardware or software wise. And ridiculously close to each other once you dial in the settings. Although Asetek’s motor is really…really snappy. So I guess it comes down to which QR you like?
