  • Get a ride throughout whole Montenegro, from the Adriatic Sea to the galleries and tunnels in the mountainous part of the country.
Railway line Belgrade - Bar rises from the sea level to an altitude of 1032 m.
The lowest point of the railway line is 3m altitude and it is located in the Port of Bar. The railway then slowly climbs to the Sozina tunnel. The Sozina tunnel, 6171m long, is the longest tunnel on the Belgrade - Bar line. After passing through the mountain Rumija the railway line meanders through the valley of Lake Skadar. Until the city Podgorica railway line is located in the plain.
After the city of Podgorica the line becomes much more interesting. There is a canyon of the river Morača. The line runs through a multitude of tunnels and galleries, across many bridges and continuously climbs towards Kolasin.
To overcome the high altitude difference at a short distance, a serpentine was made in the canyon of Mala Rijeka river. On that part the line crossing over the highest railway bridge in Europe. Mala Rijeka bridge has a height of 200m from river to track.
On one part of the railway there is a tunnel Trebesica with a bridge built in it. During the digging of the tunnel mountain cleavages have encountered. This part of track had to be bridged.
After Trebesica tunnel there is a continental climate and a different flora and fauna. The line highest point is located in the tunnel, near Kolašin. After Kolašin the line descends towards Bijelo Polje.
The whole Belgrade - Bar railway line has 254 tunnels and 234 bridges. There are 102 tunnels and 96 bridges in Montenegro.
The most prominent infrastructure facilities in the Montenegrin part are:
    - Tunnel "Sozina" ( 6171m ),
    - Bridge "Tanki rt" ( 200m ),
    - Bridge "Mala Rijeka" ( 499m long, 200m height ),
    - Tunnel "Trebesica" ( 5172m ),
    - Tunnel "Ostrovica" ( 3827m ),
    - Tunnel "Šljivovica" ( 2194m ),
    - Bridge "Tara I" ( 270m long ),
    - Tunnel "Radigojno" ( 2370m ),
    - Bridge "Tara III" ( 340m long ),
    - Tunnel "Razvršje" ("Mojkovac") ( 3246m ) and
    - Bridge "Ljuboviđa" ("Slijepač most") ( 450m long ).

Watching from Bangalore, India. When I was 5 years old, my family traveled by a train to Coimbatore. At that time I had visualized a scene: "I was the loco engineer/pilot and was slowly moving the train after a short stop at a railway station. The time was evening and dark blue sky engulfed the environment. As the train slowly picked up her speed, I had witnessed few buildings were moving sideways with lights on."
Now I am 67 years old, and I could not make my way as a loco pilot. My dream was unfulfilled. From your cabin I had witnessed the same scenes 62 years later. By watching the video I became a loco pilot and now my dream is fulfilled. It is a wonder I got connected to your country through this video and there I perfectly fit as loco pilot! Thanks for this wonderful and marvelous video.

Extremely beautiful video for virtual travelers. For those that complain it's too long: you can always move pointer to different spot, but you'll miss all those beautiful places, tunnels, bridges, little stations. I traveled this route by train couple of decades ago, and a bit different one by car only days ago, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The advantage of this type of travel? You can pause it, go to the kitchen or bathroom and cheerfully move on, not a bit worse for wear. And you don't even have to take free days to do it! I especially love that every second of the trip is filmed, no pause or skipped time - so everything is here. Cheers, you did a great job!

This is one of the best films I have ever seen. The other day I put you tube on and by accident happen to come upon live train sites. I always wanted to sit in the engine and see what it was like since I was a boy. The scenes are gorgeous. The noise of the engine ,the speed, the tunnels, the views, seeing local people along the way. It is all very exciting. Last night I stayed up for four hours watching it. Can you imagine emailing people all over the world while watching this. God has created a beautiful world. What a way to see the world.I really appreciate all of the work of the people that built these railroads. How blessed to be alive to see this. I envy the people who drive these trains. ....The Crna Gora/ Montenegro version of the alpine Bernina line! Fascinating the sauvage roughness of the panoramas. I can only imagine how hard it has been to build such a line , far from roads, and, at the time, with old technologies : men power as usual..Big compliments for the Video-Trenord Luino

Thanks. During the construction of the railway, many workers gave their lives. Many people died and this was rarely mentioned and very rarely reported. During the exploitation of the railway there were major rail accidents... The railway line Belgrade - Bar passes through really beautiful areas and is very popular in this region, and beyond that, but it was extremely expensive and difficult to build and today to maintain.

That's beautiful! Only Can't believe I made it from Valjevo to Bar after an stressful overnight trip from Budapest to Belgrade. That's one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen! Too bad it was autumn there was not much light to see outside after 3/4 of the trip was completed.

      dulevoz-
good day, I want to thank you for this video and video from Postojna Cave, it reminded me of the time before 15-10 years when I ran your country from Žabljak and Durmitor to Kotor, or until Uljcina can tell the whole and found there lots beautiful places and some good friends.
We rode mainly by car, but one year we traveled from Subotice, right up to the Bar by the night-train train, with cars for carriage, this train only once a day and because of the darkness we have not seen from the mountains anymore to ask if the tunnel route in this video is the same as the train? Or is it built in part or all new? If this route is new, do not you know about someone who made the journey on that old route? I would love to look at it and remember the beautiful moments in Montenegro.
I apologize for my bad English, I'm using a google translator that is not perfect, but I hope you understand my words.
Once again, thanks for reviving my memories of several trips around your country.

I'm not dulevoz, but I still think I can answer that question. The night train from Subotica (rail.cc/en/night-train/bar-subotica-b1136/227) runs on this very route, it's the only rail connection to Serbia from Montenegro anyway. Route was inaugurated in 1976 and has not changed much since then.

What an incredibly breathtaking film! The first half hour or so are somewhat "traditional"--and then the mountains, tunnels, bridges, and gorges take over. There are only two other rail routes I have taken that even come close to this: on the California Zephyr route in the United States from Denver to West Park and the Garmisch to Innsbruck rim in the Tirol (Germany-Austria). the reverse run in the winter is equally breathtaking--though for other reasons. That video is also here on You Tube.

Wow, Incredible - such a smooth ride and what a well maintained track - not a bump anywhere! During the first tunnel, I watched in real time from when the light at the end of the tunnel first appears... it went on forever!!!!! - it must be quite nauseating for the driver to look at that light for all that time. Great video, youtube is so great for allowing people to view footage in full - broadcasters could never do this. Cheers
