Yeah. On the one hand, what she did with the chat bot is just a procedurally generated dating sim, or alternatively, she was reading and writing a lot of self-insert erotic fan fiction. But generally, these chat bots are just a video game simulating someone to talk to who is always available. People in the comments of the post got hung up on this being cheating, but it is clearly not real. It's a game. The problem is that she neglected her real life responsibilities to play the game, which you can just as easily (if not more easily) do with WOW, Duel Links, or any other grinding simulation. Any additional ick factor people has says more about how they feel about the kinds of video games women play versus men than it does about this woman in particular.

I have dabbled a bit into chat bots of the like and have lurked communities who are into it and what I've found out is that people are **too** into it. I read a whole thread of people seriously cheering up a guy who broke up with his 'ai chatbot girlfriend' and this was on a perfectly normal youtube vid about testing some ai. Think of it as obsessive/parasocial idol stans but made more accessible and portable(?) while being more immersive. And usually such circumstances can be worse than a mere addiction. In this scenario she clearly had formed some sort of unhealthy parasocial obsession with the chatbot. It's not cheating however but I'd advise getting serious help.
I appreciate the dedication to "play the ball where it lies" with these stories and give a perspective of the story at face value even if they think it's not true. Because whenever someone questions the veracity of the stories, it's always something that wouldn't actually crack the top 5 list of craziest shit I've personally seen happen.
