    The choice of watch band really transforns this watch into something above what you could expect at this price.

    Blue waffle BluShark silicon strap, Sapphire crystal mod. Looks mint, wears well, great every day watch.
    Applied indices on the blue, stamped on the black.

    Picked up a 107, (Fish free), for 80.00€ last week. Pepsi. Had a tricolor Red, White and Blue Nato turn up just Two days later. (22mm is the correct size). I’m really pleased with it. Can’t stand a ticking clock at nighttime, but this thing is SILENT, perfect. I’ve owned Subbies before, high level ones, but this is just as good as the real McCoy without the fear of smashing it up, getting nicked, mugged etc. It’s true, the original strap is poor, who cares, pick yourself up 7 different Natos and change it’s appearance daily, or plump for a half decent bracelet off Ali-X , mod it up. Have fun with it. Received loads of comments about it, they’ve no idea how reasonable the price is. Happy customer.

    Picked up a black new version today for $99 Australian. I like that the Marlin logo is gone from the dial but it did look good engraved on the back case. Great looking and functional watch but it does need a new band for sure.

    Great video. I've had a few, and they do take a beating as well as looking good. The only complaint in my experience is how easily the watch face scratches. Granted, it's a daily wear watch for me and I wear it in construction (stone masonry), hiking, camping, working on my motorbikes or cars, etc, so maybe not an issue for many. A great look and can't be beat for the price point!

    Hi Al. I wanted the black with gold bezel version which I got for 54 quid. I take your point about US prices compared what we pay, which seems to be the same number in pounds to what they pay in dollars, over any range of goods. Casio also give us, in the UK, limited choices in colourways on watches. The 20 quid black with white numbering resin diver, available from Argos you can get in any number of colours with the black, mostly from overseas, although Amazon have sold a few. Mine came with orange numbering (my choice) from Israel. And you're right, I too was disappointed by the size of it because it does look rather big. Now I need a shark mesh strap for it after seeing yours. I'm inspired. Thank you for an honest review.

      Thanks Mark. Getting these watches for £50 is v/good value but getting them in the US for even cheaper is amazing. If I lived in the US, I'd probably buy all 3 colours. I know what you mean about Casio limiting colour versions in certain regions. There's an Edifice in a particular colour I want but I can't find it anywhere in the UK so far. You probably know this already but re-sizing a shark mesh bracelet can be a pain, as you have to cut it. Most people use either a Dremel or side-snippers. All the best.

      @@TimeForAnotherWatch Hi again Al. I ordered the 22mm shark mesh for this from your affiliate link. No I didn't know about resizing them. I hope that I don't have to fit that using a Dremel. Last time I nearly took my eye out using one of those. Thinking of it, my steel and black Duro with the gold accents came from Israel too but I was struck with discrepancies in price and variation with the UK and elsewhere. Less choice and higher prices for us. The Edifice range also have variations in price sometimes according to colour. I've bought several Casios of varying ranges including Edifices from eBay from Jerusalem sellers. Delivery wasn't too slow either. Good luck with finding your Edifice grail.

      @Mark Grieves Thanks for using the link , that's really appreciated. There's a few videos on YT on how to re-size shark mesh. I'd wear safety goggles with either a Dremel or side snippers, just in case.

    For what it's worth the 106 version (with Marlin) is still fairly readily available new, even in Australia if you go to Amazon or Ebay. I also heard this one will continue to be available in the USA.
    Regarding the price difference, you may as well order from Amazon US stock and get international shipping over buying locally. I did and saved about $30AUD.

    I can't believe what they're charging for these very basic watches nowadays. I paid $CA50 for mine ~7-8 years ago, though mine dated to the days of the Miyota 2115, which retails at less than $3. The indices are definitely stamped, not applied. When mine fell apart I took it apart and was surprised at how simple its manufacture really is.

    • @TimeForAnotherWatch
      @TimeForAnotherWatch  2 роки тому +1

      Wow, 50 Canadian dollars was a real bargain for one of these watches IMO. Thanks for the info re the indices. I guess most of the cost on this watch revolves around the steel case, rated at 200m W/R. I've found that most quartz watches are surprisingly simple inside, the exceptions being the Seiko Mecha-Quartz units and some Swiss variants. Thanks for watching!

  • @iancurrie8844

    The logo on the original version is not a marlin. The marlin's dorsal fin is tall just above its head and then tapers down to nothing quickly. The logo has a dorsal fin which peaks much further down its body. It's clearly a sail fish. Don't take my word for it: just search "marlin vs sailfish" and see for yourself. Maybe they dropped the sailfish logo because they were tired of people calling it the wrong thing.

      Yes, I'm very happy with my Duro too. It's seems to be a common theme that the standard strap on budget watches is less than average quality, as most of the budget is spent on the watch itself.
