Casio's Duro diving watch, the MDV106, has been a fan favorite for a while now. It's a stylish diving watch with 200 meters of water resistance, and a unidirectional bezel, all sealed up in a nice looking stainless steel case with a screw down case back and crown. This month Casio released a reboot to this watch with the MDV106B featuring a beautiful sea-blue dial, and the gold trimmed MDV106G.
Both of these watches look fantastic and remain a super affordable way to get into classic diving watches. Let's take a look at the new blue variant and see how it holds up next to the original!

Pictures and Videos never really get across how nice this watch looks in real life. It is one of my favorite watches
A $0.15 band. I love it! The more money spent on the watch, rather than the ban, the better. We all (I think) want our own band so kudos to Casio for not wasting money on an unwanted band!
You can't let a term like "Quality for the money" take center stage for this watch. It nailed both well finished and dependable for whatever it's cost spread in retail.
My curiosity and first impression on the blue version had me supporting local full retail to begin enjoying it. It and a couple other variations of the MDV-106 will be wholeheartedly used and appreciated for years to come, and it's 44mm's size is still comfortable and proving to be a visibilty strength big time (with the lum kicking it up admirably across most lighting conditions.)
An easy watch to own and easier to appreciate.
What a great choice by Casio. The white instead of red for the second hand is a good change too. The Duro was already a great value diver, albeit super bare bones, adding color variants just HUGELY increases the versatility and value of the watch.
Love this watch. I have both the black and the blue.
This will probably be my next Casio.
Glad you mentioned it will look good on a leather strap as I'm wearing my gild version on a thick brown leather one :)
Its beautiful. I just wish they made a smaller version :(

Great channel, and great review of this Casio Diver. I like how you get right to the point, and give a good review of the watch. You just gained a sub!
Much appreciated!
One awesome piece from Casio great review bud!!
Thanks!
Nice video. Love the Casio MDV. Also, the MTD1053, basically s 40mm Duro.
I thought so I have 2 of them because I love them so much it was my watch when I was growing up in the eighties
I love it, total classic.
I bought a black and a blue that I modded. Low double dome sapphire Crystal (clear non AR on the black, and blue tint AR for the blue watch), hydro mod (oil filled) , and the James Bond nato strap for the black watch and a stainless steel band for the blue watch. I agree, great watch for the money. They look stellar.
Wow, nice mods man!
Thank you
Damn I thought Jody from Just One More Watch is the king of Casio, this channel is taking it to the whole new level
That's very kind of you. Thanks a ton!
Hellooo there
I have a Casio Duro Marlin MDV-106 (the one with the marlin logo) and it has been really strong on all terrains for the last 3 years. I'm still waiting for Casio to launch a new Casio Duro product in a smaller size (baby duro) with the 200 meter WR feature🤿🧜🏾♂️💦🌊
I own the original Casio MDV106B and is a beautiful and great watch. You get so much value for its affordable price. I'm thinking about getting the blue one but it would be interesting to see if Casio released a green (Hulk) version of it.
That would be awesome. Who knows, sometimes they surprise us!
I have the black and blue both. I have a dozen or so Nato straps. With both duros and that many natos, the possibilities are endless as to the color schemes I come up with! It is pure fun.
@Giorgi Kupatadze honestly I enjoy both of them and change them up from time to time. Both of them are great looking watches.
casio also made digital diver watches with the blue marlin logo in the 80s :) most beautiful watches ever made
I've got a few of those! Really awesome, classic watches.
@@WatchingCasio me too :)! 5 steel and 1 plastic marlin. you?
@@HajoBenzin1 one steel and two plastic :) Hope to show them on the channel soon.
This video I liked it a lot keep up the great work. WOW very interesting 1st class very kool great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great
Did not realize there are 2 additional variants to MDV 106. Really like the black and gold vatiant. Looks like my original MDV106 will welcome his "cousin" to our watch family 😎👍🏼😎
Nice :) yeah they just came out with the new colors. Looks sharp.
@@WatchingCasio just ordered the MDV106g variant through Amazon. Will order blue variant next to complete my MDV106 "three musketeers" line up.
😎👍🏼😎
I have 3 Duro's and would like it if Casio would come out with an orange face version. I have the blue, the batman and the gold, I'm actively looking for a silver/white face with the black marlin.
The fish logo is not a marlin. It's a sailfish. That doesn't matter...I love the watch. Good review!
What do you think about the Casio 360 databank you should do a review on it it's a nice watch
I should do that!
Give us the Kermit Duro!!!🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢
Please casio make a 41mm to 42mm version and with a Orange dial with Black bezel
Miyota 20 series movement :-D
Woot woot....I put it on a strapcode jubilee lol overkill i know but I love the blue...gonna put a sapphire glass on it for kicks.
That is awesome! Would love to see pics of that.
Hey, I've mowed through the fake ones, and I see one difference left before I purchase, the one I'm looking at is that where the hands meet the "centre pin" lol, idk the terms, but either way, im seein that instead of your one (black middles), these ones have like a silvery/light gray? Thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.
Oh man, not sure I can help you. I'm not good at spotting fakes and I've never really seen one in person.
@@WatchingCasio oh ok, thanks anyways 😄. I found a good one anyways, ✌
I’m waiting on the new batman. Already have both of these ones.
Is that a casio ts-1200 I see in the background?
Why, yes it is.
Do a video on it
@@traviswalker8933 I definitely will.
Is the black marlin a bit smaller?
Nope. Same size.
the size of the applied indexies is a huge negative for me. they should be bigger.
Very compelling timepiece for the price.
A great looking watch but I wish it was produced as a 39mm or 40mm size like the MTD 1053D diver watches.
Same here. Just a big too big for me.
MYD1053 is my favorite dove watch.
MTD-1063 is my favorite dive watch.
No mdv 106 in my region D:
Ah bummer. Give it some time probably.
I wonder why casio didnt consider this watch as an automatic movement it would be a beast
One can dream! Casio doesn't make any automatic watches unfortunately.
Automatic is inferior, they should go for solar instead. Hassle free, reliable, accurate, better in almost every way.
This watch is damn near perfect. Your gripes are petty
Petty or not, it's good to point them out. Still a beautiful watch!
@@WatchingCasio Yes.
Bom dia meu amigo. Gostaria sim. Como vc poderia me ajudar a realizar esse sonho. E obrigado pela atenção.
Not sure why but this watch is nearly impossible to be found in Brazil
Might take some time to get out to retailers. Seems to happen with every new release.
Tudo é difícil de achar no Brasil. O Estado brasileiro é mais socialista que a China. Sufoca o mercado.
I see people are selling them at rip off prices on eBay.
Welcome to Ebay :-/
i see em on amazon now for about 60$
Reboot? Need to reboot the Marlin digital..in stainless steel of course...
Agreed!
Why do people call that fish a marlin? It's not; it's a sailfish. Don't take my word for it - just search "marlin vs sailfish" to find out for yourself.
Dude if you paid 75 bucks for that watch you got ripped off big time. They go for 40 to 50 on Amazon and elsewhere online.
They were $75 right when they came out. Back down to earth now.
Right now, the watch is not interesting (for me). Adding a different dial color (purple, minty green, or other "unusual" color) might make me change my mind. But as for now, my veridict is... boooooring. (sorry to rain at your parade).
Ha no worries, I kind of agree.
Not another bloody submariner clone diver 🙄
