The key difference between the Casio Duro and a Rolex Submariner is that you will actually dive with the Duro and use it as the sport-adventure watch that it is meant to be. The Duro will also keep more accurate time than any mechanical watch and require no/far less servicing. 200m water resistance with a screw down crown and excellent bezel action. You can’t beat it for the price and it looks great.
@@nhonphan7704 I just found it at "$49.99" on Amazon and guess what? Between "handling", "shipping", and "import taxes" to Canada, it is now $97.00.... hahahaha double price! I will wait until I get to USA to buy it, but definitely will!
Teddy, thank you for keeping a toe in the affordable watch pool for those of us who are unable to purchase the higher end luxury watches you normally review. You are one of the best reviewers online, and I always respect the amount of research and detail you put into your reviews. The Duro to me is the perfect introductory watch for anybody considering a dive watch. There are homages with better specs out there but with the Duro you get the piece of mind and confidence purchasing from a reliable brand with history to back it up.
Got one about 5 years ago, immediately swapped out the OEM band for a NATO strap and it's been my go-to. Perfect fit for my 6.75" wrists. It's dived the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian without a hiccup. Even a bit beaten up now, it still receives a fair share of compliments. Grateful for a piece that's kept up and never been a cause for worry.
Wow, it's great to know that a diver has tested this amazing watch! I'd love to see how your casio marlin looks after all those adventures, you must have pictures for sure, do you have an Instagram profile? I'll follow you, or FB whatever
I just bought a blue one last week after seeing several positive reviews. It is a much nicer watch than I expected for the price. It is one of my favorite watches.
The Duro is a great watch and an amazing value. I know casio won’t change a thing because why would they; they’ve sold 600,000 units. But if they dropped this to 40mm case with 20mm lugs. Be still my heart, it’d be perfect. I have two of them, and the lug to lug is great and it technically does fit, but I still find myself thinking they’re a bit too big still. Another great video Teddy! Well done!
My picks for a 3 watch starter collection would be the blue casio duro, white timex weekender, and casio world timer. I think that is a phenomenal set for ~$100.
Yes, and they are strap monsters too. I own all three major variants, and so does my son. Swapped the cheap resin straps and they are near perfect. Tip: to avoid the issue of the second hand not hitting the markers, buy at a store rather than online and eyeball them. Some don’t align but others do. All three of mine are dead-on.
I actually bought mine in a store. I inspected it and the second hand was spot on. At home I noticed that the second hand was a bit off...I soon realised that it was hitting the marks perfectly on the left half of the dial, but was off on the right half. Of course, when buying the watch I didn't stare at the second hand for a whole minute waiting for it to make a full circle, so I missed that detail.
I've worn mine almost daily (when there's not a g shock on my wrist) since 2012. Back when it was $38. I run professional kitchens for a living, so this watch takes it all. I've only changed the battery once, many straps, many occasions. I get so many compliments on this watch.
I love mine, the daily beater that will last forever. I used it with a silicone orange strap and this week I moved it to a Jubilee style trap just to diversify, love it
I've been a diver since 1979 and this watch serves a great purpose. From Florida to Hawaii to Grand Cayman this watch has served me well. I didn't know until I saw this video that they made it in blue. I'm definitely going to buy that one!!
Thank you for commenting. I'm in Nepal and going to Thailand on a whim and doing some scuba. I can pick a duro up for about 10% less in Thailand than back home (Canada) and I was wondering if it would handle actual dives.
I picked 2 of these up at Walmart a couple years ago when they had them on sale for $10/ piece. It's definitely the best $10 I've ever spent! I also picked up an OEM Casio bracelet for one of them for about $20 and it looks stunning. The Duro is a great everyday watch for any collection.
I have had mine for 6 years. I only take it off to clean it and change the band. I get eyeballs on it all the time and complimented on it frequently. It is a perfect size and fit. I travel around the world and buying mechanical watch is impracticable for me. I got a new battery and crystal for $7.00 on the street in South East Asia. I never wanted something I couldn't replace if things went sideways on the street. Don't change a thing CASIO. I am exceptionally pleased with my ownership.
I've several Dive watches: a Seiko Turtle, a Citizen Pro-Master, an Amphibia, G-Shock, etc...and, a recently purchased a Casio Duro for a beater/Work grab and go watch. For years, I disregarded the Duro in spite of the large following and positive reviews. I admit I just felt it had to be over-exagerated and there was no possible way a $50 Casio Duro could be a good watch...afterall, I was burned on an Invicta pro diver (was dead within 3 months) when I first got into this infectious hobby so I thought "no way can this Duro" be good. I was wrong. I gave in and finally purchased one. It has been a very good watch. It's actually good looking, very reliable, easy to read, and fits my 7.25" wrist well. Admittedly, the rubber strap sucks (IMO). And, true, the lume is quite lame and the finishing is certainly not up to luxury watch levels. It's pretty utilitarian in most every aspect, but I've been very happy with it. I replaced it with a good leather strap and Wow! What a transformation! In any event, I'm definitly recommending this $50 dive watch-especially for those on a very limited budget, and for those who don't want to beat up their more expensive divers. In retrospect, this is the best $50 in hourology I've ever spent. Just goes to show how one's preconceptions can be wrong...
I have the blue Duro and I'm telling you... that blue Duro on a good leather strap is as good looking as some of the $2K watches that are popular. Really, look at the macro shots; many $2K watches can't stand up to that scrutiny and look as good as the Duro. Places for improvement... Teddy is spot on in pointing out the lackluster lume and yes, we would all love to see a 41 or 40 mm version.
I own 3. I love them. The beater aspect makes them unbeatable. I wear them to work. I wear them in the pool. I wear them to play tennis. I wear them on the lake. And I do these things proudly and without worry. They look amazing, and because of the case finishing, people mistake them for a Rolex all the time. I do put aftermarket straps and bracelets on them. It’s fun to change it up. Could not be happier with my Duro collection.
2 years later and I'm looking at this watch priced at $49. And that's right after a large inflationary period for pretty much all products. Definitely grabbing one for a work watch. Being a contractor my work watches have to straddle the line between looking decent in front of clients, but also not being an actual loss when potentially smashed , broken, lost or smeared in thin-set or drywall mud. Thanks for covering this watch. I'm sure the vid will be helpful for years to come.
Bought this watch for myself this Christmas after continually seeing it billed as the best value in the watch world. Spent an additional $50 for a sapphire crystal and stainless steel bracelet. Far and away my best watch in terms of technical specifications and it only cost me ~ $100. My only concern was the 44mm case diameter, but the curved lugs make it wear way smaller than you would think.
Spent 38$ on my black duro about 3 years ago now and it's still going strong, a couple scratches here and there but it's still quite sharp looking. I swapped the rubber strap for a black and gray nato and it looks perfect and wears extremely comfortably. My next in my collection will be the blue version with a nice navy blue nato
My first watch that got me into the hobby . It amazes me how much quality goes into every Casio watch, from the f91, to the Duro, to various G-shocks and Edifice chronographs. I'm wearing mine right now on a 22mm NATO and it's an elegant daily. I plan to upgrade it to a double dome sapphire, but it is a watch that works so well as a daily and for the price- is unbeatable. (My second watch was a solar GWM5610 Gshock, and third was an Orient Kamasu.) Casio and Orient definitely make such amazing watches for the price bracket.
I love my Duros. I have one in each colourway and have changed the straps. The black is on a tan, leather strap. The blue is on a Jubilee, dive style bracelet, and the black-gilt is on a beads of rice. There are sapphire crystals available, as well as alternative hand sets and bezel inserts. They're a fun, easy to own and modify watch. Mine are worn when on my moto, mowing the lawn, and working on the car. Cheap, reliable and tough enough for a daily beater. Brilliant watches.
I own the black faced Duro and it's unbeatable for it's value. The clean design and legibility is second to none. Being a tad big also helps. The sun burst dial oozes charm when it catches the sunlight at the right angles. For $60, nothing comes close. This piece is in the same league as the original Casio 5600 G-Shock. A keeper for a true watch enthusiast, at a very affordable price point.
I dove into buying one when I heard a couple positive reviews for a diver-beater watch and then I saw that they had a Batman coloration; I AM IN. Fully intended to be my daily work watch (carpentry) but I can’t believe how pretty it is and how much I love the dang thing so bought the blue version when I saw it Walmart for $40 and I can say for sure that my more expensive watches are getting jealous of the time that these Duro’s spend on my wrist.
Spot on Teddy. I don't own a Duro, but after reading a few reviews online I bought the black dial verison off Amazon for like $44, sight unseen, as a Christmas gift for my brother - who is not a watch guy. A few months later when I back home for a visit I saw he was wearing the watch, he quite liked it. And I was blown away by the quality of the thing, it really is impressive for the money.
Finally, Teddy! :) For some reason, Duro is on my wrist for years, despite having some Seikos and Orients. Somehow, I always go back to this one. Cracked the glass this summer and replaced it with sapphire crystal - now I love it even more, as it had some scratches before. My piece saw some diving, spending time on the beach, site works, and is still going strong! Also, I've been checking accuracy using smartphone app, and it's remarkable, unlike any other watch I have - this one runs on avarage ... +0.0s/d. Yeap, after over a year, it's off about 3 seconds. Unbeliveble! I've tried many straps and always go back to original. One thing that is totally not e.g. Seiko or Orient level, is as you've mentioned, lume. It's rather mediocre. Personally, I would love it to be around 41-42 mm case size, too. Other than all that, this watch kinda ruined watch collecting for me - 80% of the time I'm rocking the Duro. Just love this watch. P.S. Give a try to EFV-100, too. Especially in white. Similarily impressive value. Cheers and keep up the good work with your channel!
EFV-100D is an amazing watch for the money, indeed. I have the black and white versions and can't decide which one I like more. Wear mine on french parachute straps and they look and wear quite good. 100m WR, screwdown crown and back, nice finishing. Lume is basically nonexistent, but I don't care. Thinking about getting a Duro as my first dive watch, although I am not a diver. I'm mostly interested in field watches.
Bought the blue one for several friends and family, they all love it! They actually prefer it over far more expensive pieces, as long as its on a mesh or bracelet.
@@PandaSketch42 AliExpress has some exceptionally high quality bands for around $10. They come with quick release springbars and are far better quality than the ones Ive bought on Amazon or on various other stores. They become flexbile quickly
Recently got into watches (properly) and desperately wanted something that looked great, would get me used to the size of anything more than a 91W, function really well, be durable and allow me to bide my time (and save) for another starter/low-mid tier. Mine hits the spot! I also don't bat an eye recommending to others that like the idea of a good looking watch but even would consider £50 too much. Awesome watch
I have an affinity for Casio watches and really like the Duro in particular. I have the blue one and changed the band to a blue and white striped nato. Runner up in Casio line for me is the Illuminator. Amazing value.
I have the black version and I added an aftermarket strap and this watch looks and runs like a much more expensive watch! By far the best dive watch for the price! Bezel turns smoothly, turning with a slightly stiff positive click with no play back. It is at the top of my favorite watches!
For anyone on the fence about these Duros: GET ONE. I've had my first Duro for maybe 4 years, the black dial version, and it's been damn near imprinted on my wrist since I bought it. When the gold and blue versions came out, I bought those as well, and they're also great watches! When I use other more expensive divers, I'm always worried I'll damage them in some way, but when I use my Duros I feel I'm wearing G-Shocks 😂 They've got scuffs, sure, but they're reliable. I never knew about the green bezel and blue/red bezel versions until this video and you bet I just ordered them! Great buys! 8/10, maybe 9/10 for me! Great video, Teddy.
Unfortunately they are not available in Europe. My black/gold version had to be imported from Las Vegas via ebay which raised the total price incl. taxes to nearly 72 Euro. Still love it. It is my daily driver. Working, swimming, cooking etc. I wanted to replace the strap at the beginning, did not immediately find one that I liked and therefore kept the Original. And now I am used to it. It is durable and I have no issues with the fit or my skin. I don't produce a lot of sweat as with a leather strap and it wears very well.
I own both a Duro and an Amphibia. The Duro is hands down the better option. I have the blue dial and absolutely love it. My one complaint, which Teddy touched on, is the second hand doesn't hit every marker. Mine hits the mark on the left half of the dial (6-12) but misses on the right side (12-6). Still, perfect option for the pool, the beach, kayaking, etc.
I bought a blue marlin at Walmart. Walmart. And it gets so many compliments! I absolutely love this watch. This piece is staying in my collection for sure. So much value.
I have one. I am not a dive watch afficiado. aI do kind of collect Casios though that were never my intention, it just kind of happened. I finally about a year or so ago got around to the Duro. When mine arrived from Amazon I was just blown away. I mean to me a regular guy it was a frigging Rolex. I mean I was super impressed with the quality and pictures just never did the thing justice. it really is just a stunning watch to me. I call it my Casio Submariner. I think your review was spot on and your a guy who knows about the relevance of different brands and price points much better than me. It is all the diver I will ever need as the closest thing to diving I will get is a dive into a seedy bar.
I noticed this at the store a few weeks ago, the blue version, and had to have it. It looks great and the second hand lines up nearly perfectly with the second markers. I got an inexpensive black leather strap for it and love the combination. The rubber strap will go back on if I actually take it in the water. It's amazing to think this watch is 1/20th the cost of my current every day watch, and 1/50th the cost of the watch I have my eye on next, yet I'm still proud to wear it and show it off. God tier!
I have a duro that is at least 4 years old and has gone on several scuba dives with me, one was down to 108 feet. I also use it during free diving which is really hard on watches because you are going deep (60-70 feet for me) then right back to the surface over and over. It's easily one of my favorite watches.
I bought one of these watches about a year ago and I absolutely love it, ok it's not a Tudor, or Rolex but I think the finishing on it is fantastic for the money, I did however change the strap for a better quality one which has made it look an even more expensive watch. I have friends who I admit are not watch fanatics, but when I asked how much they thought it cost? And I got a price range from £150 - £350 I would say that tells you how good it is.
I work in the marine industry and dive. Have two of them. They are the best, tough as nails, look good and most of all one can afford to loose one, ie working underwater, wrist snagging, strap\ pin bust. Both on silicon straps. So accurate to within seconds a year that thay can be used as nav. chronometers
Bought my sons one of these each as well as a base Seiko. Watches that are simple and inexpensive and wear well. They will last till they are self-sufficient and can choose differently.
I just got three colors of the Duro for $11 each and a few other $60 Casio watches for $8 each and just picked up the Invicta pro diver automatic for $41 on clearance at Walmart spent like $100 for six watches
Another point, is that, like the Seiko SKX, it has become a watch collectors like to mod. There are sapphire crystals, bezel inserts, and bracelet options galore. Easily one of the best valued watches period. I love my Kermit.
I love my Duro , I have the 'Marlin-less' ( MDV-107 ) version which in my opinion makes it look even better although I wished it still had the Marlin on the case back. It's a great watch and the best $99 AUD I have ever spent. I changed the strap to a comfortable silicon red and black strap as well.
Hi, just got one for Christmas, paid $39.00 on Amazon. I love this watch! I have a skinny wrist, but as you point out, it wears like a 42 and looks fine. I don't want to risk my Tudor at the beach, so this beater is a safe bet. I appreciate the review!
I have these two Duros. The second hands hit the markers. Actually I like the fact that Casio puts on a two bob strap. It means your money has gone into the watch, rather than the strap. I have plonked on a couple of nylon straps - a Bond strap for the black version, and a blue and white strap for the blue version. I have a GS and a Presage but still wear these often.
My first Duro lasted about 8 years before it just died. I think I paid under $40 for it at the time after wearing out a Casio MTD-1010 Submariner prior. In the last 2 years I have bought another black, blue (Bluro), and gilt. Replaced the stock straps with Tropic straps except the gilt with a brown leather croc. I now have a basic 4 watch rotation. Black and Blue Duro’s for everyday and SKX and Ray II Blue when I want to wear bracelets. That’s 4 really good divers for about $600 total!
The Duro was my first diver style watch , from there i got addicted and started with Seiko SKX and the prospex line & the Citizen Promaster line. The Duro will always have time on my wrist.
I have two. I'm hard on watches so I installed sapphire crystal on both. Replaced the factory strap w/ NATO and they look awesome. Cheap, dependable, and I don't have to worry about scratching the glass.
I've had mine 8 years. It's my beater/work watch. Some scratches, 2 batteries later; it took a licking and keeps on ticking (sorry). 😞 Highly recommend it. 😊👍
Just picked up the blue and black versions at Walmart today, they were on sale for $11 each. Thank for this review! It definitely lead me to getting this watch.
I own 2 of every version of this watch. Looking forward to getting the new colorways. As a collector with over 700 watches, in all price ranges, I honestly feel this watch is the best value Quartz watch on the market.Put one on a NATO strap and you are set! Nice review Teddy!
It's fantastic seeing reviews for very much affordable watches! Not everyone can or wants to spend thousands of dollars on top end watches and not everyone is after an automatic. Quartz watches are cheaper to make and upkeep, while also avoiding any issues around accuracy or magnetism or whatnot. I've got a few nicer watches like GS, Tudor and Oris, but I've also got the Marlin in blue :D
I got mine second hand guess it's around at least for 5 years on different wrists, the price was the key point for me and it never let me down. You will most likely scratch it some day but you will not regret it, it´s still working fine, it will not break and will tell you the time and date as accurate as you need...for years! When you have the chance to get one - GET ONE!
I've had a black one for a couple of years and it's great. Whilst I agree it wears smaller than you expect a 44mm to, I still find it a bit too big, so don't wear it too often. Like many I think should Casio bring out a 40 or 42mm version it would fly out the door!
Thank you for this Duro appreciation haha. I recently got back into watches - just got tired of wearing a smart watch all the time. My old G-Shock was the only thing functioning out of my collection. First watch I bought was the blue duro and I got the black one for Christmas. I replaced the band with a nato strap before even putting it on haha. A green kanno on a gray and black nato is my next watch. I don't know if you can tell, but I kinda have a type haha (dive/nato).
I own a Casio Duro for 6 months now and I love it. I think it’s a very cool watch for the price. I own 3 other watches that cost more (Tissot PRX, Seiko Presage, Bulova Chronograph), but I wear the Casio Duro almost all of the time.
I recall owning one of these in the late 90's , however that one had a metal strap. I am not sure if this is still offered by Casio or not. It too a beating like no other: I used to be a party animal during those years, and also I would take it to the beach regularly. After its first battery change I took it to the beach once more, but unfortunately the gasket was worn off and was not replaced ( I realized this just after the fact) so water leaked in and ruined it. RIP to my beloved Duro, it was a present from my mother.
I put a black and grey Blushark nato strap on my black duro and it looks and wears great. I also have the blue one with a nato strap on it. Fantastic everyday watch and second hands on mine hit the markers centered. Treat yourself to one of these.
Literally never take mine off, other than to swap between rubber strap on site all week and mesh for the weekend. The Hamilton Khaki, 10x the price, doesn't get out of its box. Fantastic Watch.
I had a spare Amazon gift card with no idea what to buy. Got my Batman Duro for $3.60 after gift card. I was super skeptical having worn nothing above 44mm LTL. I figured if it wouldn’t fit I could pass it off to my brother who is known for wearing big divers. Duro finally arrived and I feel in love immediately and it fit som much better than I ever could’ve expected. Duro is part of my core 2 watch collection along with my orient bambino v7. The Duro makes me wonder why I ever bought any other watch and Casio always makes me wonder why I ever go with any other brand
Great watch, i love mine. Rumour is that the rights to the Marlin Logo have lapsed and new ones will lack this attractive dial detail. As a 7 inch wrist I can wear 34 to 44 but I think a 40 would sell like hot cakes. Also as a qualified divemaster I can tell you these are worn by scuba guys.
I will always go with the budget watches that do the exact same thing as the overpriced ones. The duro is a perfect watch for just about anything whether you’re under water or out on the town. I like the fact that most these “micro brands” (Casio is not a micro brand) are giving all these mega brands a run for their money.
I have 4 MDV-106s watches and I think they are a tremendous value. I own 7 MDVs in total and they are worn in a rotation that gives them exposure to all sorts of activities. They look good, wear well and serve their function as a time piece as expected.
I have several dive watches in my collection, but I’ve always been reluctant to wear them in the water, due to their value. So I purchased an inexpensive Duro (black), to wear during summer beach days. It’s has been a great watch for the past two summers, with no concerns to date.
Owned this watch for 4 years. It's lone weakness is the crystal. Aside from that, it's my watch for painting, swimming, working around the house and even sometimes to work. It's versatile, has amazing finishing and is accurate. Great watch.
I have a Duro on my wrist because of this video of Teddy's. Really enjoying it. Was checking out the Vostok Amphibia, but I don't think I'll be sending any money Russia's way any time soon.
I got the black dial version at the beginning of the month and it has overachieved all my expectations. I will be updating the strap to either a NATO version or a 3 link oyster style bracelet.
I got lucky and snatched up an Orient Ray 2 in blue, for just $80US on ebay. Otherwise I would have gotten the blue Duro as my entry level dive watch. It's just tremendous value!
For the money you'd pay, just get both! I love my Orient, but try to keep it nice. The Casio is my go-to for surfing, hiking etc - I know it can handle the abuse.
My blue dial Duro is finished better than other watches I own that cost 6 times the price of the Casio. The second hand hits all the markers. It looks and wears great on either a Barton Elite strap or a Bond NATO. Crazy value for so little $.
This is my daily work watch, to rip off Timex, it takes a licking, and you know the rest. It excels in tough work environments, looks great on a NATO strap, and you can buy tempered glass screen protectors for it.
For a 60 quid watch 200 WR screwdown crown 120 click bezel this is why its the holy grail in budget divers....i have a few n love them...Nice to see you appreciating the low end spectrum of super budget Gems Teddy... great review...
Thanks Teddy, for dedicating a whole video to this iconic masterpiece. I have all six colourways of the magnificent Duro even if (sadly) the later 107 variants are no longer able to sport the fantastic marlin logo. They are the jewels of my affordable Casio collection and I wear each with pride; but if I did have to (agonisingly) pick a favourite it would probably be the blue (until tomorrow)🤩👍
Is your(?) reply genuine and not a scam? I'm asking because there's been quite a few lately. If not, I'm not entirely sure how to access the WhatsApp thing as I've never used it. Cheers 👍
My first "grown-up" watch was a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium, which is a beautiful entry level watch, but at $820+tax, I'm not taking that on most vacations, let alone into the water. I know it's not much for a watch, but as someone who grew up in a poorer country, it's still a lot for me, even now that I can afford way more expensive stuff. Buying it a year into my first "real" job felt great. I still wanted something that I could take on a vacation to a faraway country without fear of it being stolen or use to tell the time while swimming. I was torn between the Vostok Amfibia and the Casio Duro, but a few horror stories scared me away from the Amfibia (though I'm still set on buying one if I ever travel to Russia, which is a lifelong dream of mine). The Casio Duro, however, is a real marvel... I could not believe you could even buy a decent dive watch for that little. Mine should be arriving in the mail soon, hopefully I can use it in some tropical beach this summer without having to worry about the cost.
A great alternative for those of us that live in Europe is the EDF-130D, also from Casio, though it's only 100m WR the bezel has no play and the finishing is more precise in my opinion, with only 42mm case and with the smaller 38mm dial it wears smaller for those of us with small and average wrists. I got mine at around 50$ on sale and I'm very impressed by it. I would only change the bezel edge to be more like a coin edge and I don't mind the digital-ish font on it.
Totally agree with your view here. I have the regular all black version and have owned it for about four years. It was used even then, and it's been great! I'm still on its original battery from my ownership anyway! I have just purchased the all blue version on Amazon for £50 free shipping to me here in the UK from a US seller ,so well pleased! Being a Casio fan and having mainly G shocks I've not got any issues owning these marlins ! I have paid a lot more for divers that don't compare with these mdv 106 for value and even quality considering the mass production side of things? One other point is that this Casio Japan movement is I've found extremely accurate in use with only a second or two a month gain? That to me is astonishing considering the price point! This watch is a classic for a reason and I totally recommend it.
Great to see you review the Duro Teddy. Really show's your passion and interest in all watches regardless of price. Love the Duro - and totally agree .
got mine recently, and happy to say that my second hand is hitting the mark consistently. one complain is the bezel is too hard to rotate, my fingers really starts to hurt after fidgeting for a bit, but overall, loving it.
Wearing my Duro as I watch this. I'm traveling and don't want to bring an Omegas or even a Seiko. The Duro executes flawlessly for what it is. I'll pick up a blue dial and a Pepsi. Get rid of the terribad rubber band and use a thousand different NATO straps to make its wearability off the scale. Great content, Teddy!
I just got mine yesterday. After wearing a fitbit for a bit, I started to want an actual watch I could wear when I go out. I like how it looks and I'm good with how it sits on my wrist
OK, I am late to the party, but just purchased a Duro. This does wear smaller than 44mm. Comfortable on my 7.1" wrist. Finish is fine for $50. as Teddy said, the ultimate beater. I believe this will be in my everyday rotation.
I have the blue one and I love it for all the reasons Teddy discusses. I put it on a blue sailcloth strap and it’s my summer go-to. My OP and Speedy get jealous. Best watch value since the Seiko 5.
The key difference between the Casio Duro and a Rolex Submariner is that you will actually dive with the Duro and use it as the sport-adventure watch that it is meant to be. That's actually... a really good point.
Well said. I do that I have 4 Duro.

@@oshoc01 Yeah, buying it in store is a better deal. The watch is good but not for $100. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $40. 😀

I bought the blue one too. Good looking quality watch ⌚ 😎 .
Blue makes me question the other two. Like, why would anyone even want one of those?
Is it big?
@@theocy1986 44 mm
The Duro is a great watch and an amazing value. I know casio won’t change a thing because why would they; they’ve sold 600,000 units. But if they dropped this to 40mm case with 20mm lugs. Be still my heart, it’d be perfect. I have two of them, and the lug to lug is great and it technically does fit, but I still find myself thinking they’re a bit too big still. Another great video Teddy! Well done!
It wears smaller than 44mm, it's like 42mm
I also have this watch, and my opinion is exactly the same: sometimes it feels too big. I'd love to see the same design in a smaller case.
Yes once you get over the numbers, it's a great fitting watch.
It's strange that they don't make a smaller one.
It already is perfect. What are you talking about? Maybe they can make a petite size for little children and you can wear that one.
My picks for a 3 watch starter collection would be the blue casio duro, white timex weekender, and casio world timer. I think that is a phenomenal set for ~$100.
I might go for the cheapest G-Shock square over the world timer, but I totally see where you are coming from.
World Timer is a heck of a deal
That's a solid recommendation. Totally agree.
Casio Royale, F91W, Duro and Edifice EF110D. Yours are great choices. Yes a G shock would be good. That puts me to five.
Right on the money!
Been looking at a similar starter collection.
Casio Duro, Timex Easy Reader, Casio W218-H.
Will start with the Duro next week.
Do they become unaligned when battery is dead?
@@evgen5647 good question. I don’t know; all of mine are still running on the original batteries. I guess I will find out eventually.
Mine is right on
Agreed! I put mine (black) on a thick shark mesh bracelet with a milled double security clasp. PERFECT
I used it with a silicone orange strap and this week I moved it to a Jubilee style trap just to diversify, love it
Great adventure watch or daily beater like you say. Would look gold on an orange strap 🍊
looking for a good Jubilee, where did you get yours? and does it have solid end links?
also heard it can take skx bracelets...
I've been a diver since 1979 and this watch serves a great purpose. From Florida to Hawaii to Grand Cayman this watch has served me well. I didn't know until I saw this video that they made it in blue. I'm definitely going to buy that one!!
Casio also makes the MDW in gold.
Thank you for commenting. I'm in Nepal and going to Thailand on a whim and doing some scuba. I can pick a duro up for about 10% less in Thailand than back home (Canada) and I was wondering if it would handle actual dives.
@@tysongoesoutside Yes for sure!!
@@tysongoesoutside And I bought the blue one as well!! ✌️😎🤙
@@mtumblin I'm thinking blue or black depending on what I can find in bkk.
Where did you find the bracelet?
I’ve been wearing one for around 6 months. It’s amazing. It’s my first diver and I would recommend it to anyone considering getting into divers.
You mentioned aftermarket straps; is the duro a 20 or 22 mm? Thanks!
This, a thousand times this! I wear mine the exact same, and you've given me an idea for my blue one 😏
My everyday watch right now. Looks AMAZING with a striped 22mm nato strap.
Exactly the same here!
3 of my favorite casio's in my collection that I am happy to wear every day
1)Casio Duro
2) Gshock mudman G9000
3) Casio F91W
Have you looked into buying a Casio?
@@miscellaneousz2681 I never thought about it. I saw the watches and I had to buy it. I wear all of them on alternate days.
Where did you find a mesh band for it?
@@PandaSketch42 AliExpress has some exceptionally high quality bands for around $10. They come with quick release springbars and are far better quality than the ones Ive bought on Amazon or on various other stores. They become flexbile quickly
Literally bought mine 2 weeks ago and now I get a Teddy Baldassarre review to go with it?!?!? Perfect!
I just bought one. This watch is fun to wear. Great every day watch. I have 6.75 in wrist and it fits very confortable!
I love my Casio Duro. Just got one for my father in blue.
Very reliable watch. Keeps the time better than most mechanical watches.
Love it!
God tier!
God tier
God tier indeed!
This great! Fair reviews for everything from Casio to Rolex and everything in between. Something anyone can appreciate!!
I can't believe it! I went to Walmart tonight and they had one on clearance for $11. Of course I bought it.
Incredible watch, incredible accuracy....A watch that over delivers in quality, something that is rare in today's commerce....
Highly recommend it. 😊👍
Agree agree agree. I love Casio as a brand. One of the best value for the money (in some cases even the best)
Just picked up the blue and black versions at Walmart today, they were on sale for $11 each. Thank for this review! It definitely lead me to getting this watch.
I love my Duro! So much so I added the blue one and the gilt one to my collection as well.
It’s crazy how much better your videos have gotten over just 2 years
Did several dives in the Philippines with one of these. It lasted about 15 years, paid about $40.
what exactly got finally and definitely broken in it after all those years? really curious
Best watch i’ve EVER owned. Stuck a 22mm engineer on it, it looks AMAZING. I’ve owned a Rolly and an Omega, the duro takes top spot.
I own 2 of every version of this watch. Looking forward to getting the new colorways. As a collector with over 700 watches, in all price ranges, I honestly feel this watch is the best value Quartz watch on the market.Put one on a NATO strap and you are set! Nice review Teddy!
Ive been getting into watches for the last month and this seems like the definitive choice that’s great in all areas
Just got one after watching this review. For the price paid, $55, I'm impressed. My second hand is spot on to the markers.
Just picked one up brand new for 11$ best money I've spent in a long time definitely worth it
I will always go with the budget watches that do the exact same thing as the overpriced ones.
Average Rolex owner. Wear your watches, if you just want to stare at them print a poster or go chuff an AD.
The duro seems to be a must have watch is the any other budget must have watches that even someone on a big budget would like to have
Owned this watch for 4 years.
I'm actually weighing this as an option for a cheap, reliable beater. But I'm still leaning towards an Orient.
I got the orient ray as my first mechanical diver, worth the little bit extra. There’s something magical about an automatic watch
Cheers 👍
@@mordeth1964 I believe it's a scam, he last video was targeted by scammers!
Muito bom esse relógio! Tenho às três cores: azul, dourado e esse preto. Gosto demais! Uso toda dia!
This is what I Love About Teddy watch reviews at 60$ to 600000$ Excellent keep up the great content…….👍
I love my Duro. It fits perfectly on my wrist and it’s easy to read, thinking of buying the blue one soon.
