Oh my god someone actually reviewed this game in 2021? This is like... My favorite/first western game. I'll admit it didn't age to well but it's still neat imo. Edit: i also never had this much trouble with the game as you did. I was like 8 when I played this (little underage I know) and I did the bridge section just fine. Then again I wasn't using a shotgun aka a spread based firing weapon near a bunch of volatile explosive barrels and running off the bridge at any given moment lol
I loved this game back in its day. Tried to replay it on the hardest difficulty and I think I got about as far as the mission where you escort the howitzer to the outskirts of empire city and it was just impossible so I gave in.
When you completed it, you got McGruders armoured horse that couldn't die as a reward. And for some reason it couldn't die from sprinting either. If you abandon it at any point, you get a message saying it's returned to the mine where you first get it. Pretty handy. Except with nothing left to do at that point, I got bored and tested how invincible the horse was. Turns out, if you use the cavalry sword, it can be meleed to death. Abandoning the corpse still respawns it at the mine, but it's still dead. So there's just an eternal dead armoured horse just laying there
ngl, if people knew how to do an full 100% HD remake of this, and keep the game play exactly the same, just get rid of the mission complete screens Id love it

It's crazy seeing this game so many years later! Remember I played it all the time as a kid, loved the stealth mission in particular. It's weird how I remembered everything looking so much better than it actually does lmao
I played this game for the first time relatively recently, and liked it. I think what determines whether you like it or not is if you're willing to cooperate with the game. If you spend your time trying to push and break the game and make it look as dumb as possible, then yeah, the game is going to be awkward and stupid. If you just go along with it though then it's a relatively smooth ride, save the few janky sections that naturally come with games of this era. And fun fact, Hoodoo is played by Ron Pearlman.
I ALWAYS push games. If the game just breaks, that's no fun. I like playing games that let me push them because then I know that the developers made a real game and not just "an experience" where you HAVE to do it as the devs intended.
Honestly loved this game, I know when compared to other games of it’s time, fu#king awful. However I still played the hell out of it, and truly enjoyed everything it had to offer. There weren’t a lot of Wild West games out so I do believe that helps it’s appeal.
