I played this on PS2 back in 2005 ish when I found myself living at my grandma's house whilst I was broke and inbetween jobs. The voice acting, the story telling and the world building, albeit on a limited physics engine for its time made this game so great. Even though this game did some aspects better than some Red Dead stuff, going back to play it really feels like taking a trip back in time, it has aged pretty poorly in a lot of the non-story elements. But it was a great experience for the time. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago already.
This was definitely the first "Red Dead" type game back in the day that was super underrated but super lit. Only few of us on the block had it and it was niche crowd of us that spoke about it time to time
@@What7else Only knew about GUN so that's news to me. Point is, This was the first western game to have that kind of niche hype around it..I don't remember RDR. Just GUN.

Amazing! Very interesting video. I've heard of this game, but never realized how good it was for its time. I think the influence on RDR series cant be underestimated here. I even got a sense of similar toned-down, dry attitude from the protagonist that we seen in Arthur Morgan. Definitely worth appreciating, pity I missed it in its day
Absolutely loved playing Gun. Yes, just about every part of the story is taken from other movies, but in my opinion it makes it like a "Western's greatest hits movie" that you can actually play. I finished it a few times. I was disappointed by Call Of Juarez. In a world without Red Dead, this is the best Western game ever.
I started playing gun in 2012. amazing game. amazing soundtrack. memorable characters, drama. It had it all. so many hidden dialogues and secrets (listen to the enemies on the prison break mission) And just like gta, conterversy followed. Some indian group chased after guns producers because "native americans are not positivly represented" even though most of the main segments of the game involved them. I really want to see the day when GUN 2 Comes out. you know there was love involved with this project, and I want more.
Are you talking about when you’re hiding behind a bush listening to the guys around the fire? You just sparked that memory in me. That was a part that I loved as I had never encountered anything like that in a game until then.

When proving ground had the poster and I didn’t really know that never soft wasn’t really making games anymore I had high hopes that it would eventually be made. Wonderful video! This games super underrated. I’ll die on this hill.
Gun was awesome, I bought this game dirt cheap at Game Stop and had never heard of it so went in with no expectations. I loved it. A remake or remaster would give RDR2 a run for its money.
The fact christopher lennertz made the soundtrack makes soooo much sense now. Everytime i hear the european assault theme, i want to cry. But gun’s soundtrack sounds so goooood too
I hope a remaster of this game will come out and come out on the newer consoles switch, x box, and playstation i love this game ..Gun..was a great western game

The night and dusk missions were the best, the sky coloring was so authentic.
Omg the memories, oh wow. I forgot how much this game influenced me.
The soundtracks took me back 20 years in time. Brought back major memories i forgot
I love this game! Gun OST is beautiful. One of the best PS2 games ever!
Thanks for such a great retrospective! It was great to take a walk down memory lane with this gem of a game, which I played on the PC. Well done and you have a new subscriber!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Certified masterpiece, amazing soundtrack.
this is a fantastic video. tons of detail and effort put into this
Thank you! Really proud of this one.
Even though this game did some aspects better than some Red Dead stuff, going back to play it really feels like taking a trip back in time, it has aged pretty poorly in a lot of the non-story elements. But it was a great experience for the time. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago already.
I remember this game. I really enjoyed it. Glad someone made a video about it.
This was definitely the first "Red Dead" type game back in the day that was super underrated but super lit. Only few of us on the block had it and it was niche crowd of us that spoke about it time to time
This actually came out after red dead revolver
@@What7else Only knew about GUN so that's news to me. Point is, This was the first western game to have that kind of niche hype around it..I don't remember RDR. Just GUN.
True! But revolver had more of a spaghetti western feel and wasn't open world. GUN plays much closer to the more recent RDR games.
@@GameTalesHQ true. That's another thing I noticed when I did my search
Good memories. Nice cast and soundtrack. Brad Dourif is awesome as the preacher [our forever loved Chucky].
Gun is one of the only games that my dad would ever play with me. He always thought they were a waste of time, but he liked gun. Istantly goated for me.
😂😂😂
Amazing! Very interesting video. I've heard of this game, but never realized how good it was for its time. I think the influence on RDR series cant be underestimated here. I even got a sense of similar toned-down, dry attitude from the protagonist that we seen in Arthur Morgan. Definitely worth appreciating, pity I missed it in its day
This and Mafia 1 are two of my all time favorites. Wish I could play them both again for the first time.
Hell yeah! Mafia 1 is awesome as well!
This was the one!!!
God bless you bro!!!
Your the man G!
Taking me waaaaayyyyyy back 😢
Good video! And cool to add some video footage of the development of the game. Keep up the good work!
I started playing gun in 2012. amazing game. amazing soundtrack. memorable characters, drama. It had it all. so many hidden dialogues and secrets (listen to the enemies on the prison break mission)
And just like gta, conterversy followed.
To this day, I don’t know why I love GUN as much as I do. Played it a lot as a kid, probably shouldn’t have. When proving ground had the poster and I didn’t really know that never soft wasn’t really making games anymore I had high hopes that it would eventually be made.
Wonderful video! This games super underrated. I’ll die on this hill.
Thank you!
I played western games back in the 80s. hehe
WOW. This is most is most definitely what RDR used as their outline for the game. It looks extremely similar.
RDR was released a year before GUN.... RDR was a far better game too.
First game I played on the 360 back in 05
I played this game on the GameCube finished it also on the psp the psp version comes with extra missions and longer story mode
I still have this for PS2 and Steam.
My parents bought me gun when It came out as a birthday gift when I turned 17. I played through it several times. It’s brilliant.
One of the best games off all time GUN ❤
Loved this high production quality game.
It was worth finishing again on the psp.
A Phenomenal experience to have had in this gaming life.
I don’t comment much on videos, but you did a fantastic job. I was expecting 500k plus subs.
I looked forward to watching the channel grow.
Hell yeah! Thanks for the complement!
this was one of my most replayed games.... i loved this game when i was a kid
We need more of these western themed videogames. Open world or otherwise.
Loved this game when it came out. Great video man
God I love this game so much.
Great video dude! 🤟🏻🙏🏻
Man, Gun was so influential on me and my friends that quotes from the game have just formed part of our dialect.
But gun’s soundtrack sounds so goooood too
European Assault's theme song is so good eh!? Goosebumbs every.single.time.
@@GameTalesHQ every single time!
I hope a remaster of this game will come out and come out on the newer consoles switch, x box, and playstation i love this game
..Gun..was a great western game
Plenty of kudos to GameTalesHQ for putting together such a compelling, well documented retrospective. More people need to acknowledge GUN as well as other illustrious Old West games that helped minting the gold standard the Red Dead series is known for.
Loved that Eric bischoffs likeness was used. Great game!!!
Now that I think about it, I was more open to trying random games as a kid even with less money. Im glad this was one of those random games I decided to grab one day.
Great work. UA-cam needs to push your videos. Well done
You're helping me out by commenting! Much appreciated.
This is such an underrated game! I loved this one and would love to see it get a sequel or reboot.
I rented this game when it first came out and loved it. Good memories
Still own this game. I loved it as a kid. I wish they would remaster and potentially remake it and add a bunch of new content. Amazing game but i wish there was more.
Great review! I was obsessed with Gun and Red Dead Revolver as a kid. I loved the little imperfections that made them unique. I feel like games today are too polished, which washes away their charm
Too polished?? You're lucky to have a half-working game at release nowadays. Glorified tech demos at beta testing status...
