Some people are missing the point in this video... I KNEW before buying it that the Pro does not come with a disc drive, but with 95% of my PS4/PS5 collection digital is not an issue - BUT I did not realise I had several games on disc I had kind of forgotten about that I wouldn't mind playing on the Pro to see what the Game Boost does with them (amongst other things) 🙂
@honestrob yeah I could Overstrand the situation ,I mean, if you don't mind getting it on digital, then cool .but for me, I won't need the disc drive. I have so many digital games. If anything I'll need is 2tb more.
i was also hesitant about the disc drive thing, until i saw the add-on disc drive it's actually pretty good, i had no idea how slick it is, it connects right in... so at first i was turned off by the myth, but as long as they make an add-on available, it's ok. For me it's worth it, because i freaking waited since the PS4PRO to buy my PS5 so damn right i'm buying the PRO, can't wait! :D
The plug and play disc drive DOES have a positive side... if the system is built well, the most likely component that will break down over time is the disc drive... so being able to so easily swap it many years from now will be nice... hopefully Sony makes a lot of the drives... If the PS5Pro plays PS4 games as well as it advertises it might be a long term console once PS4 becomes retro
The ps5 slim disc drive amd side covers can be swapped onto the ps5 pro, so if anyone bought the pro and are planning in trading in their ps5 slim, wait until you get your pro, put the disc drive and ps5 slim disc drive cover on the pro, and put the cover from the pro onto your slim to trade it in.

I went ahead and got a disc drive when it was announce, because I figured they would sell out, or get scalped. Got it for $69 with a deal I had at the time. As someone who sells their games when I'm done, a disc drive is a must, and the savings from games will eventually overcome the extra cost of the system anyway.

I see the disk drive for sale a lot of places. Its 79 dollars here. Pretty cheap for a ultra blue ray player. I bought one from Walmart a few days ago.
I got my PS5 day one. I have only purchased one physical game Miles Morales. I took the disk out because of the spinning and hated getting up to put it back in! I later decided to get that game on digital for a cheaper price. I used the drive occasionally to watch an old sitcom I had on DVD, not even Blu-ray so I don't use the drive.
I only have one physical disc for PS5 too, Devil May Cry 5 which was bought on day one if I remember correctly. And interesting to see someone the same as me on that disc spinning up thing! SO irritating haha!!!
I mostly buy physical but i have to admit. I game share my brothers digital library and it been a big advantage for me because i don't have to buy games day 1 but i can play them cause he buys them.
4 years have past, so you would expect technology to be better. The same way every 2 years new gpu's come out that are the same price as the previous generation (maybe a little more because of inflation). If you are correct with your inflation figure then I would expect the PS5 Pro to be around £580 with a disk drive. I would also expect the 4 year old base PS5 to go down in price. Pretty sure that is what happened with the PS4 pro.
@@honestrob It may not be a direct comparison. But if the PS5 base released today for £580ish (including inflation) you also have to take in to account that it would be a fair bit more powerful than the base PS5 due to the 4 year gap. I still feel like the PS5 Pro is at least £100 too expensive for what it is. Or to put it another way I feel like Sony have removed the disk drive, but not actually passed any saving to the consumer.
You have 3 gaming setups, an OLED 2.1 HDMI, projector and kick ass sound system. Why the heck are you complaining about buying a disc drive. Lots of people can't afford any of that disc drive is the least of their concerns. Why not just play your digital ones it won't be OOS forever. Or if you really won't spend the money buy a used disc drive in January off marketplace for $50.
The reason I have several gaming set-ups, OLED 2.1 TV, projector etc is because I don't waste money. When was I complaining about buying a disc drive? I noted I would need one to play certain games in my physical PS4 collection and the complaint was even if I wanted a disc drive they are super hard to find in the UK - so I bought the digital versions of the games I want to play on Pro that I have on PS4 disc too, which is far cheaper than a disc drive I will never use after I have played those few disc games. Do you see? 🙂
All you Fanboys better start supporting Microsoft/xbox because when there's only one show in town. Guess what? They dictate the prices without no competitors were fucked, so get to buying some Xboxes instead of all these crappy ass. Playstation titles because if you don't support them Sony's going to dominate and they're going to be selling consoles for $ $2,000, they're already pandering to scalpers. Oh they just played it off by stopping the anniversary pro Pre-Orders cuz they already sold out to the Bear Jew scalper... now they can set the price at a considerable profit and no longer lose money, because scalpers are going to set the price. So have fun trying to get a ps6 let alone a PS5 pro. They're going to release small batches and let Aldo Raine buy them. So whatever the price is the scalpers are going to pay and charge us double. I have no other way to say it. That's basically what's happening from here on in. It doesn't matter if you buy it or not. It's going to be SOLID OUT.
🎉🎉 congrats on thinking 🤔 before you buy so many Sony ponies just buy anything Sony puts out with no thought which is why they make you pay to play online with friends have many tiers of PlayStation member programs force you to buy a stand to hold the console correctly gave you a portal PlayStation that only streams and didn't add a disk drive on a oro version of their console 😮😮 sony knows its audience wil pony up even when it makes zero sense to the consumer 😅😅
$826.78 was the total in US dollars including tax for the PS5 Pro & Disc Drive. This will be my 3rd PS5 alongside the original & slim. I'm completely happy with my PS5 Pro purchase.
Imagine not watching the video properly and failing to realise I said I would probably have bought one when I searched - but instead decided to buy the digital versions of the games I would have used the drive for... 😀
problem is even with ps5 pro its not 100% that games gonna be 60 fps compared to pc you know 100% its gonna be the case even when your gpu is outdated you can always go low graphics and still hit 60
Not if you have several consoles in different places around the house (fighting games for example I will have on my downstairs arcade cab which will have my old PS5 in it when the Pro arrives. Means I can have those games on the Pro too without the need for swapping the disc around all the time). Plus I hate the noise from the disc drive too, but that's just me 🙂
C'mon man. I don't believe for 1 second that you only just thought of this. Be honest, you just wanted a reason to make another video as you were never really considering cancelling your Pro pre-order. I bought an external drive way back in August, as I knew I would need one when I got my Pro. I'm pretty sure you must have thought the same, so please stop these click bait videos.
The video happened as said but you are free to believe whatever you like. I could have easily made a 'Is THIS The Reason To Cancel Your PS5 Pro?' vid or similar on essentially the same thought. There is no need to 'make anything up' 🙂
Rob did you 'honestly' pre-order the PS5 Pro and not realise it did not come with a disc drive. Then cancelled it because it didn't have a disc drive. I'd rather pay extra for the drive, than have it included in the £699 price with the graphics power reduced accordingly. You can buy the optional disc drive. You can't buy an optional graphics power upgrade. If you only have a few old games on disc, just buy the digital versions cheap. It will be cheaper than buying a disc drive and no more inserting the disc hassle. I was disappointed it did not have a disc drive, not because the optional drive was extra expense, but because I didn't want to battle scalpers to get one. Wait until you purchase the 8TB SSD.
I mostly buy physical but i have to admit. I game share my brothers digital library and it been a big advantage for me because i don't have to buy games day 1 but i can play them cause he buys them.
Yep, good you get a lot out of it! 🙂
In Australia its $1200
Yikes! Tech stuff is notoriously expensive in Australia for some reason if I remember right?
@@honestrob in Australia we pay high taxes. And also it doesn’t come with a disk drive which will cost on top of that $150.
It is, but the PS4 even at launch was ancient in PC terms - the PS5 was cutting edge so it's a totally different situation I think.
I pounce on ordering the disc drive for pro same day announcement found out digital default. It Sold out at Best Buy literally same day.
I just got the disc drive at Best Buy and stand smh. Gonna pre order the pro tomorrow at GameStop.
Yea cool! Good times ahead! Just a few weeks to go now! 😀
Trading my og ps5 is giving me 50% of the Pro price, so just makes sense to me to upgrade
Sounds like a great deal, epic times ahead!
I LOVE DIGITAL EVERYTHING DIGITAL IN MY HOUSE 🤣
😀
Do you see? 🙂
I Refuse to cancel my order 🤣🤣🤣🤑🤑
Me too! Looking forward to it!
It's going to be SOLID OUT.
comedy gold
i cancelled mine
Yep, a lot to look forward too 🙂
Imagine spending 700$ on a console and crying about spending an extra 80$ for a disc drive
Imagine not watching the video properly and failing to realise I said I would probably have bought one when I searched - but instead decided to buy the digital versions of the games I would have used the drive for... 😀
Imagine not being able to watch a video properly...
🍻👍🏻
How in the hell would you NOT know that the PS5 doesn’t come with the disc drive. It’s exactly like the PS5 Slim!!!!!!! You buy the add on.
Where is the part I said I did not know it came without a disc drive?
Someone didn't watch or listen to the video properly lol!!! HE KNOWS lol!!!!
problem is even with ps5 pro its not 100% that games gonna be 60 fps compared to pc you know 100% its gonna be the case even when your gpu is outdated you can always go low graphics and still hit 60
Problem is with the Pro it upsets the PC fanboys too much lmao!! Insecure to the MAX!
Physical disc are the only way to play. Digital sucks
There is no need to 'make anything up' 🙂
GAMEBOOST is the same Scam word as Teraflops
It hasn't even been seen yet so you matey boy are just yet another, internet TROLL!
Cancel it
I'm sure he will now because YOU said lmao!!
If you were smart, you would have bought the disc drive before pre-ordering the PS5 Pro to make sure you got it. The disc drive was sold out in all the major retailers but was easily available at Game.co.uk or Very.co.uk etc. If they do sell out, they will be back in stock before the PS5 Pro releases. You did not try hard enough.
I'll copy and paste this to save time: I don't think you listened to the video properly. I am very much aware the Pro came without a disc drive, and said I THOUGHT about buying the disc drive then realised after searching and failing to find any in stock (at the time) I didn't need it as after checking, there are only a handful of games I care about playing that I have on disc - so bought the digital versions as explained in the vid. And I didn't cancel the Pro at all as I said at the end! If you are going to criticise at least be accurate with what you want to say. Cheers! 🙂 I even Pinned a Comment at the top days ago as other people skipped/didn't listen properly either!
You clearly did not watch properly as he DID buy the games on digital lol!!! He knew that it had no drive, just considered it after he saw he had a bunch of games he wanted to play he owns on disc, but after the drive was hard to find decided to replace the disc games with digital which was cheaper than the disc drive which he would then never use after those games were played
