I've been watching your videos for a while now, ans my Xbox one finally died a month ago after 10 years of service. I've done some research and found that hard drive issue can cause no start on a Xbox. I've seen you take apart a ton of thrm so i gave it a try, replaced the hard drive and sure enough it works now, ready for 10 more years 😂. These videos gave me confidence that I can tackle this problem.
@@GsrItalia I love videos like that. Thats how I learned to repair my phones, instead of buying new ones every time they break. I recently replaced a battery connector on a phone motherboard. Now it works again. 😊
You're been a huge inspiration to me, and I've learned some things I've used to repair various things of mine over the years. I'm attempting to start a repair business, but I've given myself a strict starting budget of $150. I'm starting with 1 original GameBoy that I picked up off eBay for $30 (No power, missing screen lens, possible damaged display, lightly corroded terminals). I figured it would be a good starting point since refurbished GameBoys sell for around $120-150 on eBay, and even if I need to replace all the components inside I'll still mostly break even and be able to try again. I already have all the tools I need from past repairs and projects, so the only cost will be replacement parts. Maybe one day I'll have a career like you, or maybe I'll stay small and keep it as a side hustle. I hope that in a year or so I can come back here and say how far I've come. Thanks for being such a huge inspiration
Best of luck! Shopgoodwill has pretty cheap "for parts" consoles, though they don't tell you what's wrong but I've seen some really cheap Xbox's and PS3s and PS4s if you could win the bid cheap, it might be worth it.
Always really appreciate the authenticity and honesty of you leaving in your mistakes in videos, especially silly things like forgetting certain screws before a reassembly. So easy to do, we have all done it st least once, or will do. It definitely helps any budding repairers out there to not get disheartened if they end up making similar slip ups!
A small tip I have for soldering super annoying parts like that connector, get a place for your elbow to rest. It could be a box, it could be some fancy comfortable sling type of thing, could even be a stack of books. At the end of the day, if your elbow is held steady, it's significantly easier to make tiny movements with components. I know, you have a hot air station, and yes you are probably quite used to doing the way you do as you have done for years. But it's just something I found really helpful and thought I'd share. :P
@@defrost62 Yes same, I have an essential tremor. What i have found to help a bit is hand and wrist excercises when possible on days your are not soldering and taking breaks when the shaking worsens after long soldering sessions rather than powering through to try get the project finished
I love your videos. There are such great entertainment. The way you talk and explain wot your doing is really awesome. I came across your channel about 6months ago and I've lost count on how many of your videos I've binged watched...haha
I recently cleaned mine, and thankfully, I didn't rip the sticker, all I did was take the back plate off to blow it out and put it back together. I did just recently take my xbox one x apart mainly to harvest the ssd I put in it and place its original hard drive back in it. That top shell for the one x is annoying to get back on but I finally got it.
I appreciate you, including the part where you made a simple mistake of not including some screws, had to disassemble again. Makes me, as an amateur repair hobbyist feel much better!
Good to see you're doing well l learn so much from watching your videos to help me out with my channel with you all the best and hope you have a great Christmas and new year 😀
Great work! But I believe you put the clamp the wrong way around. The plastic pieces in the center of the clamp need to be up and down, you put them left and right.... By doing so, those plastic parts are putting a lot of pressure on some small SMDs there.
Great job brother. I've been watching your channel for some time. I'm a repair guy myself. I've learned a lot from your channel. Keep up with the Lord's work! 😉👍
UA-cam just recommended this video when I decided to open my PS4 controller to get the ribbon cable to test it on my brother's PS4 controller. I just ripped the cable. Now I have two controllers to repair 😅(at least my brother's one is still playable. Only the LED seems to have died and is not rumbling anymore, hmmm). Also, I'm not a sub, but from time to time I watch one or another video from you, and it's super good to see you are doing well now :) Best wishes and happy holidays o/
i saw comments on other videos asking why people don't clean their consoles often. this is why. the average person doesn't have the expertise or experience to properly clean their consoles.
FYI, for removing old (or even semi-fresh) thermal paste around a CPU/GPU die, I usually use a soft or medium bristle toothbrush with a little isopropyl alcohol. Works great & less chance of breaking or scratching any components 👍

Hey Steve. I'm looking to get into console repairs and wondered what you would recommend for practicing on? Is there an easier console to cut your teeth on? Love the videos too and very informative. Nick
Hey so I have been a fan of your channel for a while and I have gotten into soldering my old game consoles and I was wondering what soldering iron you use. My one has a really blunt tip which makes it hard to work on small electronics
So glad you you got better mate thank you for not giving up I lost my partner 2 years ago the same thing do me a favour though get a fume extractor because flux is poisonous poisonous
Instead of using a pick for that old thermal paste, use a soft bristle brush soaked in isopropyl. I’ve never knocked anything off a board by softly brushing.
it seems to have been opened before....Check for any extra chips soldered to the bottoms of the board, because you may have been sent a miner-( Electronic device modified and put into circulation to harvest and send data to 3rd party usually piggy backs off phone signals...)

I think worst case, they shorted some connection to the psu by heating it or accidentally pulling a wire, or at best, they simply forget to reconnect something. Hopefully the chip didnt overheat.. Im only a 1st year engineering student& not too familiar with series x console.
