This isn't even a console problem, the gaming industry as a whole has lost its course, it became too big for its own good and went full corpo. Look a the amount of flops and remasters/remakes, there's no creativity left. Even the recent successful titles are leeching on brand recognition and old franchises.
@@k.23_02 Nintendo is the greediest of them all, they have been rahashing their franchises for more than 20 years now and selling old titles and shovelware for the price of gold. Their hardware is also completely obsolete yet they still sell the switch at full price. Their fanbase are either kids and casuals or fanboys way to high on nostalgia to know any better. Their success is a case worthy of study.
@@k.23_02 Nintendo is the worst one by far. They have been doing Mario and Zelda games for 50 years now. It's worse than CoD at this point. If these IPs weren't so popular, consumers and critics wouldn't be afraid to pass up on it like they do to other 3D platformers or strategy games, it's literally just brand recognition at this point. Unfortunately, Sony wants to go down this route too because they saw Nintendo making big bucks that's why they're forcing Horizon, the Last of Us and God of War so much when the Playstation consoles in the past used to offer the most variety and creativity within first party studios (PS1, PS2 and PS3).
The switch isn’t current gen. Why do people like saying this? If you want to compare it to PS and Xbox why not add sales of PS4/Xbox one consoles since 2017. Nintendo fans are so disingenuous
@@om58499 you saying the switch is irrelevant because it's not as powerful is disingenuous. I never even said it's current gen? Even tho it is a console, being sold in stores , that people are still developing games for, which has a huge install base. Also yeah, compare it to last gen if you want, still sold more than the PS4, which is the one that "won" that last gen.
I think the most obvious explanation that nobody wants to come to terms with is the fact that very few people have money and can afford the same luxuries they used to be able to.
no. That isnt the problem. Game purchases are going strong, Just not on consoles. mainly because most of the games that have reciently come out first party by both Sony and Microsoft, Suck.
@ Having $50 to spend on a game is evidently very different from having the cheddar to buy a brand new console that’s not even that much better than the one you have.
True even tho the new gen consoles are cheaper than ever before the economy is terrible right now and a lot of people simply can´t afford these types of hardware.
Thats a very true phenomenon thats only compounded buy the fact of if you can save 1000$ for a ps5, you can probably hold out for a pc that can be upgraded as time matches on
I’d say consoles forgot where they stand on the totem pole. When you provide either no exclusives, or exclusives that mostly are very similar (emphasis on mostly, PS has started to up their game a bit), and start thinking that people will pay PC prices for a console that’s just much more limited, you get the 9th gen. Remember, console’s market niche is a cheap alternative to PC gaming, once you forget that you get people who will just get a PC thats better and upgrade able for a few hundred bucks more.
Gen 10 is where we're really going to see things go to part. From a computational standpoint, the investment in processing power is giving diminishing returns. Look at the PS5 Pro, and look at where AMD is in the computing space. RDNA 4 will be more about increasing the market size cheaply than in making strides in performance. Investors want the line to go up, so pressure increases to generate revenue from hardware sales in conjunction with software sales. The 360/PS3 brought at least a 3x performance increase, then Xbone was a sad joke, PS4 provided around double to triple but at a huge architectural pivot, then PS5 was roughly double a PS4 Pro. Diminishing returns, except they're going to charge much more for it. I think you're spot on with this and I'm gonna call it, Gen 10 will be the most underwhelming hardware generation in the whole history of major platform releases (discounting the Sega 32X addon, as that wasn't a full generational leap, didn't count, and yes, I'm predicting that the next gen will be worse than the Atari Jaguar, and that hunk of shit sucked ass).
@@oldsk00l And with games like Monster Hunter Wilds raising the ante with being really hardware intensive except on the top of the line hardware like the 4070-90 or top amd processors, we are soon reaching a limit to what consoles can perform. Either studios will benchmark for consoles and keep the status quo, or they will keep making photorealistic nightmare games that can only be played by the top 20% of gamers with high end PCs. Or nvidia gets off their high horse and stops making $2k graphics cards... which is highly unlikely.
I haven't bothered with a PS5. Happy with my PS4 and atleast i can play my games in the future unlike the current and future gen games being digital and online only that will have no value at all and once they turn the servers off forcing you to buy new games at a price dictated by the likes of sony .
Studios went from small passionate teams to giant corporations. Indies are doing well these days. The gaming industry is an industry for passion not corporate greed.
Actually that's not true at all. There is really no change in the mix of big and small game studios. What's changed is propaganda making people want bad games.
rockstar the only studio that puts care in their game. you can't even blame them for capitalizing heavy on gtao because that was the perfect cash flow.
I make fun of nintendo then p-*-*- their games because they are a s*** company that hates its fans and fan projects I loved and k***** them but makes good games and I don't give my money to them. This is not just a way to justify it I don't need such thing this is exclusive for s*** companies in my book If I love a game and studio seems nice bam I buy it later.
If anything, Xbox vs Playstation *is the last console war.* Nintendo has been doing their own thing with their own library of franchises since the DS and Wii spun money. Playstation's win is *completely pyrrhic,* since they're winning while *nobody cares about consoles anymore.* Nintendo's focused on media (outside of videogames) and merchandising, Xbox is revolving around GamePass and that massively mocked "This is an Xbox" campaign. Sony? They're the only console maker left caring about gaming because *every other avenue (barring movies) has been burnt down,* never mind the _decade of reliance on ESG coming back to haunt them._
@@Dededvine I mean, it depends on what you want to play. I spent ~$1000, 4 years ago and am still holding up fine. That said, most of the games I play came out in the 2010s. I have no plans of upgrading. Some people get by on less, because they're into less intensive games. Many "map simulator" strategy games or "retro" RPGs can be run on a potato. Others require more because they like to play the largest games with the craziest graphics and physics. If you're looking for a PC, work backwards. 4K games got too expensive to make and take too much time to do so. With previous generations, innovation in technology expedited the videogame making process for higher quality games, but with 4K we are still using the engines we used to make HD games. This almost doubled the workflow. The only way that we will get back to the golden age is to once again find this innovation, and hopefully find an engine with prebuilt assets and/or templates for assets to save time and money.
This is also why I think we need to dial it back on the AAA games for a while. If there wasn't room in the industry for smaller games, we wouldn't have so many indie developers today. Unfortunately, so many developers have only listened to the loudest voices in the room

I couldn’t agree more on the games are what sells the console. Back in the early 2000s to 2010s it seemed to be some kind of new game every month…..now games are taking years and years to come out mediocre and forgotten.
I still have my issues of PlayStation Magazine issues 61 and 62 from 2002 and when flipping through those pages, they promoted SO many games it was crazy. No wonder the PS2 library has over 4,000 games.
It’s actually incredible that all Nintendo needed to do is put games on a console. Most of those games are good some even great but all they needed to do was make games and release them. All this on a 10 year old tablet and it’s now what the 3rd bestselling console of all time and counting???
It also helps that the console is a freaking indie machine. Like whenever I’m low on 60$ i could just buy indie games on my switch and it feels right at home with it. Like indie games go on sale alot on this system and usually tend to go onto steam then switch then other consoles.
I think the biggest key to their success is that they have kept all of their IPs incredibly valuable. The example that the video used was “why doesn’t Naughty Dog make another Jak and Daxter game?” The answer? Because who would care. Sony has let that IP completely atrophy in the public consciousness. Nintendo keeps people interested in Mario games, Zelda games, even Kirby games.

It's good to see the PS5 Pro not doing well compared to the base PS5 when it launched during the covid pandemic. Scalpers are even having a hard time selling the PS5 Pro, due to people realizing that it's not worth it to pay $1,000 for essentially e-waste.
@@chubbz5873 the Ps4 pro and Xbox one X didn't do nearly as good as the base models either nor it was expected for them to do so. It's performing well within expectations.

You can improve the graphics all you want, but if the game sucks, it doesn't matter. The only people that will be buying the PRO Versions are the console collectors or hardcore fanatics who have tons of money to waste, and there's only a few of them. Exactly. There's almost no reason to get a Pro when you can do everything a Pro can do on a base PS5. There's fuck all insensitive to upgrade. You're still getting the same games on both consoles, and the Pro will become just as obsolete as the base PS5 when the PS6 drops. There's also a minimal difference in graphics at most. If you really want an upgrade in graphics, at that point you're better off buying a PC.
@@SKOTxFREE Doubtful. GTA 6 is still going to drop for the base PS5, which is far cheaper and actually comes with a stand and disk drive. Besides, almost everyone who wants a PS5 has one by now. Nintendo is the only one who’s still pumping out good quality exclusives from a majority of their franchises. Sony and Microsoft have been focusing too hard on making the most expensive and beautiful looking games as opposed to consistently making good games. If we're being fair, you should compare the first half of the PS4 generation to the first half of the PS5 era. Every PS4 game you mentioned, except for Until Dawn & Bloodborne, came out in the second half of the generation. The first half was full of forgettable titles like Knack, Killzone Shadow Fall, and The Order: 1886. All the heavy hitters came later.
Xbox losing the 8th generation was the worst generation to lose. Most people bought a PS4 and built a Digital Library that they can bring to future Sony consoles.
a dumb argument parroted straight from the same guy running xbox into the ground. Nobody cared in any previous generation about abandoning their previous library of games to move on to the next gen. That's why they stopped putting backwards compatibility in newer versions of consoles as generations went on. the reason xbox has been losing since the 8th gen is because they killed all their main exclusives like Halo and Gears of War. If they made a good Halo and made it xbox console exclusive people would buy consoles to play it.
I'm so grateful that I grew up during the golden age of gaming. I experienced the launch of 8-bit systems and have followed the evolution of gaming all the way to the current consoles. It's upsetting to witness the decline of console gaming.
One thing that really pisses me off is the fact no one really acknowledges how lack luster this generations Uis are. Like you can only count 3 slight UI changes from ps4 to ps5 or Xbox one to the series x. It just doesn’t feel as grand as like the Ps2 to the PS3 or the Xbox to the Xbox 360. Even if they didn’t add anything, a simple UI change that shows a stark contrast from the last generation shows “damn this is new and fresh” don’t understand this mentality of like “well we don’t wanna risk it so let’s not try something new.” I really only bring it up cuz something as simple as that would literally make the competition a lot less appealing
Because UI isn't important compare to games unless is a nightmare. Also UIs shouldn't actually change much unless what you had was bad. Many software do this same annoying mistake, they just change things up to have something to sell you. Is like EA sport games were they remove features to bring them back the next year and play them as great new features etc. The whole purpose of a UI is to be something that is easy and intuitive and nice looking. If you manage to get that then don't ruin it. If anything PS5 should have made even less changes from PS4 UI because the one they did weren't even improvements in terms of working with the UI.
I know this is gonna he seen as coping, but I actually liked that the UI didn’t change from Xbox One to Series X. I was able to just plug it in and knew where everything was. The transition was very very fluid.
Ui changes nowadays tend to be absolutely horrible. Sometimes even getting worse just for the sake of "changing something". Windows has this problem as well

I find it ironic when people complain that the new consoles have no exclusives to sell them, but when they actually DO exclusives people (especially pc people) backtrack and claim it's anti consumerist
Because it is ? A console should sell because it's cheap has physical media and gets good performance for it's price if the only thing driving you to buy some shitty hardware with mid ass software is 2 games then you're kind of a dumbass .Consoles in this generation are no longer plug and play physical media is almost gone and the price for the performance isnt worth it anymore since with the same price you can build a PC that has either the same or just better performance. The only consoles that should exist are handhelds like the switch the steam deck and the ally
8:02 In defense of Xbox, the head of Double Fine did say that Microsoft buying them gave them the resources to add more bosses and overall make the game better. But even then, it was multiplatform, so you don't need an xbox to play it
Also to be fair Xbox has a lot of good games it even has RPGs and Strategy games- Starfield, Age of Mythology, Stalker 2, Indy Jones, Forza, Flight Sim
It's the fact that console not being an entry level gaming device anymore matter the most. To today's market console is a dedicated gaming device which needs considerable justification for purchase. When their trashy or even worse non existing games are not as entertaining as those casual mobile games you know its already game over.

Biggest problem is that they are not making new games, only remaking old games. Next issue is that we have no real football or sport games because these companies think a football game is a card game. They put zero effort into two player modes for people in the same room, too much effort in crappy online play. These companies are more concerned with adding gambling mechanisms than gameplay. The phrase “game as a service” is a major problem. Vast majority of gamers are not craving a new service to buy.
Yeah, That's more a problem with the internet. Sim racing games these days are pretty much once per generation showcases and that result is... the racing fans are happy in their (very large) corner talking with each other about cars and the games themselves. They don't need to flood "mainstream" social media with cool cars, they are happy amongst each other. just because it's not trending every day on twitter doesn't mean millions of people aren't buying entire consoles (and a lot of other specialized accessories. @IrrationalCharm i know it's not the actual reason and it isn't that big of a deal, companies just peaked and they know they can't make good games anymore that's why they remake and remaster older games because they were successful
It's ironic because, with all these videos, none have looked at the other side. If you are an investor, it is being sold as this very quick, easy, and cheap way not only to make money but to manipulate customers and influence them to buy your other products. You could, for example, make a game all about rainbow llamas, then sell all types of random llama toys off the hype. It's more complicated than that, but the idea is to create such a market where you do not only sell but control it, determining what people like and buy. The game itself does not matter-just find a bestseller and rewrap it, remembering that games can be created in weeks if you wave a job in front of developers' faces.
This is why I will forever be a Nintendo supporter. They never focused on graphical horsepower since the launch of the Wii and actually cares about their customers by delivering great gaming experiences.

I think the real issue is that modern consoles are basically just Ryzen-powered PCs, so there’s no real incentive to design games specifically for one console anymore. Back in the '90s and 2000s, consoles often had unique hardware features baked into their CPUs that you couldn’t find anywhere else. PCs at the time were also kind of a joke for gaming-either too expensive or not powerful enough for what consoles could do. Nowadays, hardware has been streamlined to make multi-platform compatibility easier. Sure, gaming PCs are still more expensive than consoles, but the gap isn’t as big, and the exclusivity of console hardware just isn’t there anymore. Consoles used to innovate with their hardware, offering experiences you couldn’t get anywhere else. Now, it’s all about making everything work everywhere, when i see a game on PS5 i'm just waiting for it to come on PC few years later .....
The Xbox 360 remains in my opinion the greatest leap. When devs took advantage of Xenon and Xenos, the games showed it. Cell too showed off with the Uncharted games, but man the blood sweat and tears from the graphics programmers. Platforms back then forced excellence, just to get things working, and we got much higher quality for it.
Tell me you dont know anything about technology without telling me you dont know anything about technology. Is it cope, or do you actually believe what you just said? i've been building and selling PC's for 30 years.. Consoles have never managed to be much faster than a Pc with the Cpu. They've had Gpu advantages, but NOT cpu.
@@Dj-Mccullough Cope? Maybe you're projecting I don't know, why being so insulting straight of the bat where this could have been a peaceful conversation? It’s really sad to live this way. Anyway, I guess I’ll match your tone then. I don’t see how building and selling PCs is relevant to this topic. It’s interesting that you focused on the CPU part to gain a foothold in the conversation, that's interesting because I never said PC CPUs were weaker than consoles in fact I avoided to make this statement because as you seem to know, PC CPUs had higher clock than console. However where you make a mistake is the way those clock cycles were used or, more specifically, what was available on the machine in terms of co-processors, GPUs, specific instructions, etc. At the time the Neo Geo was clearly superior in gaming performance compared to any PC at the time but its price killed it. Then we had the N64 and the PS1, especially the PS1 with its 700MB on a CD while PC HDDs did cost and arm and a leg for a single gigabyte, also honorable mention for the PS3 being used as a supercomputer on top of being a great console, due to its Cell processor that was more cost effective than the equivalent PC hardware. There is too many factors to consider, but to put it simply: apart from Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein, what PC game before 2000 is really remembered today?(we can also add starcraft and warcraft too i guess) Now compare that with the number of console titles from the same period that became popular. Developers back then clearly preferred spending time developing for consoles and for obvious reasons. When I said PCs back then were kind of a joke for gaming, I meant it. You may not like it, but there were far more consoles in households than PCs back then. Price was one of the major factors. Again I'll repeat myself but when you have game software designed for a Hardware that has itself specifically designed for gaming you get result that far exceed what you could get on a PC, with a reasonable price of course. Don't bring your RTX 4090 against a PS5 in this kind of comparison. If you need 82 TFLOPs to beat a 10 TFLOP machine, it’s like a 30-year-old bragging about beating up a 10-year-old.... Anyway, I think consoles suck nowadays. I'm not going to play the white Knight for them, the price/performance ratios isn't as advantageous as it used to be. It's not about brute force it’s about achieving great results within limitations. Back then, consoles nailed that balance(mainly because they had no choice due to hardware constraints). Now, they feel like diluted versions of what they used to be. My point is more about how the hardware landscape has evolved. Modern consoles are designed more like PCs now, with off-the-shelf components like Ryzen CPUs(with some custom stuff added sure, but still). This shift contrasts with the past, when consoles often pushed unique innovations that set them apart from PCs.
Stalker 2 is a huge selling point for the Eastern European market, everybody here knows what Stalker is, no advertisement needed as UA-camrs basically do that and you might find that out yourself.
Xbox managed to sell themselves as the best deal in gaming. Maybe not for new games. But you have 20 years of games. And pretty okay backwards compatibility...
Best deal for retards, probably. The upfront costs and subscriptions are eating away at your wallet. Building a PC is a one-time investment that can get its moneys worth back. Free operating systems, free games (if you're fine with using qbittorrent), and a better ecosystem from Steam that don't charge monthly costs to play online.
Ye the only thing xbox is good for i only play mirrors edge and skate 3 on my lil bro xbox cuz i cant play em on my ps5 other than those games xbox usless for me
really best deal their prices constantly go up cause that's always happens with Subscription services and something else Subscriptions have as a downside the Constant REMOVAL of Games so the Best deal is to actually buy those old games either on GOG or Steam and download cracks so you can Really own them
Awesome video man. Great editing and commentary. You're absolutely right, I still play games on my ps4 because I don't see a lot of stuff worth playing on ps5 when I can play them on Steam.
This actually puts my perspective in a different direction. I forgot the tax that comes with huge ip acquisitions and studio buyouts. It's not that games are not profitable compared to the development budget, it's that they can't additionally cover the cost of the initial investment to buy them in the first place. This is part of the reason why investment dollars negatively affects products as making money rules over consumer satisfaction
Microsoft doesn't make games, they buy them. That was actually pretty funny. They are just some mega cooperation trying to please video game players. They are not video game players themselves but a money hungry company trying to please their audience and they have no idea what they are doing. That's why its a mess.
They’re all video game players actually. Phil consistently gets nuked on fallout 76. It’s the Sony guys who never even touched a controller. Go look up a picture of Jim Ryan and a controller. That’s why Sony is being dominated right now in terms of content output by Xbox. 🤣

I think people underestimate how large PC gaming and how its growing more and is in fact the majority. You see consoles bringing games to PC now to try to double dip I think people outside looking think all PCs cost 3k but that's far from true. PCs are also usable for more than just gaming.
I got a Xbox series x but never bought any recent games. I went to a local retro store and bought 360 games. That’s one of the good things of the console
Relatively speaking, gaming is actually a lot cheaper than it was in the "golden age" 20 years ago. N64 games, like Ocarina of Time, were $60 at release. In today's money, that is $120. The Xbox 360 released for $299 in 2005 which is $485 in today's money.

I genuinely think if they did actual necessary remasters like the original ratchet and clank games on PS2 or the original god of war games on PS2 it’ll help the PS5’s perception
I agree but the problem is they have a huge budget for the remasters and then that drives focus away from new ip’s (which haven’t been going well anyway) and they keep focusing on ps4/ps3 games to remaster rather than ps1 and ps2 and they aren’t releasing a small game in between big game releases to maximize profits.
UA-cam Recommended I still play Playstation 2 and 3 games. I also play 8th gen games on pc. The only reason why I would want Playstation 5 is Grand Theft Auto 6.
It also sucks that remasters make unnecessary changes now like changing Spider-Man’s face. And that 60 fps has been the new standard since 2015 but console games are still always locked at 30 fps.
@@V3ntilator it’s such a huge L. @@tarnishedhunter222 Yes, because they have to make the games fit in with the modern audience and politics... As you probably know already, there is no such thing as a modern audience. At least people vote with their wallets on this "mess" they release to make sure they don't sell. It works. People sadly still pre-order broken games, but that's a different story...
Consoles are having a hard time selling these days for a couple of major reasons. First, many people simply don’t have as much disposable income as they did a decade ago. Second, there’s growing frustration with physical discs that function mostly as download keys: the initial game on the disc is often riddled with bugs, forcing you to install massive updates just to make it playable without risking a save-breaking crash. Even though Blu-ray discs can technically hold up to 128GB, developers have grown careless with code and graphics optimization. Within a year, a game that starts out at around 90GB can bloat to 150GB after all the patches. A better solution might be to bring back cartridges, but equipped with internal SSD storage. The idea is to use only 40-50% of that space at launch, so as updates, bug fixes, and DLC roll out, they’re stored on the cartridge rather than taking up precious space on your console’s SSD. Moreover, this would mean all your save data lives on the cartridge itself, letting you simply pop it into a friend’s console-PlayStation, Xbox, or otherwise-and pick up exactly where you left off. Finally, a sturdy cartridge is far more pleasant and durable to own than a fragile disc that can be scratched, ruining any chance of reinstalling the game if you ever need to delete it.
When halo sucks ass why would anybody buy an Xbox . it’s the only thing Xbox has got. I feel like if Xbox wants success they should make a great halo game for once

Back then PC gaming was expensive. But nowadays, PC gaming literally costs as much as a console now (I literally paid $700 for a PC. That’s exactly how much a PS5 Pro costs in America). And you get Game Pass and PlayStation games after Sony saw that the money is on PC and they should capitalize on that market (despite requiring PSN like the bums they are. God bless piracy and mods). At this point, the only reason to really own a PlayStation or Xbox in 2024-25 is to ensure that you’re ready for GTA 6, because we all know that it’ll be on PC, but it’s not launching right away, so might as well have a console ready by then.
@@MonkeydudyWhy would I spend $500 on a piece of junk limited corporate console when I already have a $500 built pc that can run 144 frame per second in 90% of the modern games??
@serpentblader0957 no one I personally know has one. Only people that I've met in YT chats seem to have the portal. It does look good, but steaming just seems like a odd choice to me. I picked up a Legion Go to replace my switch for indies and other non Nintendo games.
Probably because handheld gaming is WAY more popular than console games when you think about it. The gba, psp, nds, 3ds, and steam deck sold well. Hell the PlayStation portal would’ve definitely sold well if it didn’t had that stupid must be connected to the ps5’s wifi to play ps5 games gimmick. Not to say console games aren’t successful pre say but the difference between the success rate of handhelds and console is surprising. The only bad selling handhelds i can think of is the sega game gear, psvita, virtual boy, and playstation portal. Whilst with consoles there’s alot of flip flopping(not with PlayStation since every PlayStation was a success so far with the worst sales one hitting 80 million hardware sales) gamecube(great console but had too many issues during the time and no dvd player), the original xbox, xbox series s, xbox series X, wii u, and N64. Yap session done.

not quite right, the true console wars started between Nintendo and Sega in the 90's before then it wasnt a war as such but more like a debate between Atari and Nintendo with Commodore 64 having a word or two here and there.
Consoles aren’t new anymore, and neither are most of the games. Around the year 2000, gaming on PCs and consoles still felt fresh for a lot of people, and so did the game genres like first-person shooters. However, despite improvements in graphics and hardware, the fundamental gameplay has often remained the same, which can lead many players to lose interest over time. Nowadays, people might be less inclined to invest in yet another console release or a new installment of a familiar franchise if they aren’t seeing significant innovation. Personally, I’m tired of "not owning" the games I paid or are supposed to pay a lot of money for. I can still play my Dreamcast games, but as soon as companies shut down their servers, I won’t be able to play DRM-protected digital downloads nowadays. For example, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is still downloadable via the EA app if it's in your inventory, but you can’t start the game unless you crack it, because it can’t connect to the servers that once verified it’s a legitimate copy. I rarely buy games nowadays, and even if, I’m not going to buy anything from anyone other than GOG anytime soon. Screw all subscription models and all companys insisting on them. Same for Smartphone market. Why buy new, if it works. Newer phones do the same, just a little better, but not worth 1200 bucks.

Nintendo learned decades ago that consoles that push graphics to the limit don't make sales. They knew that over time, good graphics will catch up to their consoles and that their IPs and creativity will make sales. Nintendo has an amazing opportunity to destroy Sony and Microsoft with their next Switch.
Absolutely agree. Initially I was really bummed out with the graphical fidelity of the Wii, Wii-U, and Switch, but now I fully appreciate what they did; The avoided getting in the graphical arms race that has led to extremely expensive and risky game development. I fully expect Nintendo to blow peoples expectations with the Switch 2.
@@paulmcavoy7312 Hardware and software sales show otherwise. Nintendo Switch has outsold Sony and Microsoft even with a significantly less powerful system. The Switch 2 is going to still be behind, but the performance margin will be much smaller.
As a console gamer and Playstation fanboy, I observed that Gamers today prefer convenience. A lot of my friends switched to buying handheld devices. PS5 is a great console, but it's bulky and expensive. These devs also totally forgot what gamers really want. Sony kept releasing failed games like Concord and such, and then they release PS5 PRO which totally removed all the things that gamers want (Disk Drive) WHILE increasing the price tenfold. Of course, most won't buy that and are totally happy with just the basic PS5. That's what you get for being greedy and being out of touch with your core audience - you fail again and again. And what does insanity mean? It's doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.
why own an Xbox? uh, because gamepass has way more games and better games than PS Plus, the Series X has the single best cooling system design of any console ever built, you can run your GPU into thermo nuclear levels and you still wont notice the temperature increase because everything is still running cool. If you like modding games but dont want to run PC, Xbox is way more supportive of mods than sony
Lets also be clear xbox gamepass is built mainly of games we could have played on cartoon network back in the day not good quality games for an 800 dollar console at all😂

Meanwhile Gamepass has all the 3d fallouts, Farcry's, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Stalker 2, most of the battlefield games, black ops 6, Sniper Elite series, minecraft, madden, day z, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Assassin's Creed series, city skylines 1 and 2, and loads more, all included.
Yeah, I don't know wtf Sony and Microsoft were even doing this gen. After this gen I firmly believe Nintendo is the only company out of the three who understands the gaming industry at all.
They should have never bought a single studio and considered to license. They also should have focused on one or two live service investments. I understand the desire for money signs but the amount of debt they exposed themselves to is insane.
Not really, the switch has been the worst console ige used when it comes to software. The switch has weak hardware and can't play games on good graphics. It comes down to one thing, the industry sold us 4k TVs. Then they realised the consoles couldn't cope with the 9 fold resolution increase from 720p to 2160p. Last 2 generation of consoles have been massively outclasssed by PCs with midrange parts running on 1080p and 1440p screens.
PS5 exclusive games are supposed to be games that are ONLY on PS5.. PS5 games that are on PC are NOT PS5 exclusives anymore. So Helldivers is not exclusive, R&C Rift Apart is not exclusive, Returnal is not exclusive.. Spiderman 2 is exclusive but won't be for long, since Sony games come to PC, there is a difference ebtween being PS5 exclusive and Sony exclusive. I thought this was very clear from years ago.
Nah pc is a beast of it's own with emulation, mods, vr, and streaming. so it doesn't count as a console since the consoles are restricted from modifications without going the illegal way.
The only reason to get a 9th gen console is if a PC is too expensive, you don't want a PC, you want to play like 1 exclusive game or if your friends play only console games with no crossplay. You have more reasons to get a 8th gen to 6th gen console (PS4 to PS2) than a 9th gen console.

Gen 10 of consoles are probably gonna get even worse. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m sticking with older games.
I’m switching over to PC.
Or nvidia gets off their high horse and stops making $2k graphics cards... which is highly unlikely.

The example that the video used was “why doesn’t Naughty Dog make another Jak and Daxter game?”
The answer? Because who would care. Sony has let that IP completely atrophy in the public consciousness. Nintendo keeps people interested in Mario games, Zelda games, even Kirby games.

Even if they didn’t add anything, a simple UI change that shows a stark contrast from the last generation shows “damn this is new and fresh” don’t understand this mentality of like “well we don’t wanna risk it so let’s not try something new.”
I really only bring it up cuz something as simple as that would literally make the competition a lot less appealing

Been using consoles for almost a decade and never paid for these "required" services. Am I doing something wrong?
Hardware is not the issue. Launching their games on PC is.

Best deal for retards, probably. The upfront costs and subscriptions are eating away at your wallet. Building a PC is a one-time investment that can get its moneys worth back. This actually puts my perspective in a different direction. I forgot the tax that comes with huge ip acquisitions and studio buyouts.

It also sucks that remasters make unnecessary changes now like changing Spider-Man’s face. And that 60 fps has been the new standard since 2015 but console games are still always locked at 30 fps.

@@tarnishedhunter222 Yes, because they have to make the games fit in with the modern audience and politics... As you probably know already, there is no such thing as a modern audience. This is why Concord, Suicide Squad, Dustborn etc. flopped hard as they were aiming at a non existing market.
These remasters are changed for the wrong reasons, and will often flop.
Xbox has the value proposition attached to it, but the lack of competitive exclusive games is really killing their console sales potential.

not quite right, the true console wars started between Nintendo and Sega in the 90's before then it wasnt a war as such but more like a debate between Atari and Nintendo with Commodore 64 having a word or two here and there.
