My Dad, may he rest, produced the original with Eliot Lurie's band, fought with him on how the song should sound, and worked tirelessly on recording it so it sounded perfect. Hearing this cover sent chills through me, and I know Dad would have loved this legacy he left behind was treated with the same love and passion he treated the song. Being his son, you guys get two thumbs up from me!
WOW! Your dad worked with Looking Glass! My cousin and I walked around singing this song all summer of 1972. I just love how the original singer just sang it with his heart not over reacting and not dramatizing. He simply is himself. That is so hot and sexy! The perfect man!
What a blast! Thanks to BHTM for letting me be a part of this. Doing background vocals with Erica and Jeremy is about as much fun as you can have on a Tuesday without breaking laws.
As a 64-year-old American guy, this song echoes in the canyons of my mind. The audio quality on this cover/remake is superb. Clean as can be and quite perfectly balanced. You folks are good.
Vocals are too good and horns are crisp like toasted butter. I had to sub and see what else you guys are laying down. This makes me want to be a musician.
W O W ! This is the most fantastic cover I have ever heard. The horns are just Fabulous. The back-up singers are absolutely 100% extraordinary. The keyboard is mystical and beautiful. The drums are perfect. Todd's singing voice has a unique feeling that brings ''Brandy'' and the noble Sailor back to life in our hearts.
They played this song when we saw them last week (8/2/23) in Albuquerque. We were all singing along. These guys are outstanding and are SO good in concert.
Me neither... Isn't a tune that I think of when I think of Tod and his crew. But hey, when you got a Big Head, I guess you can man anything sound good. What's next, The Monster Mash?
I was blessed enough to meet Todd Park Mohr and the rest of the band about a year and a half ago in Waikiki. And I can tell you that he is as gentle in his personality as he is in his singing style.. Sweet and calm.. He was so gracious and polite. Not a rock star but a Human star.. Thanks Todd.. For giving me life long memories..
Wow! Todd sounds a lot like the original singer of this song. I wonder if this was _his_ idea, or if someone told him he sounds, 'just like that guy in Looking Glass.'
WOW !!! This is NO Cover -- it is a TRIBUTE to the original !!! The lyrics were always there - but something was missing. The horn section & back - up singers fill out the song PERFECTLY !!! I now have TWO versions of one of my favorite one - hit wonder songs.
I am not a fan of re-makes and especially a song that was my favorite as a teenager, but this is the best re-make I think I have ever heard. This is definitely one of the most under rated bands of all time.
Awesome rendition! You did such a great job on “Brandy” I’d love to hear you cover “Dancing in the Moonlight” (King Harvest) and “Come and Get Your Love” (Redbone).
Nailed it! The addition of the female voices was a genius move -- just enough to make it your own but not so much that it is pulled away from the perfection of its original character. This song is a classic among classics.
I rarely like the newer version of old songs but this one is different. Really good sound. As a bass player, I can say the bass track is absolutely great.
Man they are good, especially the lead singer if I was blindfolded I wouldn't know the difference between them and the looking glass, this is one of the better covers I've ever heard, really awesome job, I subscribed
I just discovered this band. I went all the way back to when Todd had long hair! I love his voice. I'm hooked on a old tune, Bittersweet!! ❤🥰 I have a lot of music by them left to discover. This song is off the hook!! You guys nailed it!!

Number One on the Billboard charts in 1972...you guys and gals killed it, The lead singers voice is a spot on match. Horn section? Check,..crazy good backup vocal section? Cheçk...old school wurlitzer? Check...conducting a clinic on how real music is made...priceless. "Dancin in the moonlight" is squarely in your wheelhouse.
Imagine my surprise when a few years go I was getting coffee from the kitchen and heard this blasting from my teenage sons bathroom while he was showering. Kid has great taste in music
My wife was listening to this and I walked out into the living room and asked her oh the looking glass come to find out it was big head Todd and the sprockets and holy Molly what a great cover, you guys nailed it!!❤
There are a handful of songs you just shouldn't cover --y'know, leave it alone. This is one of them. Then BHTM does just that, does a better job than the original, and leaves me awe struck. This is terrific.
Very rare is the cover song that I like better than the original. This is one of those times. The original by Looking Glass has been a favorite of mine forever, but I am blown away by how good this is. I have been a Big Head Todd fan for a long time. Perfection.
My wife and I are an acoustic duo in central PA. Last summer we played at a winery and had a request for this song. I felt bad that we couldn't do it, so I went home and learned it. This past weekend we played three shows and did this song at every one. It's a classic. It's my practice to occasionally go back and listen to the original to make sure we're not straying too far from the intent and spirit of the song. I saw this cover and was curious. This is impeccable. The little phrasing nuances of the lead vocal are a delightful twist. Thank you so much for sharing it!
You never disappoint! I've been in love with Todd Mohr and BHTM since I was introduced to Sister Sweetly in the 90's. I've seen them many times-Toads place in New Haven, Mohegan Sun, and a few years ago at FTC with BHTM Blues Club. They never disappoint! Can't wait until I can hear them live once again, it will be a sweet sound!
So many great memories from Toad's Place. I don't know if it's still there but they used to hang a plaque on the wall in the sound booth dedicated to a friend of mine, "The Duke of Sound". Great, great place.

"Brandy" was always on the radio when I was a kid in Canada driving up to the Lake for the summer in the 70´s. Just found this. Never heard of the band before. Superb. How do I find other stuff by them? Tried You tube. Nada,
My sister went to high school with them at Columbine. Bryan gave her a cassette tape of their music. Later, when I was in school at CU Boulder, I went to a party on The Hill and Todd was playing live music in the living room. I’ll never forget it. They are such a great band.
I love that you guys took these rhythmic liberties you couldn’t necessarily take if this was a studio track. Makes it more interesting to listen to, and I love it. Great work!
Who the hell dislikes this? That was an absolutely stellar performance. Todd's voice sounds great and the band is tight as hell as usual. That along with the fantastic backing vocals and the horns... top notch! I'm sure Looking Glass approves of this rendition of their song. I sure as hell enjoyed it immensely.
This is one of the best covers ever! I was planning on taking my wife to see you last weekend, but tropical storm Ian had other plans. My wife was named Brandi, after the original Looking Glass song!
I subscribed to this channel. Couldn't let it pass when the band has: 1. Gorgeous lady singer 2. Hilariously awesome band name. 3. Fantastic choice of cover songs.
They had another big hit that I love and I believe it had national airplay, but at least in the Denver, CO region....I think the band is from Boulder, CO. Anyway, the song is "Bittersweet"
My Dad, may he rest, produced the original with Eliot Lurie's band, fought with him on how the song should sound, and worked tirelessly on recording it so it sounded perfect. That's high praise. Totally agree 👍
Excellent! You've made me proud.
Elliot, your song lives on..!! Great version here.
That means a lot coming from you. Thank you! Wishing you well.
Love this man!!
@@bigheadtoddmonsters, too cool! You guys really did this song justice. Just perfect!
I can’t think of a better band to cover this song. Your voice is just perfect for this.
It’s a bold move covering this song.
Killed it
It is bold but they stayed true to the original.
This group had some success. Listen to "Bittersweet"
I hope they will play this Song at my celebration of life. Not much time left. I pray for all of y’all. Chin up look ahead.
Hearing this brought a flood of memories…..excellent! Our generation made the best music EVER!
cant argue with that. soul (or humanity) is severely lacking in everything any more
I was born in 1990 and this is still one of my favourite songs ever
Those backup singers are phenomenal!! Really makes the song come together.
agreed
The Brass! That was spectacular as well.
@@Pensacola-HandymanI was thinking the same thing awesome horns
Pretty sure that's Hazel Miller on backup vocals.
Hazel is a legend in Colorado and rightfully so..
Fantastic singer..
Big head Todd is one of the most underrated bands out there.
Totally!!!
I saw these guys open up for the Spin Doctors in 92 or 93
Could not agree more.
Totally agree
You are so right...I've been a fan since the 1980's.
Big thumbs up to the background singers who really nail it -taking it to the next level.
don't forget the brass
Well, thank you! (From the redheaded background singer.)
Scott Fitzgerald agree; terrific!
Exactly - wow, everyone just nailed their parts
No doubt, alot of people don't realize the importance of strong harmonies, and how it completely tightens the overall sound..
This is every bit as good as the original. Good 4 Big Todd.
The keyboard, the brass, the session singers, and the cold ending make this version absolutely spectacular!
FANTASTIC ! Todd's voice is so perfect for this jewel of a song!
What a blast! Thanks to BHTM for letting me be a part of this. Doing background vocals with Erica and Jeremy is about as much fun as you can have on a Tuesday without breaking laws.
thanks for being part of this wonderful song
you were awesome, hope to see you again
You guys were the glue... excellent job- Great voices.
Thank you, great job ......
Awesome
That's about as close to perfection of covering a song as you are ever likely to hear. Bravo!
really is man this fantastic
Totally AGREE!!!
I agree
As a 64-year-old American guy, this song echoes in the canyons of my mind. The audio quality on this cover/remake is superb. Clean as can be and quite perfectly balanced. You folks are good.
I'm just a child of 61 but I have to agree...the sounds of my youth
Mine too.. back in the day
Very clean
I’m a pup at 55. They do my favourite song a legitimate justice.
Happy New Year, old timers. 😁👍🏼
Those back up singers and the horn section deserve a thumbs up. Love it!
Not gonna lie, I saw these mo-fos in the thumbnail and knew this cover was going to be lit. Not disappointed. Thank you, my peoples.
Vocals are too good and horns are crisp like toasted butter. I had to sub and see what else you guys are laying down. This makes me want to be a musician.
Amazing version
Big Head Todd tearing up a song that most of us have hanging around in our background memories. Great version and such an underrated band.
Amen, Neuman. Carry me back to the 1990's to my 20's when I was a young man.
If you would have told me this was a live version by Looking Glass done in1974, I would have no reason to dispute it. Excellent cover!!
No doubt. They nailed it.

Thanks for a splendid cover of one of my favorite songs!
Elliot did say he was proud. Oh and also excellent.
Wow! Todd sounds a lot like the original singer of this song. I wonder if this was _his_ idea, or if someone told him he sounds, 'just like that guy in Looking Glass.'
Todd's delivery in the verses is a bit more "on top" of the beat and pushes the song along, but tonally he's an uncanny doppelgänger.
I know! I had to do a double take.
I thought the exact same thing!
That guy from Looking Glass is Elliot Lurie, one of the most under rated singer/song writers.
I suggested it to him over 25 years ago and he said I was not the first.
Man goosebumps from head to toe! This is just such an epic song!!! If you down voted you can kiss my A$&!! One of the best songs ever written.
Holy cow! Looking glass must be proud.
You already know Denver loves you! Thanks for all the music and memories growing up. Your music helped me through some tough stuff. One love 🤙
Instant classic rendition of a classic! Thanks BHTM! Love backup vocals and the horns!!
Awww they did rock it huh... 😎😎😎🥳
