I don't get emotional when musicians or celebrities die. But right now this 40 year old man is crying like a baby listening to this song. Words can't express the talent this man possessed. The world lost a great one that will never be replaced. Love you man and thanks for the music! R.I.P. Chris....for people who don't understand why others mourn the death of artists, you need to understand that these people have been a shoulder to cry on. A rock. So when they die a part of us dies.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My older brother passed away on October 2nd. 2013. He was only 49. Bone cancer stole him from our family. He too loved to play the guitar. This always makes me really miss him. I still feel his loss every day. Makes me cry. 3years ? Has it ONLY been 3; Feels like an Eternity.Chris Cornell taught us; life is complicated & good, even with all it's imperfections, Are we not; ALL our own worst enemies?Chris , had a gift that's given to only A FEW.
according to the guitarist there they only practiced the song 1 time before this, and that was in the studio there, it was almost completely spur of the moment. amazing
I was in grade 9 . Making the Alberta boy transition from liking my parents music (country, Elvis , Beatles etc.) And my buddy says yo Im going to audioslave in Edmonton. Parents can get a spare ticket for you. I was like sure , whoever the fuck audioslave is. Part of me wished I was an earlier learner in good music and I showed up knowing their tunes, but part of me was glad I was introduced that day and forever changed.
I lost my dog today, I had her from 16 years ago.. I love you Kuky, hope you are in heaven playing with the other dogs, filled with love... If you see Chris Cornell give him my regards, be nice with the other dogs in heaven.. I love you...
Sorry brother. I know how u feel and you just knocked the wind out me with this. He's having a blast and playing with all the dogs to ever cross the bridge. It's hard but you'll get through it.
My god i miss this man. I come back to this video monthly because i just still can’t believe he’s gone. I have probably contributed to 100,000 views of this video. Miss you Chris.
I am 38 years old now, so I am proud to say that I grew up listening to legends such as Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell. It makes me sad to see that they are all gone. As sad as it is, it seems to me that this is more than the terrible and tragic individual losses, it seems to me that an era just ended. But the music remains and it will go on inspiring people all over the world. And I find that reassuring. And then I came across to this Chris cover, and I was blown away. Definitly the music will stay! Thank you, Chris!
Of all the saddest coincidences....I had an 18 year old son that passed away in my living room, died in his sleep, brain aneurysm,he played the guitar beautifully,he looked just like Chris Cornell, the way they dressed, the hair, the dimples, even his muscle structure,so many similarities that I could not even watch him for a long time without breaking,so needless to say the man was such a great performer and singer, and the fact he reminded me of Garrett so much,he inveribly become my favorite. My son taught my younger son to play when he was 8yrs old and he is absolutely amazing to watch,he is 14 now and can play anything, and do it perfectly, just for Garrett and his legacy. So the day I found out that Chris Cornell had passed away I broke down,my son died all over again, there went the only man that kept him alive for me.....no one can imagine the loss of a child, unless you know, and I don't know why I'm saying any of this,I'm just so baffled by the way someone I never met or knew,I seemed to know so well....it hurt almost the same,so to my son Garrett Randal McBride, and to Chris Cornell...I hope y'all meet on the other side, someday I will see them again, may you both rest in peace, the hurt and sadness I've seen in both of your eyes is over, that's all.
Sad to hear of the passing of Sinead O’Connor, such a beautiful soul and the voice of an angel. Another legend has left this plain of existence; Chris did an amazing job with this cover I miss this man’s incredible voice, I hope they are finally at peace
I just got off work @ 3:00am. This is what I got as a welcome home. This is a Capitol way to end a hard of classes, and work serving the public. I've loved THE MIGHTY ZEPP since I was a kid in their early daze. My mother was classically trained on piano, and back then ,even she knew how special an spectacular Zepp was, and still is. This young lady has gone along way toward restoring my hope, and faith in the redemption we can all find thru excellence and passion toward such a beautiful art form THANX,,and DONT STOP.!!
I'm an old guy. I never really was aware of Chris Cornell until watching this video. I've watched it now at least 6 times. Damn and double Damn, he was good.
His vocal on 'The Last Remaining Light' is one of the most phenomenal things I have ever heard! His range, and his precise control was unbelievable! Sadly missed.
It's been seven hours and fifteen days Since you took your love away I go out all night and sleep all day Since you took your love away Since you've been gone I can do whatever I want I can see whoever I choose I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant But nothing, nothing can take away these blues 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares To you It's been so lonely without you here Like a bird without a song Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling Tell me Where did I go wrong? I can put my arms around any girl I choose But it just reminds me of you I went to the doctor and guess what he told me He said, "Boy, you better try to have fun No matter what you do" But he's a fool 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares To you All the flowers that you planted mama in your backyard All died when you went away And I know living with me baby is sometimes hard, but I'm willing To give it another try 'Cause nothing compares Nothing compares To you Nothing compares Nothing compares To you To you To you
When you lose the person you love, theres an agony like nothing else and Chris Cornell's version of this song hits the correct sentiment, more so than any other version, even Prince's, the man who wrote it. Rip Chris Cornell and Prince, two of the greatest.
Let's be honest.... That hurt u feel will nvr Completely go away... But I wouldn't want it to...the hurt reminds me of her...even if thats all thats left
Lost soul my ass, his soul was given to the victims of child and sex trafficking by creating the documentary "The Silent Children". Dont be fucken fooled that he committed suicide, his and Chester Bennington's life were taken right before they fi ished the documentary. Sad thing is, no one would believe how many Hollywood elites who are in involved in , child/sex trafficking, pedophila rings, Adrenochrome production and organ harvesting. Remember, the ones who declined selling their soul for fame, are the ones who were taken out because they knew what was going on. Dark becomes light. They will have one unbearable hell to face!
This song brings me back to listen to it again and again. Every time I hear it, I discover something new about his interpretation. Simply amazing. R.I.P. Chris. Thank you for this masterpiece.
I'm 74 yrs old & never gave grunge a 2nd look till I heard this cat with Sound Garden & I was blown away by his massive voice , I bought the entire Sound Garden catalog & that led me to Pearl Jam , Chris Cornell had the best voice in all music genres within my musical experience which started with my 1st concert seeing Vanilla Fudge & Frank Zappa and the Mothers in 1969 .

I've never EVER commented on a forum like this, but it's so awesome to see somebody discover this music - definitely check Temple of the Dog, and they have a different sound but Smashing Pumpkins had a lot of great tracks too

Some humans have voices drenched in honey. Sweat. Pain. Anger. Release. Power. Fear... or a mighty mighty strength. Chris had all of these and more that have no words to describe. Miss you brother. Thank you for your time here..
The song live to rise played continually in November 2011; I dully listened as my father had just died and it was only a few years later that I felt compelled to look up this song that I recalled playing and playing , and I didn't know who or the name; how extremely fitting that the song was about being a hero in your own LIFE...on a side note, Chris Cornell and I have the same exact birthdate; and, then he , Chris Cornell, ,died on my dad's birthday and...something mysterious is going on , ever, in life ... That's for sure
This one hit me like “Don’t take the girl”. Just got home from a father son trip with my 79 year old dad that we have been putting off for years. 3 in the morning reflecting on our trip and my relationship with my father and discovered this. Beautiful song.
Great talent is often paired with great pain. It is a sad and beautiful tragedy. My deepest sorrow and respect go to Chris and his family. We are lucky to have shared his experience.
Our good performers are under an immense amount of stress to please their fans. I can't imagine the tremendous pressure they are under when performing on an almost daily basis. I will miss Chris and Chad forever.
Depression. Its an awful illness. The mental battle experienced daily can be overwhelming. This guy was a miracle to so many. He literally saved lives through his passionate, musical, talent gifted from God. His illness eventually took him away from all of us. RIP Chris! You are missed!
It hurts coming across stuff like this. Knowing one of the world greats is no longer with us. Reat easy Chris. You made so many happy and smile. You are greatly missed and the measurements of your passion will live on brother.
Does anyone know why or what was going on in his life, seems like he had a great family and friends support network very successful career I mean I know that doesn't always mean your happy but was there anything that triggered this

Today this song and this particular version sound louder and clearer than ever. Time flies and people move, but the feelings given by these people will forever remain on
You must let it completely go all of it no matter how good they where to your life. Life does move on the past can never be changed and statistically trying to bring past people back after they've been gone for 3 years or more usually fails because we are constantly evolving as people. Timed and society are changing all the time. New eras come and go. Embrace the new people in your life. Depression will be their When remembering the past and hanging onto it. They say memories are great to have but it's better when you don't need to remember them to avoid depression. We also change every 7 years its a fact. We go through new life cycles the people you once new 7 a few years back will not be the same people as uou won't be to them.
Damn.. this song is so emotional ...every song this man sing does become the best version of the original. Heaven got the best singer in our generation . R.I.P. Chris.
Of course Chris' performance is amazing, but that guitar solo was perfection. Note choice, inflection, nuance, it has it all. The cello performance was also perfection. This entire band's performance was perfection. I've listened to this so many times, and I'm sure I'll listen to it this many more times. Just an amazing performance all the way around. 👏🏻
Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, Shannon Hoon, Bradley Nowell, and Chris Cornell...Never thought Nirvana, Alice N Chains, Sublime, Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots and Blind Melon would be so limited in longevity. All played a key role in 90's last music revolution. It was the singles movie soundtrack that introduce Grunge to the rest of the world...
King Panda one of the greatest voices to hit the grunge and alternative genre. he was very talented and could probably sing anything. so sad he had more to give us.
Nothing shall ever compare to Chris Cornell. His voice, his essence, his being. He is one of the ones that my heart broke for. I had upcoming concert tickets.😢😢
56 years ago today in Seattle, a star was born. He forever shaped music, innovated a movement, crossed all genres of music, and is forever irreplaceable join me in saying Happy birthday to the King of Grunge, Mr. Christopher John Boyle Cornell, forever loved, always missed.
SBakerNYC I can agree with that. But king of grunge goes to kurt cobain. Song writing (as well as learning an instrument) is a learned talent. Kurt wrote better lyrics to songs than Bob Dylan in my opinion.
For future comments I am beyond, fully aware that Sinead O'Connor also sang this song. Sheeesh! How about this for a fun fact...This song was also sung by The Family on their 1985 album.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. Everyone can relate to this song. So many covers and they are all brilliant. This voice haunts me now that he is gone. Unique and beautiful RIP
Written by a genius, sang by an angel, covered by a legend.
Mark, perfect way to describe this version.
