Paul Carrack has such a beautiful voice and is one of the most underrated musicians of his era. Who else agrees with me?
Damned good vocals!
Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics, yes.

I can’t believe that Justin Beibers new song yummy has over 70 mil views but gosh it’s absolute garbage. You can’t beat the old classics.

So glad I grew up in a generation that got to enjoy so much great music, nothing fake, real meaning, great vocals and backing.
Me too those were the days , I wish I can go back….love it!!!
I feel the same way about this music
Ditto
I feel ya!!!!❤
Add me to the list of those grateful to have experienced the 70s!
I’m 67 and still grooving to this music!! 70’s were the best ever and great memories 💖💕💃
Superb say no more brilliant
Good for you keep going she is not a number and music is forever... Meetings is back to memories and makes new ones so good for the soul. Keep jamming my friend!! I'm 57 still going out dancing in weekends!!
81 here . Still closing my eyes and diggin it
I'm 60 years old and still love this beautiful music when there was no techno.... the best music I agree with you❤
Born in the 60's so I have to say that growing from then till now is a better experience. Groups like Earth Wind & Fire and Ace ( Paul Carrack) these cats really put their hearts in their music. How Long is a song you'll never forget. I have these songs, I love these songs and they will always be remembered. Forever Ace (Paul Carrack)
God, I miss the 70’s.. there was no music like it..

Never

For real what a voice this guy has
AWESOME I’m 65 and still LOVE this❤❤❤
I’m going on 76 + my voice is still a powerhouse singing along with him! 😉😁 There will never be sounds like this era again…weren’t we lucky! 🫠🎼🎤🎹

Keep Rockin It!

I’m 72, played bass for 50+ years, what great music this is with great musicians. Thanks Paul and incredible band from Western Australia.
Yup I'm a born and bread West Aussies🇦🇺
I've been a singer in Perth for 48 years & sang in a beautiful studio up until recently for fun, I'm recovering from a brain tumour removal & OMG how I miss it, the band ceased & yes this music is beautiful, I'm from the UK originally singing in soul bands originally. I just love the transition of this song into reggae. I was listening to the Russian/Ukrainian band's music prior to this, also beautiful, forgot the name for a while, "Leonid & friends best studio sessions" someone else put together.
73. Feel the same way.
Same here. Bass, played this in a club band a looong time ago.
Black suits and ties. All live. No autotune. What class. An element rarely seen anymore in modern music.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT PEOPLE TODAY WEARING BLACK SUITS ? ARE THEY ATTENDING FUNERALS DAILY ? 😸
Dark shades indoors. This is the essence. Everything in this performance is razor-sharp.
Can't get enough.
Paul has that combination of gravel and velvet down like nobody else.
Autotune is in their head and if it comes out not as planned, it still works because these musicians are so versed in chord voicing. They "were not" or "they weren't," "they didn't"; a good musician can use notes the same way.
@@javierortegon23391❤
What ever the artist wants.
No autotune. Just talent across the entire stage. This is music.
Yes. This is how it was done before the kids generation came along and messed up music for good
Yes imagine. What a concept, real musicians playing real instruments and really signing. Someone should try that.

Not just a classic song... but how can Paul Carrack's voice get even BETTER with age? Amazing clip and very classy - everyone dressed nicely , playing live, and of course the audio quality is excellent.
Absolutely
I’m TEMPTED to learn this one now on piano. It’s been on the list for a while.
I'd prefer Miley Cyrus in a teddy bear onsie.
One of the most underrated singers ever, the hits he's fronted, Ace, Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics, he should be in the RRHOF..
Yes I totally agree!
Rock and roll hall of shame
@@larryrubin5150 RRHOF is a joke. Real musicians don’t value the RRHOF.
It should be called Music Hall of Fame. There are artist in there that have nothing to do with Rock.
Excellent point!!
Experiencing this classic never gets old.
This is what real music sounds like.!!
This is one of the very best songs of the 70's, the best decade of music. I was born in 1971 so grew up on 80's mostly but as I've aged I've come to this realization. Nothing hits like the 70's.
See, kids, way back when we were all riding dinosaurs and hunting mastodons for food, music had stuff like notes and lyrics that were sung and it was played by talented people called "musicians". I'm not making this up.
Well said
Also, we listened on these things called Radios, Record Players and 8-track players, wow
👌🎼 And they even had a melody and everything ! 🎶
Amen Bro!!!!!!
Right. We were dodging dinosaur shit but the tunes and mushrooms were the bomb.
As a 25 year old stumbling upon this hammered over the weekend. I can proudly say I’ve listen to this groovy tune non stop since Friday. What a song.
We had the greatest music in that time its everlasting.
It was awesome to grow up with this music
Paul is a big singer who didn't get the acclaim he should have. Part of many hits. He's a real one.
Looking forward in spirit to the new music you will discover from decades past...😊
I came across it a year ago and keep coming back cuz it is so great. It is better than when he played it with his band in the 70's. The horns make it excellent.
Holy How Long, 24 million views. This is REAL music and great style. Love it.
The Man With The Golden Voice - the most underrated vocalist in music
I came here to say this exact thing 💯
How I agree , love Paul’s voice.

Very "in the pocket" kind of player!" I love The drummer from the "The funk Brothers" band from the 50's. They didn't get any recognition until decades later. They played as the house band for all the greats in Detroit at, Motown Records, I believe, was the name of the recording studio. Happy belated birthday, Bud! Hope you enjoyed. Im about 7 yrs younger than you. With a May birthday as well. Mid 70s I went to the local pool, as a teen. They used to play the radio on the speakers, This is one of the songs I heard that magical summer at the pool , and which I first got laid and hearing Paul Carrick, and the song from Ace fondly makes me recall that summer with joy!
Happy birthday to you I was born in 55 also Sarasota Florida
Sarasota there's were the days. Gulf and Bay. Beach Club Siesta Key. O yes. Great memories.
Oh my god let's not forget Gators back then 🤣
Best times ever … we were blessed to have this in our lives my brothers and sistas ! 😘
Everything about this is exceptional. A clear, simple version that was pitch perfect in every aspect. The gal singing backup had great tone, none of the instruments were overpowering. The drummer was excellent. Couldn't stop watching him.....he looks just like my plumber! The music we had and grew up with is still the best.
THATS RIGHT AND THIS IS REAL MUSIC THE BEST NOT THE SHIT THEY PLAY TODAY RIGHT ON MAN GODBLESS YOU.
For a plumber he has a good sense of rhythm ..
If he was a plumber at least he would turn up on time ! Given his sense of timing i mean...
The 70s were Rocks Golden years.
The most basic drumming ever.
You've gotta be over 60.
Studio musician drumming all day.
I would love to be in the middle of them just to hear the purity of people who can actually sing and play instruments.

Yeah it real when it's live.it reaches your soul....
It's just pure talent and ability.
Terrific music.....the best! And, the greatest dance music, late 60s and 70s. We have some great local bands in the Chicago area that keep this music alive.
Always LOVED "How Long", but this version takes the freakin' cake!! Paul & his band made a really good song GREAT!!!!!! Congrats congrats
It sure does
Best version yet! Still listening in 2022! One of my favorites of all time!! They don't make music like this anymore, that's for sure!!! This song is on every list that I've created.

Sharp and crisp - perfect like new!!! We have missed you Paul!!
Plenty making music like this but its not 'trending'....
@@forddriver8827 Yes, but is trending always best? I find so much joy in looking high and low for people who's talent resounds to me. Was for example, Jeff Beck ever trending? That's true of countless others. Leaves me wondering what's out there that I'm missing. All part of a bigger picture for me.
I believe "They" are making music like that. It's harder to find. No amazing FM stations or no MTV. I like Ed Sheeran, he was once unknown. My point is there's always hope.
This is ridiculously Outstanding. I have no other words, that I should say in public ;p I'm 59, I have been Obsessed with this forever!!🤩

By far one of the best singers England has produced.
The drummer is exceptional
There's a circumstance in theatre where one player "up stage" of others gets all the focus. As terrific as Paul Carrack is, that drummer inadvertently upstages everyone.
Drummer would not be on video with Paul unless otherwise..lol
That's Barnsley's own Dino Dukes.

I am back in the summer of 75 listening to this. What a summer, full of new beginnings and new adventures with old and new friends. I was 16 and full of life, the 70s were the best.
Hi Nancy I was 15 I know what you mean.
75 was great…great music great times …being 13 and loving life with no phones laptops and no social media
Actually the times sucked ..getting information was hard ..no cellphones...no gps...no internet...I'd come home from school and only soap operas were on tv...meeting girls was hard ..but the music was superior
This is a great song that came out when my head was into heavy metal,Now I have aged enough I can appreciate music with depth ❤️
Paul Carrack is all that and a bag of chips, and a 1970’s quality Coke. I love hearing his voice in all of the groups he’s been part of (and in his solo days). Talent galore. Unlike the tripe that’s considered top 10 hits nowadays. Yep. I’m old and have had the privilege of listening to real music made by real musicians and singers. Those were the days, kids.
one of the most underrated vocalists ever....

Yes as a singer myself you get more depth of feeling in your voice from life's experiences.
Paul Carrack possesses a voice that transcends the boundaries of time, a captivating instrument that has remained a well-kept secret among those fortunate enough to discover his musical prowess. In the annals of musical history, his contributions stand as a testament to both his immense talent and his undeniable impact on the industry.
Despite his unparalleled artistry, Carrack has often resided in the shadows, overlooked by a world that seems to have underestimated his brilliance. It is a disheartening reality that so many fail to recognize the sheer magnitude of his musical gifts. Yet, for those who have had the privilege of experiencing his soul-stirring melodies, there is an unspoken understanding of the true depth of his genius.
Carrack's vocal range effortlessly navigates the realms of passion and vulnerability, seamlessly infusing each note with raw emotion. His delivery possesses an innate ability to touch the hearts of listeners, evoking a wide spectrum of feelings that can only be ignited by a truly exceptional artist. From his early contributions to the bands such as Ace, Squeeze, and Mike + The Mechanics, to his remarkable solo career, Carrack's voice has remained an enchanting force that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
One cannot help but wonder why the world has failed to acknowledge the greatness of Paul Carrack on a broader scale. Perhaps it is the elusive nature of his persona, the absence of flamboyance that often accompanies mainstream success. Or maybe it is the fact that his artistry does not conform to the fleeting trends that dominate the airwaves. Nevertheless, it is abundantly clear to those who have truly listened that Carrack is an unparalleled talent deserving of far greater recognition.
So, who else shares this sentiment? Who else has experienced the ethereal beauty of Carrack's voice and found solace in the transcendent melodies he weaves? To them, his music serves as a refuge, a sanctuary in a world often plagued by mediocrity. It is a bond that unites souls and transcends the limitations imposed by popular opinion.
In conclusion, Paul Carrack's voice is a gift to the world of music-an instrument that resonates with an authenticity and depth that is nothing short of extraordinary. While the masses may overlook his contributions, those who truly understand the power of his artistry stand united in their admiration. May his melodies continue to grace our ears and hearts, reminding us of the timeless beauty that can be found in the voice of one of the most underrated musicians of our era.

"Some adults and kids" today are trying to kill the messengers of the past. Then after the messenger is silenced, they try to be more than the past, but they don't realise that they have become the new past soon to be forgotten. Why? Music is not a noise with misplaced random sounds. Have you ever heard a spanish person speak so beautifully as they roll one word in to another, or a frenchman, englishman, or asian music put to a classical dance. Well if you have then you know that they didn't kill the messenger, they became a past and present, messenger for the future. They listened, studied, and evolved to say more with the same language. Music is such a beautiful language when communicated well. THANK YOU PAUL CARRACK & ENSEMBLE...that was handsome, stunning, so beautiful!

So refreshing to see real musicians performing
Nothing breath taking but so solid and musical. There was definitely a synergy with them all playing their parts so cleanly and not trying to compete with each other. So much "space" in this song and arrangement. You could hear every instrument so clearly.
