That thing came loose awfully easy, perhaps there was a bit of pre production preparation? For some reason, I doubt that I will be as fortunate with my 1998 Dodge.
When I replaced my fan clutch on my Trailblazer I made a simple tool to hold the water pump pulley in place. I used a piece of flat metal stock. I think it was 1/2 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick, by probably about a foot long, but I do not remember the exact length. What I did was drill holes in each end of that metal bar, fasten one end to the water pump pulley by removing one bolt and reinstalling the bolt then fastening the other end of the rod to one of the alternator mount bolts. That pulley could no long move at all. Then I proceeded to loosen and remove the fan clutch.

Broke my tensioner doing it this way lol mine is stuck stuck on water pump also ripped the belt wish mine went this smooth done them dozens of times but this truck it's brutal
