  • In this video we put the super game improvement Stealth HD up against the 'no help' P7MC to see what the differences really are in performance and forgiveness...
    And we even match the lofts to make it a really fair test!

    oh to be able to swing a 7 iron at 96mph! Great that you did the slower speed comparison for us mere mortals.

    Great video 👍🏻
    I’ve seen a few of these loft match videos now, most testers find the same. Ie a degree more launch and on occasion a tiny bit more ball speed.
    Much more interesting than most UA-camrs that just regurgitate the marketing spiel and cliches!
    In reality I think all the tech in irons adds up to very little in results.

    Did not expect there to be more of a difference. I play with blades and everyone always says they are harder to hit/less forgiving. Maybe true to a point, but at my level I don't notice it and hitting CB I get essentially the same outcome. Comes down to looks and feel for me. Great attention to detail on standardizing lofts and shafts. Those distance irons go longer normally because they have stronger loft.

      Great comment and imo so true. I’ve played with blades since 18 handicap and I’m now playing off 2. Took me nearly 2 years to get here but I feel my ball striking got better with blades and to echo what you said I can hit anything crap if I don’t hit it well. 100% a looks thing and also I like weak or traditional lofts 👍🏻

    Great video - and my experience too - just feels like a myth that blades are hard to hit. Actually can be easier if you get more precise feedback on strike (obviously that's a benefit that comes through practice, not an isolated shot) and the turf interaction is better

    Such shocking resukts! I recently bought a set of Stealth HD irons for my mother-in-law, will try to have her test it against a traditional cavity back and see what it is like for her swing speed.

    Very interesting. Thought there would be more difference. I may need to do my own test before getting a more forgiving iron.

      Loft is always one of the biggest factors of how an iron will perform. And yes the difference in forgiveness between most iron types is 100% less than most would imagine

    Good test. Draw bias means more hard pulls and hooks for me. P7MC was impressive at the same loft.

    i think if you put a good player on either one there won't be much of a difference. Put a true high handicapper amateur and you'll see more pronounced differences.

      But you're a class a level fitter and great player who hits a sweet spot size of a dime. What about a high handicapped missing sweet spot. Maybe then the difference.
      I know for a fact I'm a low HDCP have me hit a blade even slightly off or a thinner smaller club I'll lose a big amt in lost distance and accuracy.
      Get someone else to do this not you we aren't learning much.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  4 місяці тому +1

      I do agree to some extent, however a big part of this test is launch conditions. From a less consistent player you just won't get consistent enough strikes to show the real difference in those parameters unfortunately. Plus the whole forgiveness thing really isn't as pronounced as you may think. I recently did the blade Vs Game Improvement test using a mid handicap tester, go check it out 👍

  • @truthofthematter2892

    Seems like you were able to put a more centered strike on it with the Stealth's. It could be a difference in swing weight. The Stealth heads are a bit lighter than the P7MC's. Heavier heads will also cause more shaft deflection at impact, resulting in a more inconsistent impact location.

    I got a set of the HDs because I love the shallow club face. I didn’t like how deep the face was on stealth and qi10. To each his own

    I play the older P7MC and they are great for forgiveness for the type of iron they are aimed at. People body swerve them used, but if they tried them, they'd change their minds for sure.

  • @hbyrdut

    I see a lot of guys hitting level to even a little up at the slower swing speed. I would like to see what results you would get with a shallower attack angle, especially spin.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  9 місяців тому

      Pretty much always a shallower delivery generates a higher launch and lower backspin ball flight. Would these heads compartively be any different with a different delivery. Maybe very slightly but I don't think much would change in terms of the differences between them. Overall the launch conditions would just change based on the delivery 👌

    How do the two heads compare in terms of ease of shaping the ball trajectories?

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  6 місяців тому

      The Stealth is definitely easier to hit left 😂 that's about all I'd say really. Being able to shot shape is all down to the players ability to shift path really. I don't really buy into the theory that some heads are easier to shape than others. All down to the skill of the player 👌

    Given the same swing speed, ball, and shaft, the spin and distance are determined by the loft and smash factor, doesn't matter what head you use.

    Interesting when you think how much R&D must have gone into Stealth HD for what result? Marketing?

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  9 місяців тому

      Yeah I mean we all know the industry is heavily led by marketing unfortunately, and they have to have a story to sell otherwise people don't buy. I've no doubt all the R&D does go into these clubs to try and make them the absolute best they can. But the reality is within the confines of what is allowed and also what is possible, there's only ever going to be so much they can do. But the more tech stories they have the more likely they can sway people away from other brands and grow their market share. And Taylormade are the best when it comes to tech stories.

  • @rlbjr
    @rlbjr 9 місяців тому +1

    Why not just use the same stock lofts instead of bending which changes bounce and offset? The HD 7(30*) and 8(34*) irons are the same as the MC 6(30*) and 7(34*) irons.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  9 місяців тому +3

      I'd say a more accurate test using both 7 irons and tweaking to the same loft because of head weight and shaft length. You'd have to extend the 8 iron in the MC half an inch to match length which would increase swingweight by around 3 points which would have more of an effect than bounce/offset changes.

    I think if a high handicap golfer were to do the same test the results would be different. You don’t miss the sweet spot like they would.

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  7 місяців тому +2

      I dunno, I definitely miss the sweet spot 😂😂😂 and yes that may well be the case but I'm just trying to showcase actually these clubs aren't as different as many people would think when it comes to forgiveness and even performance when at the same loft. That is apparent in a test where you can quantify all of the variables such as strike, speed ect. I have done this with many mid to higher handicaps and the data sets would surprise you

    • @epgolfstudios
      @epgolfstudios  7 місяців тому

      You could well be right. I think the big test was how does 2 completely different iron designs perform when at the same loft and also interesting to see drop off on mishits. Regardless of ability we all hit bad shots. I personally think the marketing does have players a little brainwashed when it comes to forgiveness. There isn't as much in it as people would think when you actually can measure and quantify bad hit Vs bad hit in a controlled environment

      I’ve just started playing the P.7MC as a 20HCP. I can hands down so they are so much easier to hit than originally though, and forgiveness is as good as my “game improvement” cobra speedzones. I feel more confidence hitting the MC as I’m forced to concentrate on the swing/strike more
