i have the regular Stealth irons and LOVE them.....as i get older ( 58 ) will for sure have these HD's on the radar.....great review Andy......cheers
Good to see an older man test these out. Can you do a comparison between graphite and steel shafts and their weight?.
I have a full set of TaylorMade HD irons and I've been using them for about 2 months. As a senior (leaning more to geriatric) golfer I have found them to be a great confidence builder. From a 3 iron down to the pitching wedge I cannot fault them, they pick-up easily in the semi rough as easily as from the fairway (I haven't mastered the sand wedge yet). If any golfer has a physical problem like arthritis in the fingers or lower back problems (like me) I would encourage them to look at these clubs and seriously contemplate them. I am new to your channel and like your delivery style, well done.

Perfect type of video! This is my favorite type of content because it is most relevant. I love it when you are testing and comparing on the course, because that gives me the best feedback as I look to make a purchase. I am considering by either the stealth hd, the cobra t rail hybrid irons or the Cleveland halo hybrid irons. I'm definitely looking for graphite shafts possibly because I'm definitely looking to go lighter to increase the swing speed. Let me know your thoughts on those 3 sets because you've tried them all. Thank you again for your down-to-earth and kind demeanor
Really timely video, as going for a fitting in a few weeks and these 2 are on my list. Prefer the look of the Ping but want to swing both and see how they perform in my hands !
Going for a fitting tomorrow. I have the Ping 410's but at 67 years old I am slowing down. Plan to try both models of clubs. Love your videos keep up the good work.
I'm not ready to change out from my P790s yet but at my age (55) I am probably getting closer to these kinds of clubs and probably will be looking at something like the Stealth HD or 430 as I get older. I hit the Stealth HDs at the shop on a lark and was pretty impressed with the consistency of the clubs. I'm not a terrible ball striker but like most amateurs I don't always find the middle of the club and there was minimal dropoff on slight to mildly offcenter strikes. Since my swingspeed has dropped as the age and back injuries have taken their toll this kind of ability to compensate for my humanity will make the game more playable.
And the goal of golf is to have a good time. These clubs may not look 'cool' but if they help you get the ball into the hole they are worth the investment for sure.
Look at getting some lighter graphite shafts if you haven't yet. They'll help you get some of that swing speed back with less effort. I switched and don't have a particularly slow swing speed and love them.
G430, just hit them and was surprised how forgiving they were compared to others. I am a 15 handicap and some folks say I should be playing a better club but I dont miss them very much at all. Only one I found to be close was Srixon ZX4s.
Andy I believe starts his traditional iron set at 6 iron. Replaced top of big with hybrids. Why? Easier and fun. But to do the whole set is just crazy! Who would do that! Someone who wants to score better and have more fun….⛳️🎉 I game the sub 70s 799 set. 5-pw. So much fun to play. I’ll never go back to traditional irons. But I will say I would love to see the TM Stealth HD in person, they look like something I would game! Great way to start my day! Ty for another great video⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm a 69-year old high handicapper (or that's where my game was left off about 8 years ago when I last played), and I'm seriously considering the Stealth HD. A relatively slow swing speed and lack of torsional flexibility have kept my distances down as I've gotten older, and I've always struggled a bit to hit cleanly and squarely, especially as I get near the end of a round and tire a bit. I learned the game back in the '70s on a set of forged blades - Walter Hagen Haig Ultras - and though they were great clubs, I was never good enough to get the most out of them. So when "game improvement" clubs came around, I bought some - a set of Wilson Staff Di7 irons - expecting miraculous changes, but they didn't really feel that different, and I could never really get comfortable with them. Now, with retirement approaching, I'm thinking of getting back into the game, and I went to a local golf superstore and tried the HDs in one of their test bays. I hadn't swung a club in years, and I'd never swung one in a simulator, which was a little off-putting, but right from the start I was hitting the HD 7-iron straight, if not appreciably longer than I expected. But more to the point, it felt supremely comfortable, just hitting this thing over and over off the deck (another thing that I've never been comfortable doing). I was actually ready to buy a set, but the sales guy said I should put it off until I get a little more real play under my belt after such a long layoff, and then let their fit specialist look over my swing to help decide whether or not the HD is the best thing for me. I guess I'm OK with that, though I was disappointed to go home empty-handed. Because on paper, and in the simulator booth, these things appeared to be just what the doctor ordered.
Going for a fitting on Thursday for some new irons. As a mid handicapper of 61, will give these a look Andy.
Andy another great review, and love the side by side comparisons. I may offer that yes both forgiving, but with Ping’s legendary quality and customer service they have an edge in longevity as well. Love the loon of the course there as well. Be well!
The Stealth HD is very reminiscent of a club that PXG had several years ago. In fact, I believe that Bob Parson’s was gaming it at that time. While I thought the club was a bit odd looking, I loved the playability it offered while trying it out during a PXG fitting. My guess is that most mid to high handicap golfers would also find the playability of the HD’s better than most super game improvement irons. However, many will overlook them due to the looks or perception that these are hackers clubs, which is a shame. (The same reason people won’t use a chipper or draw driver.) Great video Andy…..hopefully, this video will make people add the HD’s to their “must try” list and make the game a little more enjoyable.
As an older slow swinging newcomer to the sport with very little but increasing competence and more swiftly increasing enthusiasm, I'm carrying a set of Ping G425's (SR, graphite), complemented with Cleveland Smart Sole 4 G and C wedges. I'm basically pleased with the set but then the questions arise: what about Ping's new HL version of the G430s geared to slow swingers and are either flavors of the 430s worth upgrading from the 425s? (Maybe you'll have time to take a look?) As to the HDs, though their nod towards Cleveland's approach of using wider soles is intriguing, at the end of the day I favor Ping's more "classic" look.
I don't know that I would consider either of these irons for myself, but at least the TaylorMade HD has the design similar to my sandwedge. I currently game the Cleveland Smart Sole 58-degree and do love the wider sole for cleaner (easier) strikes. While not for me, I would not be embarrassed to have HDs in the bag.
You really do an amazing job with your videos. Thank you so much.
yes the main review I have wanted to see I love the look off the ping g430 but I whud go for the stealth hd
Both are on my list to try, but I might lean toward the ping 430s
Coming from steel shafts i500 and went with the graphites G430 .. Golf is even more fun now .. just great sticks
Hi Andy. Great video again, always so informative. Just something to note recently, your audio is dropping out a little bit at times, and was more noticeable in your last one with Lewis. Hope this doesn't offend in any way.
Hey Andy. I’m in the market for new irons this spring and I would like to think everything is on the table - if i can just check my ego at the door and try those TM HD’s. Thanks!!
“Is forgiveness what you pray for before a round”, is such a great line
Thanks for the demo! Cheers from Texas.
Just ordered a set of G430’s. Hopefully get them before the weekend. Don’t think i could get used to the looks of the TM HD
You like them?
The top-line of the Ping looks freakishly thin if you hit the Stealth HD first. I had a fitting and hit LaunchPad, Stealth HD, JPX23 HL and THEN the Ping. I immediately feared the Ping.
I'm going to pull the plug on irons this week. Still no idea which. From the fitting the LaunchPad and JPX23 HL gave me best numbers. Loved the confidence standing over the ball with the Wilson LunchBox BUT the JPX23 HL is aesthetic goals for me.
FML
I have not tried the 430 but they would probably scare me also. I got fitted for PXG's a couple of years ago and hated them because even though they were game improvement they looked like a blade.
Andy I enjoy your videos from here in the States. Where are you located in the UK as the course is so green for this time of year?
Just got myself some Stealth HDs , love them , already seen improvement in shots , clubs feel lovely too
G430 for me, tried em and loved em. The 7i I put against my current 6i the ping, the430 flew past the 6i on like for like hits
How do they compare to PXG 0211?
HD order, tested so thought why not give them a go. Wish me luck. Thanks for review put my mind at ease also ha
have fun with them...keep us posted...cheers
I tested both of these out today. My average club speed is around 90 and i noticed the distance on the 7 irons was 20 yards less on the Stealth HD, then the ping g430 irons. Love the turf interaction aspect of the stealth HD because I have a steep attack angle and sometimes duff my shot or get toe stuck in the turf. Question is should sacrifice 20 yards for the extra turf interaction forgiveness because of the soles. Did you notice any gapping issues in any of these 2 clubs you tested?
You swing near tour average. The distance on these would be ridiculous for you. You'd need about 6 wedges!
The big question I have is how do these match up with the Cleveland Launcher???
I would have thought the TM HD irons were more directly targeting the Wilson launch pad/ Cleveland launcher HB type of market vs the Ping G430. That to me is more the standard Stealth iron no?
Hi Andy been thinking of the Cleveland Halos or something like the TM Hd as you tried both which is easier?
Review video out next week! 👍
The TM Stealth HD remind me alot of the older Adams hybrid irons.
I did a fitting a week ago with both these irons. I'm a high handicapped golfer who really hasn't played much since high-school (20 years ago) and is finally getting back into the sport. I found the pings to be less forgiving than the stealth HDs but still miles better than the old set I currently game. Needless to say, I have a set of the stealth HDs on order from Taylormade and I'm praying they make it here in time to play this coming weekend.
As a nice happy follow up to this, the clubs came today!
Good stuff, thank you for sharing, sir.
Those Stealth HD irons really intrigue me! At which iron do you start to see the back sticking out when the club is down by the ball?
All of them
@@davidgroom9667 ah ok, thanks 👍
I would be quite happy to have the G430's in my bag, but I would really struggle to game the TM offering. They are far too odd looking even though I am undoubtedly in the demographic that TM are aiming at with these clubs
Thank you for this one!!!!
I got the Ping G430 ! I could not
get used to the look of the Taylormade Stealth HD.
I just got the G430 irons, I have had many PINGs, but these are the best ever and most forgiving, even without being ugly
Andy, have you had a chance to hit the G430 HL irons ? Lighter head, lighter shafts and light grip, all for slow swing speeds. Plenty of reviews for the G430's, not seen any for the G430 HL. These should be the ones to be comparing against the Stealth HD
I am trying to get some samples Melvyn
@@TheAverageGolfer thanks for the reply Andy that would be interesting for us older arthritic 75+ average golfers who need all the help they can get !
@@melvynrobinson7479 I think it’s a really interesting range
Yes. They perform amazingly well
Highly recommended, I am delighted with mine!
Don't think the TM stealth iron would find there way into my bag based on looks alone the pings however are a different matter good looking and with pings renowned customer service they are a definite consideration
I like the g430 looks, still a little chunky but I could play them
Buying Stealth HD’s tomorrow 🎉
Considering both of these, looking for more spin and height to decrease the gap between carry and distance. Right now 20 yard difference
I got a fitting today and I tested both of them and I picked the Ping only because it looked better when addressing the ball
Yep I get that
I think I prefer the look of the ping g430?
I'd consider the Ping over the Taylormade because of Look, but both are too expensive.
Looking at the p430 for 2024
The difference between praying in the church nd on the course… on the course you really mean it!
Going with Stealth HD and putting the 400 dollar price difference into new bag and putter.
I would consider both of these irons, but since I am only going to play an 8 iron as my longest I am going with Ping. The Stealth in long irons is an idea but the original Stealth 👎. No combo set!
BOTH ARE GOOD CLUBS. NEED TO CONSIDER VALUE AFTER TIME. THE PINGS WILL BE WORTH MORE IN THREE YEARS.
Your caps lock is on
Opinion based or data based re-sale? Last time i looked, Ping 425's have the very most sets on Re-sale in almost all 2nd Swing websites. No one wants them.
I wasn’t able to produce a significant difference between the two sets when I went to purchase mine, so I went with the Pings. The TMs are just too bloody ugly.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though. 🤷
Hi Andy, can you do a what you have in the bag for 2023 please 👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i was a ping player for 30 years and tried the 430 and i did not like it nor the taylormade stealth so dont buy before you try
To each their own - I think I want what my swing deserves . . . train harder is what I do!
Cant handle the super large head on the Stealth HD.
The Stealth is going more for the Cleveland and Wilson clubs. I don’t see the TM and Ping clubs in the same category. Yes the Ping claim to be forgiving, but the Stealth are for beginners or high handicapped. Great review but seems to be comparing clubs from different categories.
Not sure I agree Rod, many golfers who are considering either of these clubs will be considering both as an option 🤷♂️
Hmm do either forgive a duff?🤣
Cost. Cost. Cost.😜
why the disdain on game improvement irons? belittled by purists.
most aren't at the level where you can rock, blades from the early 70's.
im not gonna sh.t on improvement irons I think all ppl need em.
FARGIVENES RORY FARGIVENES
Ping all day
Didn't prove much to me. Disappointed.
I'm not into the looks of those Stealth irons.
How can a hacker like this tell golfers how good golf clubs are I play off 2 and wouldn’t listen to this fool go too your local pga pro and get fitted for the best clubs for your swing 😮😂
fwiw...there are more than a few videos from teaching pros that have given the same review on the remarkable stealth hd irons on youtube.
@@michellereed7303 you said it yourself teaching pro not a hacker. 😂didn’t doubt the clubs just wouldn’t listen to the guy swinging them
@@briansmith7576 but a hack should, right-?
@@michellereed7303 no you should listen to a pro before any hacker
@@briansmith7576 Dave Pelz can't break 90...most teaching pros do not know crap about club-fitting, most club-fitters on tour do not sniff a single digit hcp.
