Veterans in Blue 2017 - Jonathan Klein (former Captain, USAF)

Jonathan Klein earned his commission from the Air Force Academy and became a nuclear and missile operations officer. He served 242 days on alert with the 742nd Missile Squadron at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. After Klein separated from the Air Force, he opened his own restaurant. As a nuclear missile combat crew member, attention to detail is critical to mission success, and that attention to detail played a vital part in Klein’s transition to being a business owner. “As a nuclear missile operator we had to pay attention to even the smallest of things,” Klein said. “Having that helped me prepare my business as I am both an owner and operator. I am able to focus on all aspects of my business and watch it grow.” Today Klein is able to enjoy success as a restaurant owner and he credits it to his time in the Air Force. “Being in the Air Force, you understand all too well the sacrifices needed to get the mission done,” said Klein. “Having made some of those sacrifices when it came to being underground in the missile silo on alert made me truly appreciate what I had.”
