I was a MFT at 532SMS at McConnel AFB for nearly 5 years. Home site 532-1. We did things a little different but heard a lot for SkyBird!! Brings back many memories, was on alert in 1979 when we did that sequence for real, BVL, Keys the whole thing. Talk about making you pucker!

Just watched the sequence, a little PTSD there, gave me chills. Looks like the T.O. racks were taken out since the last time I was there.

Pretty cool to see! Does anyone know if they had fake "practice" launch alarms from time to time? I wonder how they could ensure sure that the crew would turn the keys when the moment came.

Do a little research about 1979. After we were standing there wondering if there was a tomorrow, my deputy turned to me and asked "what would I do if he didn't turn the key" I responded "I'd shoot your ass and turn it my self" he was pleased that I provided him that information and we went on.

@@neat383 I could find something about a false alarm in 79 due to computer error. A training scenario was inadvertently loaded. Is that what you are referring to? And may I ask how close you came to a launch?
