AF Vet truly moved. General Silveria, Starting at 18 years old, I served the Air Force honorably from 1986 to 1995. There I learned about leadership, about how the Air Force becomes your extended family while serving. I learned about how people become friends, learn to love, marry, and have children with others from all parts of the world, from all races, from all belief systems. Our backyard barbecues in base housing at Dyess AFB were models of an integrated society of all types of people marrying all types of people, and it was very cool. I left the Air Force and I never forgot what that looked like. I never forgot the EXAMPLE that the Air Force set for me, and it became a permanent and powerful foundation for how I see others and the value of treating each other with dignity and respect. It drives me to reach out and connect with others in ways most people don’t seem to be able to do. I am not an emotional man, but I was overwhelmed with the leadership you displayed, and that you demanded every other leader under your command to be an overwhelming component of your messaging that day. You brought me to tears, tears of hope that our foundation of tolerance is still intact and still being taught to future leaders. I wanted to personally thank you for publicly and resoundingly delivering your zero tolerance, “get out” message. I felt compelled to personally contact you, to find a way to reach out. Just as our military must always proactively remain strong to keep our nation safe, so must our leaders remain strong to protect those that are vulnerable, that are different, that are unjustly treated. I also watched a follow-on interview with you, and again watched you stay on message even as reporters tried to take you off topic. Bravo. My pride in our country has taken quite a few body blows in recent years. You restored more hope in one speech than you could know. Thank you for your words, the way you said them, and the way you meant them. Tim Jones, USAF Veteran, 1827th Engineering and Installations Squadron, Kelly AFB, and 96th / 7th Communications Squadron, Dyess AFB. I hope you are able to see this, because I want you to know messages like yours reverberate decades after they are spoken. Your message stands on its own, stands over time, and stands tall.

So, it turned out to be a hoax. This fiery speech, given to cadets, forced to attend, caused more divisiveness. This general seemed oblivious the recent false flag racial incidents. He was fooled by the hoax. Why, because he wanted to believe that it was true.
rick leonard Apparently not.
"The appropriate response to a horrible idea is a better idea."
So instead of quickly casting dispersion that the white cadets are "racist" without evidence. Horrible Idea. You actually investigate and find the fact that the perpetrator was one of the "targeted" black cadets trying to curry favor. Better Idea. Practice what you preach, Lt. Gen. Not much of a moral compass here.
Someone is a sucker! The racist graffiti was written by one of the so called victims.
And someone, namely the black who perpetuated this hoax in hopes of stirring up more hatred of white people, has no moral compass.
The blonde on the right like yeah that's my general her eyes tell you just how proud she is to have a general like this great man
This is indirect contrast to what colonel Woontan and General Brown just said. He said there are too many white officers in the Air Force.
A hoax.
Thank you for being a LEADER. This is what Donald Trump should had stated as a so called leader in our nation.
LEADER has lots of blind followers it seems
Jay Silveria for President!!!!!!!
Yes !!!! Jay Silveria for PRESIDENT. Let's Do It NOW!!!!
Of the global hypocrites alliance?
Please do NOT let this gullible general anywhere near the oval office. The entire incident turned out to be a fake.
His response was genuine, and the problem he addressed is real...so it doesn't actually matter that the incident which inspired the reaction was fake.
Amen
I can't get enough of hearing this, this guy nailed it *salutes*
He fell for yet another hate crime hoax. That was discovered soon after his rant. Where have you been? Under a rock?
Me too!
Hoax
Thank you sir for allowing God to use you the way that you did.
Karen Alston AMEN and AMEN
Karen Alston Spokesperson Lt. Col. Allen Herritage told The Gazette in an email, “We can confirm that one of the cadet candidates who was allegedly targeted by racist remarks written outside of their dorm room was actually responsible for the act,” adding, “(t)he individual admitted responsibility and this was validated by the investigation.” Turned out this was another fake hate crime.
And you need to start using your brain to think, very easy to spot out hoaxes.
People are saying god is using Trump too lmfao
A black cadet confessed to staging it because he was flunking
Exactly, and the "leadership" jumped to the media....
@@suziepeaches321 You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I have old military socks that have more time in service that you've probably ever had. Next, your statement has absolutely no data to back it up. Lastly, any action based on a malicious hoax shows the lengths to which those who will attempt to claim some general "racism" is lurking out there. Are there individuals that are racists (of all backgrounds)? TO be sure. And those found are quickly ushed out the door.
This is how you start a movement of peace. By calling out racism and refusing to allow it. He wasnt asking he was demanding that people who want to be racist pricks to leave. I hope this video is played for years to come to remind everyone how people should treat one another. Than you sir for being an amazing human being and for standing up for what is right
Christian Ramirez AMEN
Now that the black supposed victim of racism has been shown to be a lying racist, will you call him out?
A false claim of racism is no way to start a movement. But wait, a false claim of racism did work for Al Sharpton, and Black Lives Matter.
I would bet my money that he "stays silent like a coward"
+Suicide by Muslim
"I swear to God you people see fire where there isn't any."
Did you get some of the smoke from that fire in your eyes...is that why you can't see it? Here....let me rinse it out for you:
Regardless of whether or not this specific incident was made up self-victimization, the problem of racism overall is staggering. You don't know what drove that individual to write racial slurs against himself on that wall but it's quite likely that he or someone he cared about did actually experience racism of the same kind at some point (and probably consistently) in his life prior to writing it.
It simply does not matter that it was a hoax. This speech was an honest response to the racism that led to it. You didn't even hear what he said about naivety. The problem exists, and this was an addressing of that problem.
Now that you've got the smoke out of your eyes, go learn how to use them properly and shut the [censored] up until you do.
He's not playing..he speaks with strong conviction...LOVE HIM!!!
They reported this to no avail for a week last year, but when they found the person responsible they lost interest and only informally followed up. A Black cadet (name kept confidential) admitted to writing what they called the graffiti. Before he admitted to it, they called it racist slurs. They finalized the rhetoric as a "Hocks gone wrong" Lt. Gen Jay Silveria Never apologized for his verbal lashings of the white cadets, who he directed to record his lashing, as a warning. He punked out of an apology owed with "You can never over-emphasize the need for a culture of dignity and respect" Or in other words even though he was completely wrong with his premature racial judgment of his white cadets, they needed to know they will be less tolerant of white cadets.
I speak as a UK born and raised 2nd generation Indian Hindu living in the UK. This man is genuine and I salute him. I would be proud to serve under him.
he seemed very sincere. however, a lasting solution must be derived, otherwise in some few months or years we will be back to square one
What is your suggested solution for a black cadet spraying racist words on his own door?
It’s up to us.
what a gentleman,we need more pple like you General
Did you know the racist graffiti was a hoax. A black student did it. The general did not do a follow up "epic" speech about the dangers of hate hoaxes.
Give this man another star please!
Jeff: Not being racist is not exemplary and does not deserve accolades, regardless of how far Trump tries to drag this country down. Rather, it is the minimum - the floor - of acceptable behavior.
No but his handling of the situation was exemplary. He did not ignore it or try to deal with it discretely. I believe that his words were heartfelt and using the presence of the faculty members and cell phones to underline his point was perfect. That is why he deserves recognition.
Jeff, I agree equally with both you and hewakens, well said, God bless.
Thank you sir, and thank you for your service!!!
Hoax
Interestingly they determined that the language posted was by a black airman at the academy. He admitted it. He was kicked out.
Thank you General, the world needs more persons like you.
It was a hoax. He chewed all those people out over a hoax. “ take your phone out and video my wonderful self!!”
Your speech is beautiful with a simple message.
I listened to it 4 times and all 4 times it made me cry. “Love thy neighbor as
thy self.” if you can’t do this without reservations get out of the military,
because here we depend on each other. This is the only way it works because in
the military “We are all Brothers and Sisters of the same family.”
It was a hoax

@@grumpymonkeyenterprises6413 lord! This is what is wrong with people today. 10 seconds on google would tell you. However, the reporting that it is was a hoax was much quieter than the coverage when they thought it was a racist hate crime!!! Wonder why???? Didn’t fit the narrative.
I would follow this man. I heard this speech six years ago and I am still inspired by it today. This is what a leader sounds like. God bless my air force and the integrity that we hold as one of our most important values. Integrity first. Service before self and excellence in ALL that we do. Hua!!!!!
I think we're gonna be ok.
for their own sake I hope none of the black students were responsible for writing the slur on the message boards.
Unfortunately, it was one of those black cadets at the academy who did it.
you jinxed it
Jay Silveria for POTUS 2020
Hooah! He’s the best!!!
God I wish!
HOOAH
Makes me proud to have served. God bless you for standing up for what is moral and good.
Whoops. 3 star General chastises the entire Academy Corps of Cadets and........there was no racism.....Three black students pulled a Jussie Smollett and a 3 star fell for it. Then after he ripped every Cadet a new one he never apologized for it. Lesson number one. Don't be quick to judge.
It was a hoax
Annnnnnnd it was a hoax.
Racist before, Hoax later. A Black cadet (name kept confidential) admitted to racial slurs. Lt. Gen Jay Silveria Never apologized for his verbal lashings of the white cadets, who he directed to record his lashing, as a warning. He punked out of an apology owed later saying "You can never over-emphasize the need for a culture of dignity and respect"
Does it matter? It's not about the problem. It's about how to react to the situation correctly. Apparently, you didn't learn anything from this...You need to get out!
@@Yahase11 its about a hoax and the general fell for it kinda gullible for a general
@GoldenState First, you assume anyone calling it a hoax (which it was) is a bigot. Second, yes, his words were a hoax. He slandered white cadets for nothing instead of waiting for the investigation. Third, of course your avatar is California.
@@Yahase11 No, the correct way to respond would have been to wait for the investigation. He instead opted to slander the white cadets for something they didn't do.
I love this. I needed to hear this again.

As an American, who comes from a mixed heritage of African and European, it saddens me to see my fellow brothers and sisters of all creeds, ethnicities and colors being exploited and not getting the love that we all deserve. Racism is deep hate that waste God given human potential. Please join me in a fellowship of love and admiration for one another. Unite as one race, the HUMAN RACE!

Yes. Black people writing such bad things about themselves. Hoax
Yes. The black cadet should be thoroughly punished for his hoax.
So, this is what leadership sound and look like? Bravo Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria, bravo. I respect you. Thank you for your service.
Our true hero, Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria.
Turned out that the racial epitaph written on the message board was put there by a black cadet trying to stir up trouble.
Congratulations to this General for having such an attitude, holding such remarks! The USA with racism are not the USA I love! Fighting ignorance, stupidity is a daily struggle that demands everyone's commitment, whether you are a simple citizen, a general or a public man! Thanks again to this General to remind him! A white Frenchman who has always fought against racism.
Hoax. Like so many before.
It's that simple. Dignety and respect.
A lot of people say what a great leader he is...but a true leader would’ve found out the truth first before admonishing all these innocent cadets, unless the actual person that did it was there...and that person did leave!
The first reasonable comment on this long thread…
That's what I call powerful, unwavering leadership
Anyone have the link in which he gives a speech just as moving about condemning false allegations of racial harassment? You know, since it was determined that the slurs were written by a black cadet... No? ok then.
No. They were not fake. This has been factchecked after sources started saying "a black cadet wrote it". The sources came down to a far-right original source, who sought to discredit his speech.
@@hajkie No they were faked. Even left leaning sources came out and reported on it
@@hajkie you are a clown dude.
This message should be read to the police department.
Superbe. Cela fait plaisir à voir et entendre...
He said that from the heart. No reading papers no bs! Love it. May god bless you sir!
This a true leader, a true American, a true man speaking from his heart, and damn I salute you sir!
Yes. Let’s perpetuate the hoax by filming this so we can stoke hatred between races.
I served in the USAF in the 1980s. We NEVER EVER had a racism problem at Kirtland AFB. Everyone got along. No one ever put anyone else done or treated them less due to there race.
because you are a man. women are more racist than men.
Kudos to you Gen. The world needs men like you.
Idiots?? He chewed all those innocent people out over a hoax? Biden probably promoted him.
Yes indeed. Hazing racial or sexual has ABSOLUTELY NO place in military operations.
A real man with a real message! General Jay Silveria for President!
Real leaders aren't dupes. He fell for yet another hate crime hoax. That was discovered soon after his rant.
Can someone please send this to Mr. Trump and tell him to study it daily.
Unfortunately Mr. Trump can't read more than 140 signs, if he can read anything.
There is. No hope for trump and he can't read more does he care amount anything or anybody. except his wallet
D. Davis-Ross .......if you can't send it, it needs not to be sent. Personally, I think it would fall on deaf ears and would definitely not be heart felt, nor would it be possible to be in any way
"understood." This message needs to be infused. ........!!!
+D. Davis-Ross - which of the races is Trump an enemy of?
or is he an enemy to more than one race?
Yes, have President Trump watch this, so he learns how not to fall for a racial hoax. The evidence was planted by the alleged victim. The sad part is that so many people wanted it to be true, so they can maintain their victim privileges. The academy was blemished by the foolish general's speech.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - One of the black cadets allegedly targeted by racial slurs scrawled on a whiteboard at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School was responsible for the incident, Air Force Academy officials announced Tuesday.
Thank You General...wish you were our President...so well said.
Not an officer but my goodness this guy is a leader. Would love to have him as a leader.
I love a good leader!! Thank you sir!!
BRAVO ! WHAT CLARITY AND STRENGTH IN WORDS. . STRAIGHT FROM HEART ...... GOD BLESS .
God bless you Lt Jay!
Why would you be outraged by words? This is the military isn't it? Not some safe space.
I LOVE YOU GENERAL. GOD BLESS YOU SMALL STEPS MAKE BIG STEPS
An example of the leaders we need here!!!
Needed a General, Colonel, other officers to speak out. I
gave a speech in 2016, when I awarded my P.H.Medal at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. It was long past in coming. Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Thank you General!
He fell for yet another hate crime hoax. That was discovered soon after his rant. You should try staying informed a little.

I am so tired of crying. You sir are right. Thank you.
Thank you so much General Silveria. Your message is candid and candor which evolve hope. No matter how adulterated our world is. there will always be good men and women to bring us together. God bless you Gen. and your staff.

Never seen an Air Officer, so angered. It's good he spoke out. Reminds of when General Sir Mark Carleton Smith, Chief of The General staff, British Army spoke out about the sexual assaults going on. Good job sir!

Military men....period This America the military will handle their trash ...period
What an inspiring speech. I wish he was our president.
I wish he would resign in shame. He jumped the gun and hurt the academy.

Thank you Lt. Gen. Jay!
USA you guys hve so many amazing honorable, exemplary guys like him. How did that guy with full of hatred make it to the top. Respect to the General from another country. I d hve this general as my President any day.
You do know a black cadet spray painted these words? And the general reprimanded the entire academy based on a lie? That's not leadership that's cowardice and laziness jumping to a conclusion without the facts
Don't think USA is ready for someone with Italian heritage unfortunately
This message is for all Police Departments across the United States of America, too. You will not take away the values of our country, the ideal of a more perfect union that we are striving to become. Therefore, if you can’t treat someone with dignity and respect, you need to get out. Your misconduct has no place among those trying to uphold their sworn oath and duty to keep the peace.
I try to live that way, it’s hard, but at end, this foundation is what America is about! Thank you sir 🇺🇸
Yes. America is about race hoaxes.
He's serious though. I'm here for it.
Don't wait for the facts, protect that career with a CYA speech! He owed them an apology for berating all of them without facts.
