A tip to fill the holes…put some of the wood fill in a plastic sandwich bag and cut the corner. Then you can fill the hole all the way through. I use this method spackle when I’m patching small screw holes in the wall. Place a piece of tape on the inside first to keep it from squishing through. Edited to say the piece turned out beautiful. ❤
It turned out so great! I also love that you show real life - dog jumping, dropping a paint brush ect. Keeps me tuning in, in addition to your creativity and techniques 😊
That turned out beautiful, you make everything look so professional. I cannot wait until it warms up to start painting again. Thank you for taking the time to give us tips, I so appreciate the info you pass on.
You could also add some floetrol to the paint and poly mix to stop it drying too quickly that’s what I have always done, adding the floetrol allows it to act more like a glaze
Just about to start this technique on my dining table! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. And i will be using several topcoats because its a table but this is the color I’m shooting for. ❤😊
I did my table a while back with a stained finish and wish I would have done more coats on top bc my kids are really staining it up with their crafts 😅
Oh wow My daughter had an entire suite of this exact furniture. We gave away everything except the makeup vanity, which I do want to refinish. Thank you!
GORGEOUS transformation as always, Shannon !! I love that you created this finish. I've used it once & plan to again in the future ! Thanks for sharing it with all of us
Amazing transformation Shannon!! I love those knobs! by the way, when I need to plug wholes and don’t want to have to wait for the putty to dry i use a dowel and it works great after sanding the tip it’s flawless 👌
@@blacksheephouse Shannon I get them at Walmart in the craft area. They have a packet of assorted sizes or individuals I believe that the 1/4” is what I usually get, it’s tight enough to hammer it into the hole
You're awesome. I love your work. I have tried to copy it😁. I do have a request for a piece.... could you do a side table with long legs using this technique?
Potter Barn Dupe question: First, I've recently found your channel, and I'm obsessed! It looks like you have 2 different faux sausalito finishes, one where you use the ball and twine paint mixed with Polly and the other where you rugged tan paint and then apply the Java Brown glaze. They both look great, but wondering if you have a preference in the finished look
When I 1st saw your video where you mixed primer & sealer with the paint & put it in mason jars, I told a few other You Tubers and where I saw it being done. One of them said in a later video that a 'viewer' had recommended doing DIY 3-in-1 paint & it was terrible & that she'd never do it again because she had to do it all over (not naming names). I haven't been able to view her videos in the same way ever since. I just thought she was being too rude as I only thought I was helping. I loved how neat your paint cabinet looked with the lovely colors in jars. In a happier video I saw a lady brushing wet paint with a whisk broom & I commented that you used a child's broom head & she said that's where she got the idea. Should have given credit in the video. There's plenty of room out there for everyone.
Beautiful finish Shannon! You make it look so easy.. I definitely want to create a similar look! Will chalk style paint mixed with top coat work? Love your videos…
Gorgeous re-do! Watching you do the steps takes the fear out of jumping into a project.. (fearing a disastrous trainwreck or something you cant finish) I have my childhood Bassett dresser (pecan finish) that I want to place in my bedroom - been afraid to paint it cause it is beautiful ….yet outdated early american . It has a heavy poly coated top that feels like a glass finish. Question - would you treat that any different? It is wood finished but has the glassy poly coat.. please comment on your experience or knowledge of this… thanks! ❤ PS I want to do a neutral lighter tan so maybe do nothing on top? Again your comments please!
Is there another color you would recommend that’s very close to Jute and Cotton? I’m having a hard time finding that color to purchase. I also tried to find Ball and Twine with no luck either 😞 Even the Sherwin Williams website doesn’t show these two colors
That looks so beautiful! I've been looking to paint a shelf that covers my washer /dryer with that color and finish. Do you recommend I use a gloss for top coat? I normally fold our clothes on top. Thank you so much for sharing!
Also I. Now thanks to this channel, I able to reach a near glossy painted surface, with the great technic of brush first then dry roll. Thank you for this.
This video the colors are lighter and the combo is more muted than the rugged tan pottery barn finish. I like both though and they are similar but I would say if you used rugged tan on this it will be more muted. I love to experiment so maybe I’ll try it! Let me know if you do first though ❤️
I love this. I have been watching your video's and trying to decide which finish to try. I am going to try my first project on my night stands and looking for a blonde finish, would you call this blonde?
I have a funny story. Last Saturday I sanded down my headboard and dresser. Restrained it came out beautifully. This Tuesday I accidentally knocked over my diffuser, which had water and oil in it. So here I am having to redo the top again 🙃.
I did your pottery barn finish yesterday on my wood wrapped beams and post in my basement ☺️ It was a lot of work trying to perfect everything and possibly too big of a project for my first time trying this technique but I did it. I also did a matching cabinet table top and trim in the ceiling where our drop down ceiling gives us access to plumbing, there’s wood trim there, so I wanted everything to match! I’m about to do the dry brushing to add more dimension. Only thing I didn’t like was the kids broom. Often the plastic base would scuff the finish if I wasn’t being super careful then I would literally have to scrub the area with the broom or get the deck staining brush to smooth it back out so it was quite the tedious process; however it looks amazing like real stained wood. I’m anxious to see how adding the dry brushing color will change it up! Do you think I need to seal everything with the matte poly acrylic topcoat?
If you did the pottery barn finish that uses rustoleum glaze then you have to add topcoat bc it’s not durable on its own, I mean the ceiling you could skip bc it’s not being used

Shannon you find such creative ways to get amazing results! Never miss a video from you 😊

You kept it real! but haven’t we all been there? And that hardware is really growing on me to the point it is time to get some of those.

@@blacksheephouse At least you know how to fix it! Lol😉😂

Absolutely beautiful. Love watching your videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to give detailed instructions. 😊
4:26 I blinked every time the brush came towards the camera😄
Absolutely love this. Maybe I’ll try this on some nightstands I have waiting in the wings. Love your channel!
Always enjoy your channel. Beautiful work
GORGEOUS transformation as always, Shannon !! I love that you created this finish. I've used it once & plan to again in the future ! Thanks for sharing it with all of us
Hi, can I ask if you scuff sanded first?
What a pretty dresser. Love your happy personality.

I need to buy some! Do you get them at Home Depot?

You always inspire me:) I want to go paint something!! 🙌🎨
That’s a great compliment 🫶🌟
Wonderful job!
Can this. Technically. Be done to wood cabinetry. How to video if any. Anyone know of one. Thank you. Looks. Great. Love it

I have a white dresser I need to repaint.
Nicely done!
Beautiful!! My furniture has white chalk paint. Would I have to sand the wax off or just clean and go? Also, what sheen poly? Thank you!!!
Is the paint color made up of two colors: Jute AND cotton? 50/50? and then mix that with the urythane???
The knobs really give this piece the finishing touch. I’d like to order some for my dresser, can you share where to purchase them? Thanks!
Looks great!!
Beautiful finish Shannon! You make it look so easy.. I definitely want to create a similar look! Will chalk style paint mixed with top coat work? Love your videos…
Shannon, that looks gorgeous! If I were to topcoat it, what would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

If the surface is slick and shiny I would hit with some sandpaper first, even just a quick scuff sand would do a great amount for you finish adhesion.
So I won’t have to sand this white paint? I love the transformation!
I wonder if this finish would look good in gray

I have a brown wooden piece. Can I just prime to make it white, then proceed with the steps in this video? Thanks! LOVE your videos!!
Yes you sure can and I’ve done that more times actually bc most times my furniture I find is brown, but had a little bit of a head start on this one
What is the name of the paint color that you used after applying primer?
Do you have any dark wood faux finishes? I would rather paint than strip and stain. 😊
Hello dear, can I use water based primer and an oil based top coat? And can I mix them or not? Thanks❤
I so love your techniques ! I learn a lot 👍😎🐕🦺
Also I. Now thanks to this channel, I able to reach a near glossy painted surface, with the great technic of brush first then dry roll. Thank you for this.
Would this work with the color Rugged Tan that you recommend for the pottery barn finish? Are the colors in the video similar to rugged tan?
This video the colors are lighter and the combo is more muted than the rugged tan pottery barn finish. I like both though and they are similar but I would say if you used rugged tan on this it will be more muted. I love to experiment so maybe I’ll try it! Let me know if you do first though ❤️

I love this. I have been watching your video's and trying to decide which finish to try. I am going to try my first project on my night stands and looking for a blonde finish, would you call this blonde?
Im not sure, you could always make a small sample with sample size paint ❤️
Lowes doesn't have jute and cotton anymore!! 😱😭😭😭
Oh no!! I’ll have to find a match, thanks for letting know!
I called Sherwin Williams. They have the color, they said it might not be exact same shade. Their sample sizes are quarts and cost $10. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
They can still make it. They just don’t have the paint chips. I got that color made two days ago!
Hi, great video. Is this color sold in stores? Lowes online says its no longer carried. Where can I get it?

where do you get your products and what is the name of you'd colours products thank you ❤
Did you prime the whole dresser? Or just the top due to the little damage you fixed?
Do you use semigloss polyurethane? Or matte? Thank you
What paint color did you use for this piece?.. And where did you source the knobs? Thank you. Just found you!
was ist das für eine art farbe? ist die auf Acryl oder Kreidefarbe? vielen dank
It’s better to use a paint sprayer it’s faster. Then mix white with water and do the same thing.
Here I am putting my furniture back to natural
What is the name of the color? Brand and poly
Washers ….! Yer welcome!
You are very beautiful and your work is to.
I liked the white dresser better, it just needed you to remove the mirror and change the hardware and tone down the white.
You can't use wall paint on drawers or cabinets
spacers
White furniture is not dead. It is timeless.
No, don't separate the mirror!!
I still have it 😅 maybe I should give it the same finish and offer it for free with purchase
I had that exact same dresser given to me. But, it had been painted swimming pool blue. 😕
