    Thank you for doing the bottoms! I hate when I see furniture flippers not do the bottoms of pieces or the backs. Especially when these pieces are being sold for upwards of $500, I feel like a fully finished piece of furniture just feels so much more refined!

    • @theresagomez2605
      @theresagomez2605 9 місяців тому +4

      It's also gross. That's usually the dirtiest part of the piece, and if there were odors in the home, they will stay in the piece. Ew. At the very least, a single coat of primer is needed but paint completely finishes the job.

      I started flipping furniture last week. Sometimes ppl dont do the back or underside because they weren't done in the first place. Ppl don't get the hours that are put into refining some peices. You dont just sand and paint. You take all hardware off clean everything a few times. Sad and prime and paint then sand then paint and seal it. Then decoupage and seal then seal again. Paint the hardware or buy new. The paints and supplies add up. Let alone the several hours they put into them. I purchased a desk for 40.00. It took about 8 hours just to take off all hardware and clean every nook and crannies. Sand it and fix any imperfections. Then the prime and a few coats of paint. Lined the drawers and did dixibelle furniture transfers. Cleaned the pull handles and bought the perfect color of paint for them. I put 4 days into that peice and about 60.00 into it. I didnt do the back because it was made to go against the wall. So i put about 16 hours into it and spent 100 total. Needed new legs too. I listed it for 300.00. So id make 12.00 per hour if it sells. Its oak and real nice. I get lowball offers on fb market for 150. I dont do all that work for 50 dollars. Ill burn it in my backyard firepit before i give it away like that.

    Seeing some "cheap" laminate pieces get a makeover warms my heart. So many people are so snobbish about the "real wood" and scoff at laminate - when these piece usually have so much use in them once the outside gets refreshed:)

    It's true that the piece didn't need the wood strip details but adding them made it even more beautiful.

    Oh my!! I am in love with that blue and wood tone combo! The style transformation is amazing. 😍 A little tip for particle board screw hole repair (especially when moving isn't an option) - use a tiny brush and coat the inside of hole with wood glue, dip wood toothpicks into wood glue and insert into hole until it is filled snugly but not too tightly. Snip toothpicks off even with the surface and let glue dry at least 12 hours, 24 is preferable. Drill a small pilot hole before reinstalling screws. A sawdust and wood glue paste mixture works even better. Again, I LOVE this piece. I haven't watched ALL your videos, but I've watched a LOT and I think this has been my favorite transformation.

    You’re one of the best.
    BTW, the easiest way to sand those legs is to chuck it up in your drill and just spin it in your hand with the sandpaper or the medium of your choice. It’s just as fast as if it were in a lathe.
    Thank for the leg clamping tip.

    Wonderful information. I just bought a bedside table from marketplace that turned out to be laminate- I was so disappointed. A dog I was fostering pulled a piece off, I almost threw it away

    You can remove all the hardware from a project and fill the screw holes with wood filler or wood glue. After filler or glue has been given time to harden, just re-drill your screw holes. I've also found that when using glue, add toothpicks into the holes along with the glue. This gives the screws some wood to grab onto and holds better than just glue alone.

    I own a mechanic shop and I have also owned a body shop. 3M double-sided tape is some of the most stickiest stuff you will ever use. You should try it! I think you will fall in love with it for things like door handles and trim. Just make sure it's in the exact spot that you want it to be when you stick it down or you could destroy the wood pulling it back off. It sticks that well especially if you press on it. I hope it works well for you. Good luck with all your projects I wish you well!!!!!!!
