I love this. This dude could have a Netflix Stand Up Comedy Special. His delivery and tone is spot on. Great video. "This car reminds me of Kennan, you can't hurry it. Its going to do what it wants to do at its own pace. It's slow, its relaxing, its soft & cushy..."' 🤣
Exactly, this guy is a natural, and what a great sense of humor, and It helps that he's a preacher I believe, so that in itself is super-cool...Can you believe that Doug doesn't know the biblical meaning, "A Time to Reap and a Time to Sow", Nick is definitely on the right path, fortunately!!!
I'm so, so, sooo glad Doug got his wish to bring his friends/colleagues into the UA-cam world, they're all such good fun to watch, and pretty funny too. Keep it coming
I have been looking forward to this video (and series) since it was mentioned on the podcast. Nick is great presenter and one of my favourite kind of car guy absolutely insane in the best possible way...buying the cars we all want to buy but all are scared of going anywhere near. Also I'm here early to say Nick will be the winning bidder as he won't be able to part with it. We definitely need Nick, Doug, Kennan and Filippo 4 up in this thing once it's done.
This series is the start of something great! I watch Hoovie's Garage, and while nothing will replace Hoovie, this series is a great tie-in to that type of content. You should be able to drag heaps of views with this series and direct it to Cars and Bids. Also documenting the entire repair process for this car, it will likely increase buyer confidence once it does go up for sale.
i live on the cape and remember seeing this car around a ton last year, always made my day. so glad to hear that you'll be giving it the TLC it deserves
These cars aren’t as unreliable as people think. I’ve been dailying mine for years, it’s never left me stranded and I’ve always made it to my destination. Parts are relatively cheap and all of the jobs are simple to do.
I think it helps if you're willing to get your hands dirty! This one had a lot of neglected bits, but I've been surprised by how many things I've been able to fix by doing some research, ordering some parts, and knocking it out over a couple of cold ones.
I daily mine in the winter and have found the same. It makes we wonder where the reputation comes from, especially considering the Classic is so beloved, even among the general non-car-person public.
Fellow P38 owner here. Been having a blast learning to work on it. Definitely always something to be done. Slowly cleaning my 2000 HSE 4.6 up, it’s been cared for in its past lives, runs perfect, shifts perfect.. just gotta keep it lubricated.
Love your video Nick, that's a nice Range Rover, hope you can get it all sorted out, I'm sure it's going to be a fun vehicle for you and your family, but most of all, you can still turn around and still make some cash once you've fixed those minor details...you rock Nick, please upload more videos, you got a cool sense of humor, God bless!!!
When I heard the price he paid I was like huh then when he said a good one is 20k I was like WHAT😂😂cos these are so cheap in the UK one with issues is 1500 quid or 2k while a good one is 5k
I recently picked up a p36 too and doing a light restoration on it, glad to see other's are getting into the" redhead step child" of FFRR's. Funny enough I have noticed the looks. Even more people looking at it than my 996 with factory aero and muffler bypass. The p38 seems to be rare anymore and people love the classic boxy look. Excited to see what the rest of this series holds. Also what the mechanic said about the sunroof fault, I have the same error but it works fine?
8:57 - 13:30 Even your camera starts to lag and drop FPS when placed inside running LandRover. Maybe it wasn't bad vehicle by design at all... just cursed by The Ancients 🤔
As far as the seatbelt goes if you reconnect the wire, all you have to do is press the red button and it’ll silence the alarm. It’s one of the coolest features and I wish every car had it.
Just FYI-- The ABS light isn't supposed to go off until the car exceeds around 5mph. ABS Accumulator and wheel sensors are the majority of the ABS issues.
“I’m going to fix this thing with a zip tie, because I have no money. I’m also going to spend $1500 getting the wheels powder coated, because I have a strong sense of priorities.”
I actually don’t mind this, would be a cool series for all the cars n bids people to try an buy a cheap car, fix it up, and sell it no reserve on cars and bids
If it ever had air suspension, it looks like it now has springs. You’ve dodged a bullet there, the airbags, the compressor that fed them and the sensors that were supposed to keep things on the level were all common points of failure.
Press hold the roof button all the way open and then do it all the way to close it... this will set the roof for the one touch configuration... if all the other windows are set, you can close the windows by press holding the lock button on the keyfob... also the square blank space near the battery is the housing for the engine computer... at least it is on my 96 P38... Good Luck
1st P38 owner order of business, get rid of the sit belt warning. There is a cable behind the drivers seat, unplug it and no more BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP Love my P38, its the best. Borrego is one of the best editions, love it. Mine needs the hood repainted and the roof has been repainted before, clear coat failure is very common on these but rust isnt, Land Rover made really good improvements from the classic (funny that the L322 was then back to being a rust bucked. You can set the sunroof easily but I would probably not open it too much because its really hard to find seals for it, and by hard I mean basically impossible.
That is an excellent tip on the seatbelt! I’ve set the sunroof a few times, but I’ve also disconnected the battery a ton of times so I have to keep redoing it!
@@NickRoshonhaha yes very annoying to have to reset the roof and all windows every time the battery is disconnected. I tries to connect a 12v battery to the lighter to see if I could keep settings but will not work so set everything it is.
I have the same 2002 yellow P38 with 160k in mileage- I can not remember having all of your issues- does the air suspension still work? that is one of the best parts of this P38- How many yellow p38 are still alive??? Also the yellow P38 in 97 had YELLOW side mirrors- your edition had BLACK - yours has yellow stitching the 97 has yellow piping. love the video adventure.
The "EAS" error message refers to Electronic Air Suspension, which has been removed and replaced with coil springs here. You should refit it with EAS to restore its true character before resale.
Just got to the end and saw that the EAS valve block wasn't removed, just the air springs. Finding a valve block is the hardest part of replacing the EAS system, so you have no excuse now. "Rebuild" kits (just a set of o-rings) are available on E-bay and very straightforward / satisfying to DIY. Go for it!
P38 ownership: NO RAGRETS, not even a single letter.

Yes, except less ridiculousness and much more enjoyable.

Nice to see Nick presenting, you can tell he's got passion
The guts of "let me show you this thing starting as a mess, and then try to sell it to you." I absolutely adore this
So fun to see what David Schwimmer is up to nowadays!
This guy hates money
Lmao
Best coment !
Thats what my wife keeps asking me about my P38! 😆
Company money. Views will cover it. Also, he has a Murci. He's doing alright.
Well money is the root of all evil?

I spit my coffee at the "Head gaskets my Lord"

Wrong. He's today's typical limp wristed liberal faggy type.
"in a shade of yellow known as close enough" - made me chuckle

"Shade of yellow known as Close Enough" bwahaha. This dude is great. And yes, the P38 is beautiful and especially in this colour!
Fun video, interested in following along! Great job Nick!
Doug, I like this format.
More Nick please! Great addition for the channel
Why? He's too faggy
Love this kind of content!
Meanwhile in the UK these are dirt cheap BUT a yellow one would make strong money because of the movie ‘Layer Cake’.
When I heard the price he paid I was like huh then when he said a good one is 20k I was like WHAT😂😂cos these are so cheap in the UK one with issues is 1500 quid or 2k while a good one is 5k
Great video. Not a fan of Range Rover attitude but after watching the video I’m rooting for the car. Looking forward to the next installment.
More Nick on this channel please!!!
Why? He's the typical millennial bearded femmy silky boy.
"The mechanic" possibly unwittingly becoming the new Wizard or Ninja.
Hoovie looks like a whole different person with facial hair!
Hope to see more of this project, very cool P38. Would have been even better if Nicks in car video wasn’t recorded at 2 frames per second lol

Great change of pace video. Thank you.
It’s the Layer Cake car!
Oh a bright yellow Range Rover, how subtle 😂
Nick, you gotta call it The Magic School Bus. Great video 🥰
WE WANT MORE NICK!!
Congratulations to your yellow Pandora´s box :) or never-ending story :)
A starter car? This car is a finisher car! A transporter of gods! The golden god!
Now I get to see a yellow Range Rover around Encinitas 😎. Awesome project
Please more of this
Gr8 series of car fix videos, always fun!
Can you LS Swap these? I've always loved em but my coworker had one and was wondering if the 3rd engine was worth it
This is awesome. Love the color, love P38s, never seen a yellow one

Must see more. I want to see how this turns out!
Hope we have a project series in this channel too!
Stay tuned - there will be new episodes dropping weekly!
Thats the color right there, looks good from 20ft, i like the wheels for sure.
These models in that yellow were popular with celebrities in the UK and featured in the pre-Bond Daniel Craig film The Layer Cake

Ended up being a wheel speed sensor - which was rusted in place, so replaced the whole hub. It's fixed now!

Yeah this has been cool spring converted. It rides surprisingly nice!
Definitely "Big BIrd"!!
Great content!
Nick! It’s closest competitor was the LX470! Not ML55 ! Haha
Haha that’s a good point…but in my head I always wanted a ML55 (future project??). LX definitely a closer competitor!
Had a 2001 for 3 years, 2.5 diesel auto, dead slow but what a great cruiser

Man has Murcielago, 2 kids and time to play with broken cars. What's the secret Nick?
An inability to relax.
This just proves that Filipo is only guy with realistic thinking about money for normal people.
Your HVAC system has a warning light on it. Most likely blend motors.
Turns out the blend motors are fine but the cabin air filters were from the late 1900s and in dire need of replacement.
@@NickRoshon I wish that was the issue when I had a P38! Will be interested in seeing this go back for sale. Would match a yellow D90 I have
I felt like watching The Hunt for Red October when it does turns on. Good old Range Rovers.

Sell on C&B? That is an absolutely lovely vehicle to let it go 😢
Literally perfect patina
For $3500 you can have my 2002 Borrego with the factory top rack, back step and front winch guard. Mine actually runs well but needs work.
I see this car and think of Layer Cake and Kick Ass. The latter where it met a sticky end..

Yellow! Wasn't there one like this in the movie Rocknrolla? Cool!
Was in layer cake and Kick Ass where it got crushed, with the goon inside it 😐
LAYER CAKE
i like this series. more of this. maybe if i watch enough fools doing this on youtube, i will stop doing it myself....
Actually, these are known as the only land rover that does NOT rust. (Except the rear hatch on early models)
I am about to do my first oil change as a non mechanic thanks to a chrisfix video, gonna be interesting to say the least lol

What was the undisclosed issue that brought the price down?
"I would absolutely daily this" especially if I didn't have to get somewhere without breaking down.
It's nice for P38 standards but it'd be a $3,500 car max here in NC.
Not the flip flops 😂
The new Hoovies
That yellow is Layer Cake spec, I believe

Interesting jump start technique......
What an obnoxious flex with murcielago in garage
This will be fun to watch. Arbitrage opportunities do exist on auction site.
We’ve two, they are way more simple than the rep they have. If you own one…you know.
me thinking one day I may own this car... KEEP IT CHEAP :)))))
Its wild that people are scared of a live axle box on wheels with a pushrod V8 designed in the 50’s…
