"youre supposed to wipe off the excess with a microfiber towel, so every once in a while ill do that" cuts to sped up footage where he never touches the towel again lmao
Also that stuff is super nasty for skin contact and for respiratory inhalation. I don't mess with SiO2 coatings without gloves and a respirator. Also, trim has to be super clean and bone dry or it'll be spotty/streaky. Cerakote wipes offer easier application IMO.
There are a ton of videos showing how to diy fix clearcoat failure where you rattle-can spay on new clear coat and blend/melt the old with the new to great results. Within reason of course. I’m enjoying your content and rooting for you. (And cringing too. HA) Edit: I can’t believe you ceramic coated that failed clearcoat. That’s like also most clearcoating. It literally takes 2000 grit sandpaper to gently remove the ceramic coating, just to do proper paint correction. Ahhhhh!
Most problems on this vehicle seem like wear and tear and bad maintenence. I firmly believe that once someone who cares fixes them all, it's actually kinda reliable enough.
Re-clear coating the worst areas would be the only way to make it look decent. Obviously not perfect but a sand and clear coat would make it look 10x’s better
Note to self: Purchase an old Range or Land Rover when bored and looking for things to do. 6:56 - I would have bought semi gloss black bumper spray paint $15 and solvent to clean and scuff pad/ red Scott’s pad. That would last longer.
You know, I (and most others I'd imagine) would factor in a new paintjob into the price I was willing to pay for this. All this work on the paint is a bit of a waste of time, but I appreciate the dedication to making it look as good as it possibly can.

I am not fond of that pedestrian-unfriendly replacement bumper, which also ruins the look of the front of the vehicle in my view. But then pedestrians appear to be disposable in the USA given the hideously high, and increasing death rate. In 2022, they had increased by 83% since 2009.
Data from the National Vital Statistics System Life expectancy for the U.S. population in 2022 was 77.5 years, an increase of 1.1 years from 2021. The age-adjusted death rate decreased by 9.2% from 879.7 deaths per 100,000 standard population in 2021 to 798.8 in 2022. In 2021, there were 667,479 deaths in the United Kingdom, compared with 689,629 in the previous year, which was the most deaths in a single year since 1918, when there were 715,000. Although the death rate in the UK fell from 10.4 deaths per 1,000 people in 2000 to 8.7 in 2011, it has increased in the intervening years, and reached a rate of 10.3 by 2020. Tell me more about how daddy government saves you…
@@KGiustOD I will, of course, oblige. You will not like the results. The UK has an average life expectancy of 80.7 years, three more years than the USA. 2021 was, of course, a COVID year, so it's hardly surprising that the death rate was higher. It was also higher in the USA as well. In 2021, there were 3.46 million deaths in the USA, which adjusted for the five times higher population, is equivalent to 692,000 in the UK. So the death rate in the USA in 2021 was almost 4% higher than in the UK, despite the median age of the UK population being almost 2 years higher (40.6 in the UK vs 38.8 in the USA). The UK did not do a great job on COVID, but the USA did even worse. As far as roads are concerned, there were 7,522 pedestrian fatalities in the USA in 2022, which is equivalent to 1,504 in the UK when adjusted for population differences. The actual number in the UK was 385, making the average American 3.9 times as likely to be killed as a pedestrian than in the UK. Pedestrian deaths in the USA are now at a 40 year high. Are you proud of that? For road deaths in general, per head of population in the USA is almost 5 times higher than in the UK, and adjusted for miles driven, it's about 2.5 times higher. (In 2022, there were 1,767 deaths on UK roads; the USA, with 5 times the population, it was 24 times higher at 42,514 - all official government figures). Try searching for the Bloomberg report "US Traffic Safety Is Getting Worse, While Other Countries Improve". A bit more on health. A UK citizen has a a 9.9% chance of not making it to 60, whilst 12.8% of Americans die before that age. That means an American has a 30% greater chance of dying before the age of 60 than a British citizens. Now lets look at maternal deaths. In 2021, in the USA, 33 women died out of every 100,000 live births. That's twice the rate of the UK. Or what about childhood deaths. In the USA there were 5.547 infant deaths per 1,000 live births. In the UK it was 3.9 infant deaths per 1,000 live births, so 40% higher than in the UK. In fact it is quite difficult to find statistics on age-adjusted population health outcomes for the the USA that aren't worse than those in the UK or, for that matter, western Europe (who often do considerably better than the UK). The UK has longer life expectancy, you are less likely to die as an infant, more likely to make it to 60, less likely to die in childbirth, much less likely to die in a road accident, either as a vehicle occupant, or as a pedestrian (it's also true of cyclists). I suggest you look at the Commonwealth Fund (founded by an American), that compares health outcomes by country. Search for "U.S. Health Care from a Global Perspective, 2022: Accelerating Spending, Worsening Outcomes". Now I'm not claiming the UK has outstanding outcomes in all areas, but generally speaking those in the USA are the worst of all the high income countries, despite spending the most on healthcare, whether measured in absolute amounts, or as a percentage of GDP.
