"It's a good Cape Cod car" is a very valid statement. Not-so-subtle projection of nostalgia and old money at the expense of reliability is infinity percent a Cape Cod mentality.
I like how Nick covered his address with a towel like the license plate of a car in a bad listing on Facebook Marketplace. I would have preferred the cameraperson put their thumb over the address while filming, but the towel is good enough.
I like the yellow colour. Keeps owner Nick at home. Perfect “project vehicle”. Happiness is knowing a good trustworthy mechanic. He will be your new best friend, like it or not.
I bought one with under 100k miles for $12k. Straight piped it, did subwoofer and sound system, replaced everything with the brakes, unplugged the sunroof motor and taped it. next up: replace the headliner and redo the HVAC. I love it! P38 is coming back!
I love how nick smiles through every criticism and broken thing they point out. Reminds me of my first 2 fieros lol I was in denial about how bad they were also.
Ignoring some cosmetic issues, this P38 looks good and runs and drives well. I'm sure with additional work, it will look better and hopefully starts up much more often. Good video, guys.
I love my P38. Dark green, paint is trashed, bush guard on the front. Feels like driving a tank. When I drive it in NYC for work people just get out of the way since they know who would win in a game of chicken. It does require a lot of love and care though, definitely not for someone who doesn't enjoy wrenching on their own cars.
Beautiful!! These are so beautiful and that’s an awesome color. Huge Rover fan here and wow this is quite the find. Spectacular color. Dream car status
@carsandbids you need an actual production team and someone to direct these… special… individuals. Hard task, but it is a must if you want this channel to become what it appears Doug and owners want it to become.
You need to renew or remove the heatsheilds, they can catch fire if petrol sprays on them, which it has been known to do. I have a diesel 38 , they dont catch fire but the petrol ones do Heatsheilds in the engine bay on the firewall, and under the firewall running back. Also have a good stare at the fusebox in the engine bay for scorch marks. Great car I love mine. 5 years in and its a gem.
Ya, that’s cool! P38 has a small crowd of interested driver/mechanics, and several of whom are passionate about them being the last, British Land Rover designed model. Hope it keeps running for you👍🏼
@@stevenwilliams9280 apparently the best 4.6 engine was the 99-2000 model, and they had problems with casting in 2001-2004, which went into p38 2002, and Disco 2004. So, as I have learned recently, if my ‘02 p38 engine fails, I’ll look for a 99-00 block to replace it. (Ideally)
Last proper body of frame range rover. But yeah 3k maybe if you do all the work yourself, you got the 3 amigos going, if you have HG issue then thats gonna be all of it and some. Not having EAS goes against value, people love EAS because its amazing, rides much better and I bet all the examples that are 20k sitll have the EAS. Be cool to put it back. That said, excited for this series, lets go!
I've had a P38 for 11 years. It's never left me on the side of the road. It come down to people not looking after them. If anything does need attention, they're easy to work on.
Land Rover Freelander needs to be reviewed. Got so excited when I saw thumbnail nail for a sec and was so disappointed. Car was my family’s first non dog shit car and irionically only died because my brother destroyed it.
The proper way to open the door is by putting your thumb on the fixed part of the handle and pulling and it opens nicely, ask me, who grew up in the back of my dad's P38, now at 205K miles, needing a transmission-out repair lol
Right? Also there are a lot of cars with faded paint that look really good when wet. Couldn't someone do something like "wet look" hair gel, but for cars?
Sorry guys you overplayed the 'mock the Range Rover!' stuff after the first 5 minutes. Especially as at the end if the series Nick totally loved the car. As l love my 2001 P38 RR with 219,000 miles.
The world needs more Nick.
Less doug
@@vipvopvoy2350 No that's a different channel.
No, it does not. Maybe more Sam but not nick
This is a format worth repeating
I absolutely love that the British Garage was like “Nah, thanks bro.”
🤣

my mantra
just without the money
This is what the cars and bids channel needs to be
Love the driving shots where the spokes of the wheels appear to spin clockwise, and the lug nuts appear to simultaneously spin counterclockwise
I like how Nick covered his address with a towel like the license plate of a car in a bad listing on Facebook Marketplace. I would have preferred the cameraperson put their thumb over the address while filming, but the towel is good enough.
Deep Nick.
I like Nick. That was hilarious when he said the boys can borrow it whenever they want and they were all so polite about it
Nick has so much optimism, he can bottle it and give away. Great attitude.
I like the yellow colour. Keeps owner Nick at home. Perfect “project vehicle”.
Happiness is knowing a good trustworthy mechanic. He will be your new best friend, like it or not.
Last time ive been this early doug was still showing off to ladies in his 360
P38 rocks!! Lovely range that doesn’t get the love it deserves. Had one. Never left me stranded
I've been daily driving my '98 p38 for the last 2 years and I haven't had any issues except for the first week I had it. Best of luck Nick!
Good on ya Nick! We across the pond salute your initiative to keep a British classic on the road!👍🏼

Guys, the British are watching you, and this is a sacred cow in Britain, reduce the excitement a little
It is all good until Nicks Range Rover is not accepted by Cars & Bids.
Big news! This Range Rover is featured on the channel and NOT being sold live on carrrrrs and bids.
P38s are not near as bad as people think. Yes they take maintenance but mechanically pretty simple. I daily drive a 2002 and enjoy it every day.
I love how nick smiles through every criticism and broken thing they point out.
Reminds me of my first 2 fieros lol I was in denial about how bad they were also.
Vitesse Edition came in Red and Yellow.
Beautiful
This is still smarter than spending $12K+ a year in costs for Kennan's high mileage E39.
Love p38s
Such a good car
Yes hard to keep running, but the car is actually so good!
Ignoring some cosmetic issues, this P38 looks good and runs and drives well.
I'm sure with additional work, it will look better and hopefully starts up much more often.
Good video, guys.
This channel keeps getting better and better!
Layer Cake Range Rover. Other borktastic cars from the movie include the C5 RS6 and Bentley Arnage
This was a fantastic video, Nick is great!!
I love videos with Nick
Love these videos. Please do more.
Welcome to the Layer Cake
Good stuff boys! Super fun!
It's such a beautiful vehicle.
This video series is great! Nick is a natural entertaining. The interplay between the guys is very fun.

I am very excited to see how this goes and I wish the very best for Mr Nick on this undertaking!
I love seeing others buy cars I'd never buy... haha. It looks so cool, especially in yellow, but there's no way I'd buy a money pit like this.
I love this! Can’t wait to follow along.
Can't wait to see it fixed!

There has been a significant upgrade in Nick’s footwear since the last ep and I appreciate it

Cayman camera car😎
It’s a perfect color!!💛💛💛
I’ve have had a project 2000 HSE 4.6 for about a year. Slowly cleaning it up, runs perfectly since I bought it. Someone loved it in a past life.
Wow that is so amazingly not even a little interesting in any way.. this video is not at all about you

I’m a Land Rover enthusiast and thoroughly enjoy this P38 Thor V8.
Advice to Nick, buy a Nanocom Evolution diagnostic tool. You’ll thank me later.
I love it! I hope it treats you well!
I await for a Doug review of Nick's Range Rover.
Ttthhhiiisssssssssssssss, is a solid pile of urine.
That good ole first p38 optimism 😅
I see these cars increasing in value, especially after all the problems are well-documented with solutions.
18:19 Nobody gonna mention the fact that Doug just HAD to pull up in his Carrera GT to compare to Nick's new hypercar?
Ok… I love the P38. I said it. I want one suddenly.
Cool man, I have a black P38. Mine is great, but it needs a head gasket someday.
My neighbor had a tan 98 4.0. I rode in it one time seemed comfortable vehicle.
Put it in Camel Trophy livery! Its already yellow.
Land Rover Freelander needs to be reviewed. Got so excited when I saw thumbnail nail for a sec and was so disappointed. Car was my family’s first non dog shit car and irionically only died because my brother destroyed it.
Nick with the es Quattros
Reminds me a little bit on to the "Jagdwagen" of the GDR "Leaders" in the 80s.
Doug is a silly goofy guy
Doug is a millionaire “silly goofy guy”!

I bought this car and still come watch the videos on youtube
Doug’s reaction idc is the best 😂
More driving with friends please!
Need more Sam!
I have a 2001 Epsom Green awesome beast of a nightmare.
Why does this Range Rover remind me of L4yer Cake?
It just needs some Camel Trophy stickers 🤔 and steel wheels.
“This is my third or fourth car over 100,000 miles” lol I have four cars in my garage over 100,000 miles
Either Nick finishes restoring and keeps this at the end of the series or he gives up on it. HAHA
Doug should buy it
Still better decision than Kennan spending 13k a year on his bmw😂
Nice Lambo
Comedy GOLD 🤣
I can't believe no company has figured out how to fix peeling clearcoat.
Right? Also there are a lot of cars with faded paint that look really good when wet. Couldn't someone do something like "wet look" hair gel, but for cars?
This is the car of a golden god
Lol his GPS is where I am, I'm in Somerville, Arlington is by Cambridge, my boss lives in Winchester, his GPS hasn't left Boston 😂😂😂
I love that you were at Lego Land when you bought it 😂
I thought I saw a Massachusetts inspection sticker! That explains 47% of the car's problems
Please honor the Layer Cakeness of the car! It was a fun film.
If you want to cheaply paint the bonnet mat black, it would look alright. Cheap way to fix the clear coat issue
Home installed matte black vinyl and add some camel trophy stuff... you could get totally away with it cheap... and it'd look cool
So funny 😂
Nick: „All of you can borrow it any time you want“ Everyone: „Nah, I‘m good“ - That‘s harsh 😂
These guys have been price-fixing the used car market since 2019
You're going to spend sooo much money on this pit
Nice video
what kind of asics is doug wearing?
EAS Manual is shown when someone bypasses the air suspension.
Doug you are wrong about the reliability of these. I daily mine and it’s never left me stranded.

Yellow range rover from the uk film Layer cake
i wonder why they blurred his plates in the other video with his lambo, but not on this one?
Less noticeable maybe? I like his custom plate.
The gps had different CDs depending on what region you were in
Camel theme it already!
"So gas is the issue." Classic.
Every time I see Kennan i wanna adjust his shoulders ..wtf is going on with his posture
I want one of these, but I want to send it to Congleton to be restored and improved. They're sort of the Singer of old Range Rovers.
Sand at like 1500, then 3000 then reclear!
The moment when he said he can get it sorted for 3k 💀
