Might have been said already, but you don't have to spam L, you can just keep it down and move your mouse to the meshes you want to select. It may make your selection a bit less precise but in your case I think it wouldhave worked no problem. Even better with X-Ray enabled I think.
The time lapse videos aren't meant for new users. They are meant for experienced users to see topology and workflow quickly without being told what key to press every step of the way. I love them. In a few years, step by step videos will drive you nuts and you'll watch mostly time lapse. These videos aren't really tutorials and are just fun to watch.
@@DonEarl A tutorial can still be done without commentary. Just being able to watch it at normal speed counts because you can still see exactly what the person is doing

"It's got no core.... *it's just hardcore*" My brother you have just earned yourself an official pardon for subjecting the default cube to all these deformation.
IMPRESSIVE! Something as "simple" as that can take hours to be done, and you do it easy as drinking water (here we can see the difference that ears of practice can make)... Learning more from your challenges that anytime before. Thanks a lot, this model blow my mind!!!
I just finished my lava and ice monsters and I'm so thankfull, you helped me understand how armatures and animation works, as a beginner this is huge! Thank you!
Im disabled with Muscular Dystrophy. I’m often frustrated at my limitations. I love to be creative when i feel good enough to do so. Blender is free so that’s good for me since i can’t work. I open blender and immediately recognize its power, i liken it to sitting in the captains chair of a jet and looking at the control panel. Yep this thing could take me far if only i knew anything. I am a slow learner but I’m watching and re-watching your videos and picking up things i can use. It’s been encouraging. Thanks. Romans 10:9
Super cool technique this time! I was surprised to see you use cell fracture. For selecting small pieces, I like to go into wireframe and use the circle select tool, then hold down Ctrl + to expand the selection. Not necessarily better, just different.
There is nothing mediocre about your channel. You are providing great content, both educational and entertaining. Plus, you have a fun personality too. Keep it up!
Love the live commentary while speed modeling. Gives people who are interested in getting into 3d design a glimpse into the thought process and the work it takes. I went to school for graphic design years ago, I love this stuff but I learned rather quick that I enjoyed it as a hobby rather then something I wanted to pursue a career in. A video like this must be intimidating to someone on day one in blender or any 3d design at that. Anyway, love the video!
It's amazing how helpful it is to be able to see and hear some of the bindings for the modeling as it happens! Quite a few people just take the knowledge as a given as they zip on through their tutorials. Not to forget that some of them have custom bindings.
I love how mindful you are to move and make sure that your video thumbnail is not covering up important and key pieces of the Blender UI so we can follow along. Thank you!
I love the monsters, they look like they're dancing! Also, the term you should look for when looking for a place to sell your merch is "Print On Demand" which basically just means the company will print the merch and ship it to the customer as soon as they place an order, so you don't have to worry about any of it.
i thought this video is the only special one, that done a thing in 10mins, but then look at your channel. I love to create things but im a busy student that doing part time job and learning at same time, so this is so useful for me, thank you a lot.
Not a tutorial lol, this is the best tutorial ever. Quickly show a finished product in a short amount of time with all the keyboard shortcuts as well. All tutorials should be like this.
Epic epic effort with this one. Really loved this one and it's given me other ideas too. The lava guy can have fluid sim lava falling out between the rocks onto the ground, the rock guy can have rock and sand particles falling out and Ice monster can have volumetric icy clouds coming out from him.... yeh so cool, I love these monsters :)
just found your channel! I LOVE it! i really like how you say out loud everything that you're doing. as a newbie learning blender i find things like that super helpful. thanks for the vids. :)
Your 10 minutes video have inspired me to learn how to use blender, im a programmer and never had much interest in art, but im enjoying it, thank you for the cool videos! :D
I think, there are mainly two ways to react to the awe-inspiring level of proficiency displayed in this video: 1) Get a motivational kick from it to start learning more of Blender. Fast. 2) Throw a tantrum, whining "I'll never be as quick/good/awesome/... as this guy", proceeding to weep one's pillow wet. This would be the second video created by you I've tuned into. Both times I got the impression that I (Blender newbie) will learn a lot from your content and that I'd better turn off YT now to fire up Blender. The urge to start "blending" gets so strong that I hardly even finish m--- ;) Thanks a bunch for sharing!
You're welcome and thanks for your comment. I get about 98% of (1) feedback and 2% (2) feedback I think. I am glad it can help to inspire and for others to learn, I make the videos for the 98% that want to become better :)
Most excellent job there friend! I really appreciate that you say your instructions/keystrokes aloud. You have my subscription and thumbs up! You are most impressive
For finding the edges of an open face, a quick option might be: in edit mode with vertex select active, select>select all by trait>non manifold. It'll pick up any verts that are on edges that are not connected to exactly two faces, so useful in picking up holes in meshes if they need to be watertight. Also, I think if it's the only part of the mesh that's open, alt-clicking should select the loop around the missing face, so you don't need to pick the verts or edges one at a time, although that can sometimes get a bit weird, especially on non-quadded meshes (e.g. produced by decimate).
dude.. I clicked like before you started modeling. I was like this man deserves a like and maybe a follow. I'm a total 3d noob but I like to watch masters at their craft. And like in 1.5 minute there is already a cool robot! fucking awesome!
To cap everything that isn't filled immediately (if triangles are okay): 1. Select all Faces 2. Select menu > Select boundary loops 3. F to fill > Ctrl T to triangulate You're welcome :D In return I want to know how you get rid of the center faces when extruding with mirror modifier, please. :D
This is great! Specifically for me, since I have a character design, with an exterior of hard shards and an interior of soft energy, in my head and this is basically just confirmation for me, that I can indeed make that character with the method, I had already planned out. Now to just get over the good old procrastination factor and learning how to actually use blender...
I started learning Blender last Friday and have been following along with your builds and some of my own stuff.
