The incomparable Roger Taylor was/is a beast on drums and vocals. I'm In Love With My Car is also from this concert as a medley with Killer Queen. This performance of Somebody To Love is ranked the second greatest live performance with Live Aid ranked as the number one in musical history. ♥️👑🥁🎹🎤🎸
Well, if by chance you ever decide to get rid of it... 😆🤣😆🤣 if I had an altar, one would probably say I have a Freddie shrine. I have a laser cutter and I've made so many things of him. His silhouette and his autograph enlarged & cut out. It's on my Freddie wall and I never really expected it to turn out so good!
You have to know, that Freddie was an untrained singer, he never took singing lessons, but was a born talent, a self made man. He loved Aretha Franklin's early gospel style singing and taught himself the phrasing by listening to her records. This song was written as a tribute to Aretha. Roger Taylor is a great singing drummer, one of the bests, who formed his own group on the side of Queen, and he was the singer there. Pls, check out Love Of My Life at Wembley 86.
I second this suggestion of Love of My Life live at Wembley, or as I like to call it, the maestro in action. Freddie has the audience in the palm of his hand. It's an incredible performance. Two more suggestions - Who Wants to Live Forever live in Budapest and White Queen live at the Odeon. Both are hauntingly beautiful performances.
I just can’t even describe how insane this is…the build up to 8:04 from Freddie before the other three join back in…crazy good 🤯 Sooo jealous that I wasn’t around during that time period
Very nice reaction. At about the 6:20 mark in yoru video, you can see Brian May start walking towards the back. I read that he broke a guitar string and Freddie improvised to "keep it goin" in front of the crowd till he got back. You can see Freddie glancing over his shoulder towards him once he returns.
Yeah, you can see Freddie wait for Brian and say to Roger and John "do it baby, keep it going" until Brian can fix the string and walk back at 6:55 - a smooth recovery which in fact enhances the song by increasing the tension until the "Find... Me... Somebody to love" release with the crowd. Sheer professionalism and talent all round!
Incredible live performance back before there were enhancers and technology to make it sound good. True raw talent from every band member. The next "I can't believe that was actually live" performance you should do is Queen: White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. It will blow you away. Every band member is perfect on that one.
Roger is amazing in this so I love seeing people praising him because I know Freddie can steal the vocals especially here! No one performs like these guys who pushed in a radical amount of insane talent and being live feeding off each other - wow!
Few months before this concert, in March 20th 1981, I attended their concert here in my hometown, São Paulo, Brazil 🇧🇷. I was 14 years old and it was a shock. It was my very first concert ever! Imagine the impact in a teenager’s life! Since that day I’ve never had a similar impact again! To me Freddie is second to none in music history!
Something impressive about this piece is that it gets better and better, each section being marvellous. No wonder why it was Mercury's own favourite song!
Some live songs to sample: Who Wants To Live Forever live in Budapest 1986. Under Pressure live at Wembley 1986. I'm In Love With My Car live at Montreal 1981 (lead vocal by Roger Taylor) White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975. Fat Bottomed Girls live at Milton Keynes 1982. Just for starters! Love your reaction. Thanks for commenting on how great Roger Taylor is. It's hard to keep your breath control when your singing while drumming. Quite the cardio workout! He is a total badass. 👑
This is the best rendition of this song ever performed by Queen and the most perfect concert. Freddie and the rest have just delivered something so perfect. You should look at Killer Queen / I'm In Love With My Car, the second song by drummer Roger Taylor.
Absolutely phenomenal Iive performance, all the band gelled well like no other, they were all amazing musicians, and all the members have written N01 hits, One song for you to checkout is , Queen at Hammersmith Oden 1975 United Kingdom with a phenomenal live performance of the song called ( White Queen). The band has a huge catalog of amazing songs! Great reaction thanks!
I took my son to see a screening of this Montreal concert at an imax cinema last month and this song, one of my personal favourites, was a big highlight. So much love for Queen and the vocal king Freddie ❤
I saw them at Madison Square Garden in September 1980 on this tour, that show was depicted in "Bohemian Rhapsody" as Brian flew his parents over to see play for the first time. Also from this show try "Save Me" it was a new song off The Game.
Fortunately, saw them six times between the New Jersey meadowlands and New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Until you see them live, I did not realize how much piano Freddie played live, and contributed to all of the songs, and played it very well. So said, is added to the phenomenon of how good of a band Queen was.
I saw Queen in Minnesota the following summer of 1982. Same set same songs Freddie wearing his same Superman shirt. Freddie had a stage presence that was unmatched. He was clearly one of the greatest frontmen in rock history.
Before coming to Scotland I lived in Feltham where Freddie and Brian lived for a while this is where Brian built his Red Special guitar with his father and why I feel a closeness to Queen now
Great to see you start your queen journey, you wont be disappointed, they have so many fantastic songs. As a young 24 year old i was luvky enough to be in the crowd at wembley for the live aid concert that you have already reacted to and yes to witness it live was phenomenal, i intended to see them again the following year 1986 again at wembley but circumstances prevented me from being there this time but check this concert out on utube as there are so many magic moments from this concert, now as a 62 year old i still literally listen to queen every day at some point and will continue to, they really were something special and their music will live forever, enjoy.
Brian on lead vocals...Sail Away Sweet Sister...She Makes Me(Stormtrooper In Stilettos),to name but 2...Roger lead on Tenement Funster...I'm In Love With My Car...Rock It(Prime Jive)-Freddie sings first few lines on this, don't get confused!...to name but 3
I saw Queen live 1982 Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens Billy Squire opened the show phenomenal show OMG I'll forget it Freddy is Godly live oh how I miss them.🙏❤🎸🎤
Delighted you enjoyed Freddie and Queen at there very best 💯per cent you should check out the songs from the film ' Flash Gordon' all done by Queen , also check out ' Down Down ' and ' Caroline' , ' Rocking All Over The World 'by Status Quo and ' Whiskey in the Jar ' by Thin Lizzy
I love seeing folks discovering Queen for the first time!! Absolutely love it. For a very different kind of song in live performance, try Stone Cold Crazy recorded at The Rainbow in '74. It's sort of like proto speed metal a la Queen.
Dear Ola, love your reaction as always, your enthusiasm! You are really lovely! Such a phantastic live performance from Queen! Please consider to hear "The show must go on", one of the last songs from Queen, before the tragic death of Freddie! For me it is one of their best songs, representing the last part of their incredible story!
Another one to checkout Queen at Wembley Stadium 1986 with a stunning performance of a song, ( Under Pressure) see how Freddie interacts with the crowd is phenomenal!
So glad you watched this and now have it to enjoy for the rest of your life, I have been listening to them for so long as I can remember and am so glad that there is these videos to enjoy forever.
Hi Olavity, I loved your reaction to this amazing song by the GOAT's that are Queen :) it's the best version of this song at their iconic concert in Montreal in 1981. Freddie, Roger, Brian & John are on top form as always and they put in a timeless performance, not only in this song but the whole show. Queen are best live band ever, they did so many incredible concerts and I highly recommend I'm In Love with My Car (sung by Roger, while he's playing drums at the same time) from this concert, Fat Bottomed Girls, live at The Milton Keynes Bowl in 1982, Love Of My Life at Rock In Rio 1985 & Radio Ga Ga, live at Wembley* in 1986 :) I've liked & am subscribed to both of your channels, I love your reactions :) keep up the brilliant work you do. *The 2nd of 2 nights there
Queen is my all-time favorite band. Freddie is the absolute #1! 4 songs would love for you to check out…. Under Pressure, and Who Wants To Live Forever, live from Wembley, Impromptu, live from Wembley (not an actual song, but ABSOLUTELY shows off his vocal ability!), and The Show Must Go On (unfortunately, no live version, since it was so close to Freddie’s death). Also…. Now I’m Here, live from Wembley. OH… And Dragon Attack live from Montreal! Sorry. That’s a lot. But it’s all amazing!
Great reaction! If you love the drummer's voice you need to check out "Killer queen / I'm in love with my car" live version, from the very same concert! Rock on!
This is a live concert. Freddie and Roger duo is very amazing. Pure talent with no auto tunes. Please do react to Love of my Life at Rock in Rio. Thank you for your great Reaction. #lovefreddieforever
Thanks, Olavity! This is a stunning live performance.... not just by Freddie but the entire band! I really enjoyed your reaction and look forward to more.. (p.s. Brian has always been my first love... Roger totally kills it on those backing vocals, though.. really unusual for a drummer to sing while playing.. and especially that high harmony)
Drummer's name is Roger Taylor, guitars Brian May and John Deacon, vocal Eddie Mercury. I've been listening to them since I was a kid, i'm in my 50's now.
Check out Brian May’s version of “Too Much Love will Kill You”. It’s very emotional. In the same year he lost his Dad, and Freddie Mercury, and his wife left him, and he went into deep depression and contemplated committing himself into a psychiatric facility. It’s a beautiful song. Freddie Mercury’s version is excellent but Brian May’s brings tears.
My favorite Queen song! Roger Taylor had a great voice himself, his background vocals make this song even more amazing. My other favorite is Fat Bottomed Girls, you should check it out if you haven't already.
I had the great fortune to see Queen live twice when Freddie was still alive. So much energy in that body and one of the greatest voices ever. Roger Taylor (the drummer) has a great raspy voice that goes well with some of the songs. He even wrote som e own songs during the Queen era. One of them is "I'm in love with my car". From the same concert as this one, You can watch it in conjunction with another Queen classic "Killer Queen": ua-cam.com/video/pLna2-tjQvs/v-deo.html
This song is so good. My favorite Queen album is The Game! Maybe you can react to it. I think Every song on the Gane is This incredible!! 🔥 📛 I Believe Ola is Magical 😇 🌟 🌟
For me, what is real gold for Queen, is their 1974 concerts at the Rainbow and Hammersmith, which blow many of their later shows away. Try Liar from either place for a taste of what I mean. They were one of the best hard rock bands ever in the 70s, try it, you very well may love it. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
The band was at it's absolute live peak in this period, 1979-1982. I saw them on tour in 1980 and then in 1982. I also saw them in 1984, and while still brilliant, they didn't top the performances of these years. Live Aid in 1985 was fantastic of course, but contrary to what many modern commentators say - who never saw a full Queen show with Freddie and John - it wasn't the best live performance ever, or even Queen's best live performance. It could well be the shortest live performance though! It was only 20 mins, with shortened versions of the songs - a full Queen show was 2 hours plus all their better sound and lighting. Any full Queen show was better than the Live Aid one. Which isn't to say it wasn't still amazing! Also from around 1980-1982, Queen were officially the biggest band in the world, in terms of sales, concert attendances, and global outreach.
Great reaction!! This is a really good rendition of the song, but I really suggest you to go with the studio version first, and then take a look at the performance in 1979 at the Hammersmith Odeon which is a must! Loved all your reactions so far!
I really hope you respond to the studio version of this song, it's simply divine! as well as "Under Pressure (live at Wembley)", "Don't stop me now", "Killer Queen (top of the pops, 1974)". Your reactions are very cool^^

Amo la sonrrisa de esa mujer es tan natural
The incomparable Roger Taylor was/is a beast on drums and vocals. I'm In Love With My Car is also from this concert as a medley with Killer Queen. This performance of Somebody To Love is ranked the second greatest live performance with Live Aid ranked as the number one in musical history. ♥️👑🥁🎹🎤🎸
I Was at this concert in Montréal (10th row). I caught Freddie's tambourine at another Queen concert.
🎉 Hello to the 10th row - wow! What a moment.
I’m jealous but Wow, good for you!!
Please tell me you still have it!
Under Pressure, is yet another fantastic song from Queen (and David Bowie)
Queen at the height of their creative/musical powers. A truly amazing performance and not just this song but their whole set. They just killed it.

I'm in love with my car The drummer Roger Taylor sings it. You might enjoy it. I do believe there's a live performance of the song❤
Not only one
Same concert.
Fantastic group, so much passion ❤
Drummer Roger Taylor's voice is essential in the highest notes in many Queen songs, supporting Freddie. He also sings some songs as a lead vocalist.
Something impressive about this piece is that it gets better and better, each section being marvellous. No wonder why it was Mercury's own favourite song!

Another point you should know, the guitar that Brian plays is home made. By Brian and his Dad nearly 60 years ago and still playing today. xx

No computers; this is how bands work. Nods, practice, and just *feel*
“I love the drummer’s voice” not something you hear very often. The Band and The Eagles come to mind, but none better than Roger.
yes indeed this song is so❤ beautiful
A huge fan these guys take me way back.
wow i guess you liked the song lol
Since you loved this version, listen to Freddie sing this in Milton Keynes. Same song, but Freddie sings this in a blues version.
Brian on lead vocals...Sail Away Sweet Sister...She Makes Me(Stormtrooper In Stilettos),to name but 2...Roger lead on Tenement Funster...I'm In Love With My Car...Rock It(Prime Jive)-Freddie sings first few lines on this, don't get confused!...to name but 3
Freddie Mercury really was one of a kind with his incredible voice and electrifying stage presents
Àbsolute genius, heartbreaking to lose him at such a young age
I saw Queen live 1982 Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens Billy Squire opened the show phenomenal show OMG I'll forget it Freddy is Godly live oh how I miss them.🙏❤🎸🎤

Under Pressure, live at Wembley and Love of my Life, Rock in Rio, 1985
Love of My Life, live at Montreal 1981...
Ha pretty amazing. This shown is great.
The studio cut of this one is beautiful.
Jamies crying - Van Halen ( studio version ) You will love it so much it will make it's way into your Top-10 playlist. 😁😁✌✌
My fave queen performance! 💯🔥😎👍

Probably not your next reaction, but one day you should consider "White Queen" at the Odeon Hammersmith!! Great live track!!
Freddie is the best.I still love him.❤John is cute.
No Freddie no Queen.
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog (Live at Madison Square Garden 1973) (Official Video)
You will enjoy, Under Pressure, live at Wembley. Listen to the 6 minute version.
My love!!!!+!+°°°°!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shout out to Roger Taylor for the drums and amazing backup vocals!
My favorite Queen song! Roger Taylor had a great voice himself, his background vocals make this song even more amazing. My other favorite is Fat Bottomed Girls, you should check it out if you haven't already.
Queem é talento puro isso foi épico
I had the great fortune to see Queen live twice when Freddie was still alive. So much energy in that body and one of the greatest voices ever. Nice reaction, Oh the days before auto tune when talent ruled.
You should listen to their It’s Late, written by Sir Brian May!
Escucha y reacciona al cover de esta canción interpretada por PUTRI ARiANI cuando tenía 14años es fenomenal !
❤
You should watch the version from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert with George Michael standing in for Freddie ❤
"Mustapha" by Queen would be a cool choice 😁 A Song which no one in the World would do today...
I really hope you respond to the studio version of this song, it's simply divine! as well as "Under Pressure (live at Wembley)", "Don't stop me now", "Killer Queen (top of the pops, 1974)". Your reactions are very cool^^
Oh, I also recommend “lap of the gods (live at the Rainbow 1974)” and “the miracle”!😅
Great reaction! You said it looked like nothing could stop them ,well then you must react to Don't Stop Me Now lol official video thx!
Now please react to the studio version
😊
LOL, I really appreciate your reaction here - These guys are all very attractive both inside and out!! No, you don't need to be gay to recognize that! I'm sure people have told you about Brian having a PHD in Astrophysics and that John designed and built his own amplifier, among many other things -
🤗 Loving your Queen & PF reactions & hoping for some 📻 raidio friendly Rush (Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio, Free Will, Headlong Flight) and Steely Dan (Anything off AJA pronounced Asia) 🥰🐰
Hey Honey!
When are you going to react to some MORE live Queen & Freddie Mercury???💋
If you want another change to Freddie check out Barcelona. That song will shock you
There is nobody like Freddie. If you haven’t yet, you should check out Brad Delp from a Band called Boston. Start with More than a feeling.
I would suggest Dragon Attack from this same concert!
See, live versions rule. (sober).
😢❤😢❤😢❤😊😊
I think in any other group, Roger Taylor (the drummer) would have been the lead singer. However, with Freddy there, that is not the case
React to 39 written by Brian may , the best live version of that song in my opinion is earls court June 7th 1977
5:17-5:36 That's a guitar solo
The live version rocks harder, but the gospel harmonies are fuller in the official music video.
