Never. Ever. Interrupt any guitar solo, but especially a Brian May solo. You're forgiven this time. Live and learn guys. Glam rock was at it's height at the time, hence the clothes.

Guys let me give you some background on the band and this song. Freddie Mercury is the lead vocalist and plays piano and guitar. He has a 4 octave vocal range. He is considered by many to be the best frontman and singer ever. He got a diploma in graphic design and designed the band’s logo. Sir Dr Brian May is the lead guitarist and vocalist. He also plays keyboards and harp. He has a PhD in Astrophysics and has an IQ north of 180. He was knighted 2 years ago. He and his father made his guitar when he was 16 out of things around the house. The neck was hand carved from a 100 year old fireplace mantle, the body from an oak table, the tremolo bar from bicycle parts and his mother’s knitting needle. His guitar has a very unique sound you won’t find with anyone else and 60 years later he is still using it. It is called The Red Special. Roger Taylor is the drummer, vocalist and also plays guitar. He went to school to become a dentist but got bored and got a degree in Biology. He has a 3 and a half octave vocal range and a very high falsetto earning him the nickname, the dog whistle. He is considered by some to be one of the top 10 rock drummers ever. John Deacon is the bassist and also plays double bass, piano/keyboards and drums. He graduated with high honors in engineering. He made an amp called the Deacy Amp out of a speaker cabinet and parts he found in the trash. He gave the amp to Brian which enables Brian’s guitar to make different instrumental and orchestral sounds. Every member of the band wrote at least 1 number one hit and all were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bohemian Rhapsody is considered by many to be the greatest rock and roll song ever and their video for it revolutionized the way music videos were made and used, paving the way for the inception of tv channels like MTV. Queen are 4 equal members of one of the best bands of all time.

4 octaves for Freddy's vocal range is a little too much. Something like "he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves" is more accurate. His voice was amazing and well used in each song, I love it, but one thing that makes a good singer is that never push their limits while singing live. Freddy did it even in the studio and that makes his performances more human, more warmth.
Trivia: Prince is ranked as the third male rock singer in vocal range with 5 octaves and 3 semitones.

Guys, welcome to "ROCK OPERA!" Rock + Opera. Bohemian Rhapsody was written by Freddie Mercury, beginning to end, lyrics + music...everything! You probably saw the movie, "Waynes World" starring Mike Myers. When they're in the car rocking out with their heads bobbing, they were listening to THIS song! That's why the middle section sounded familiar to you. It's one of Queen's best and most successful songs, ever.

NEVER cut off a video before it ends! You talked over the soft ending that brings this amazing classic song together, then cut off the very end and missed out. Use "reaction etiquette" by stopping the song to make your comments (and satisfy You Tube rules by stopping at least twice per song so they won't take it down), then BACK UP A FEW SECONDS to start it again so it flows better for your first time hearing, and for us viewers. If you posted a video that didn't have a song title, no one would click on your video, right? Always remember: people ONLY click on a reaction video for a song they love, so they don't want you to talk OVER it, and they don't want you to cut off the ending. And, as someone down below said, listen to the song with headphones, for your own enjoyment, so YOU get the full effect of the song! (You haven't REALLY heard this song until you listen with headphones! When they do that operatic part, the sound goes from ear to ear back and forth.) And, put your video at full volume when you make it, so people can turn it down to their comfort level-- remember that rockers who grew up with this music LIKE IT LOUD. Just some helpful notes for you guys to keep in mind. I liked your reactions, and I'll watch more of your videos in the future to see if you took these suggestions to heart.... and then I'll subscribe and like.

This was 1975 so 10 years before Live Aid. I love this song and have for (nearly) 50 years. This was the first video ever produced as a promotion for a song. The song was charting and Queen was going out on tour so they produced this video in 3 days so that it could be used while they were in another country. At that time, the only way to really promote music in the UK was on a show called Top Of The Pops and they would feature the band who had the #1 song in studio every week on their show. This song stayed at #1 for 9 weeks so they reluctantly had to show this video instead of having the band in their studio. You really do need to listen to this again with headphones. The panning and the ambient sounds are outstanding. It becomes a roller coaster ride for your ears.

Somebody to Love - Live at Montreal 1981

Who wants to live forever - Live at Wembley 1986
It's a kind of magic - Live at Wembley 1986
One vision - Live at Wemley 1986
And another early song and also fabulous live performance:
Liar - Live at the Rainbow 1974
Just to name a few.... :-)
There are a few songs where studio version is the preferred version, but in general/most times with Queen you can say, live is the one to watch!
By the way, the drummer Roger Taylor has a fantastic voice too, in the beginning he sang the very high notes, too. He also sings lead in some songs, like:
Rock it - Prime Jive (here take the official lyric video, as there is no real live version. Starts with a beautiful intro of Freddie Mercury, then Roger takes over!)
I'm in love with my car - Live at Montreal 1981 (here Roger is singing and playing the drums at the same time)

It was three bits of songs that Freddie had, and eventually threw together. It was twice as long as a regular single so the record label was reluctant to issue it, and radio shows were reluctant to play it. What saved it was Kenny Everett (qv) playing a private reel-to-reel tape of it repeatedly on his radio show - first some parts as teasers, then he played the full piece 14 times over 2 days - and the public loved it. The following Monday record stores were besieged by fans demanding the record, only to be told it hadn't actually been released yet!
It was a similar story in the USA - a radio producer heard Everett's show, somehow got a copy of the tape, and played it in the USA - again fans were demanding the record before it had been released.
In the UK it spent 9 weeks at number one, including Christmas week. After Freddie died the same version was rereleased and again became the Christmas number one - the only time the same version of a song has achieved that.

He commuted a crime…the beginning, a confession. The middle operatic like section is a trial. The rock portion is him not wanting to accept his fate. The ending…he just gives in. Actually, most people think he’s coming out of the closet here and trying to reconcile his two lives. Freddie was raised Zoroastrian, the most ancient religion on earth. His parents…he feared their reaction. And his own feelings…he was bisexual or pansexual, not gay. Back then, not at all accepted, though he was and always was himself, not caring what anyone thought except those closest to him. RIP, Legend. 🙏❤

Watch one of the good documentaries on Queen. This song had multi-tracked (analogue obviously) choruses which explains why not all the song could be 'live'. NOT that they didn't have sufficient talent, it is Freddie alone singing them. The song alludes to Mercury 'coming out' to himself and his religious, fairly strict Madagascan origin parents (which would have been devastatingly difficult for anyone at the time, let alone someone pretty famous).

Not only is Brian an Astrophysicist, the whole band was educated. John the bassist has a engineering degree, Roger, the drummer a degree in biology and Freddie was in college for design I think.

Guys, Queen’s record label did not want to release this song as a single, citing its length at almost 6 minutes being twice the normal length of the usual 3 minute pop song to be played on the radio. However, Freddie Mercury, the lead singer (and the writer of this particular song) was adamant it be released and reluctantly their record label agreed.
Kenny Everett, a London DJ, was a friend of Freddie’s and loved Queen, and to help the band get the song the exposure it needed would tease his listeners by playing the song, but would chop it up into little bits, so eventually they would be able to hear the whole song during his radio slot and decide for themselves if they liked it or not. The plan worked and when audience demand for the song to be heard in its entirety intensified, the radio station had to give in to public pressure, and Everett (and other DJ’s) were allowed to play it in full.
Bohemian Rhapsody was released as a single in the UK at the end of October 1975 and became the UK Christmas number one, holding the top position for nine weeks. The song was the first ever to get to number one in the UK twice with the same version, and is also the only single to have been Christmas number one twice with the same version. The second was upon its re-release (as a double A-side single with "These Are the Days of Our Lives") in 1991, following Freddie’s death in November that year, staying at number one for five weeks.

Hi, just discovered your channel. I appreciate your respect for Queen, their music and even their 'look', which was common for the bands of that time.Queen, like the Beatles before them, changed themselves, their music and music for everyone. I recommend that you start watching early Queen of the 1970s and move on to the last in 1991. You'll get a better idea of how these four musicians changed the world. Thanks so much.

I don't know if anyone has suggested this already, but IF you want to hear an impromptu spur of the moment crowd singing this whole song, look up 'Green Day Bohemian Rhapsody'
It was an outside concert in Hyde Park, UK. Random music was being played while the stage and the band were setting up, and Bohemian Rhapsody came on...and the crowd decided to sing. 75k+ unbelievable magical moment.
Note that it's probably the only song. Literally, everyone in the UK knows word for word and will sing at the drop of a hat 😆

Queen is a rock band. Just because they are rock doesn't mean the band won't have slower songs, ballads if you will. Some of the hardest heavy metal bands of the 80's had a ballad or two in their catalog.
As for this song, it's a rock opera from their 1975 album, A Night at the Opera.
The rock band The Who also did a rock opera album with a movie: Tommy.
