Yeah, he was kind of grumpy about the song afterwards while the rest of us were all jazzed up and teary-eyed. He is only 17 so hopefully time will benefit him:)

Silas, you NEED to watch Queen's performance at Live Aid! Not much was expected of them at the time, but their performance blew everyone (including the other performers) completely away! Somewhere on UA-cam, there's a video called "20 minutes That Changed Music": It's all about the legendary, incredibly tight set done by Queen at Live Aid. Freddie's charisma and talent were such that he had the audience in the palm of his hand. They even famously helped him do warm-up vocal exercises!

My favorite Queen song!! Their live performances are an extra treat, always different & always unique! Please check out the Rock Montreal 1981 version and Milton Keynes 1982. ❤️🔥❤️🔥 Oh heck, you might as well go down the Queen 🫅🏻 rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳.

Sir Brian May was knighted for his services to music and charity Jacob. You are right May earned a PhD degree in astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007, and was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from 2008 to 2013. He was a "science team collaborator" with NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission. He is also a co-founder of the awareness campaign Asteroid Day. Asteroid 52665 Brianmay was named after him. In 2023, May contributed to NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission, the agency's first successful collection and earth delivery of samples directly from an asteroid (the asteroid Bennu). What a guy!

This is such a beautiful song but live it is a mind blower particularly the Montreal show in 1981. Thank you all for your reactions (brother couldn't look more bored or apathetic). Brian was knighted by King Charles last year for his contributions to music and animal welfare. He does some work with NASA these days using stereo images (another of his life long passions and he has actually reactivated the London Stereoscopic Company) to show surfaces for landings and also to show actual shapes of asteroids. The images he has created along with the team he works with, enable the crews to see the actual topography of the surfaces they wish to land on (Stereoscopy creates a 3-D image like the old Viewmasters some of us had as kids) so they don't drop into holes and enabling them to find a proper surface are for landing. He has other functions with NASA also, but at this time they are really appreciating Brian's expertise in this area enabling safe landings of their spacecrafts.

At last, someone who listens to the original recording and not the live version. Queen obviously couldn't recreate a lot of their songs live because of the overdubbing. Queen live were no where as good as when they were in the studio. Your brother looks uncomfortable and embarrassed, poor bloke.
I agree Dave. They could never do justice to a song like this live. Another example is Take My Breath Away. People rave about the live version, but it isn't anywhere as good as the album version as the vocal harmonies make it special. And as for Bohemian Rhapsody, they had to leave the stage because they could not reproduce some of it. Yeah, poor Oliver!
