People keep ignoring the fact that the fucking thing about the missing bass-guitar has been explained already anyway, YEARS ago.
They're still on their goddamn made-up narratives that are just plain wrong and can't get over the facts, if they could even find them.
Bottom line is; MetallicA and co. could STILL do a remix, WITH the original engineer, if they both WANT to and IF they can still find tapes. - Until that day comes, stfu everybody.
Cause indeed, Jason has a lot more interesting stuff to offer, like his stories and perhaps more of his creative works.

It's sad that even nowadays,30 years later, in 21 century, people around the world live without clean water .

Had meet & greet passes for Metallica at MSG around 1997 or so. My little brother was in 7th grade or so. He was so excited to meet the band after the show. Not trying to paint the other guys in a bad light, but Jason was the only member to come out for the meet n greet. Jason happened to be on the cover of Bass Player Magazine that month so my brother brought a couple copies & Jason was nice enough to sign both of them (one to my bro & one to me) and then to let my brother get a cool photo (of my bro & Jason).

I watched the Vulgar Video thousands of times . I’m sure there is more pro shot live footage of Pantera out there somewhere but the Moscow footage is iconic definitely . Metallica has the Binge and Purge , Cliff em all , Cunning Stunts , etc . Primal Concrete Sledge Dime playing ML with the 6 in line headstock is one of my favorite guitars he played .

His Alembic basses he mentioned were so badass. My fav era of his bass gear was during the black album era. I personally own a 4 string Alembic Spoiler. He even had a huge 6 string alembic bass he used on sad but true. Post black album era into the load era and throughout the 90s he stopped using Alembic basses. I think he switched to Sadowsky basses, because I guess the Alembics were so heavy that they took its toll on him physically and messed his back up. He is a beast though... scrawny dude playing those heavy bass guitars every night while head banging. He was dedicated to his craft. Every bass player who played in Metallica was/is very talented and brought something awesome to the band... but for me I grew up as a fan of Metallica during Jason's run with the band and he has always been my favorite member of the band.

As a 52 year old fan from the Bay Area (Petaluma) I can attest to the fact that Metallica put on one hell of a show at the Oakland Coliseum for Day on the Green in 1991. I was also at DOTG in 1992 when they absolutely stole the entire show from Guns N Roses who came on hours after Metallica was done burning the place to the ground. I was 20 and spent the whole night in the pits 5' from the fence at both those DOTG shows. I was also at the Phoenix Theater show in PetaIuma. Great time to be a young guy.

3:29 - That festival was headlined by AC/DC, though, and MetallicA played at sunset, basically. - But I don't know what the deal is with the recordings of that. - I had this download about 20 years ago, which I think was probably a rip from a VHS, but it was also a compilation of parts of each band's performances, a few songs each, and also interviews in between, like a semi-documentary. - That's probably the official "Monsters of Rock" release, but I hope that one day they could find more footage of that entire day. - I think there's some floating around, even here on UA-cam, but something more official would be nice.

At the end when he mentions people having died at the Monsters of Rock '91 on the Tushino Airfield in Moscow,
*he's actually confusing with a DIFFERENT Monsters of Rock* that ALSO had AC/DC in it. *(but NO Metallica)*
I don't remember which one exactly, but it was again in the same relative time era.
Now... to be perfectly fair, *it IS perfectly feasible* that people died at the '91 event also... Thing is, I've never come upon reports or information on THAT...
Whereas about *the OTHER event* (where Metallica was NOT at), there IS info out there ready and available.

Jason, Lars, and anybody else associated with the mighty, JAMES HETFIELD, need to count their blessings. He's 90% responsible for Met's success. Jason was lucky.

I wouldn't go that far. James is for sure the key ingredient, but if Lars hadn't been in the band Metallica may not have gotten any where near as big, not for Lars's playing or song arrangements, but Lars was 100% the driving force and the one who negotiated all of Metallica's early success. From getting a song on the first metal massacre album, to landing a record deal, to getting good management and getting an even better record deal etc. That shit was all Lars. James had the talent, but Lars had the vision.

Very wrong. Let me correct you my friend: Metallica wouldn’t of been a hundredth as popular if it wasn’t for Lars. Not only was Lars an excellent business person and manager, but notice he is credited as co-writer on virtually every, if not every, song Metallica ever recorded. His arrangement skills are as much of a key ingredient as Jame’s riff writing. Not to mention that many of their greatest and most popular riffs were written by Kirk, not James (see Enter Sandman, Blackish, Master of Puppets). Metallica would of been about as popular as Megadeath selling their million copies per album appealing to merely a metal audience. They certainly wouldn’t of been at that historical Russian show. Instead, produced, managed, and arranged by Lars’ incredible creative vision, James openly admitting his contribution has always been riffs falling out of his pocket in between soundcheck for songs at concerts, and lyrics of course, and never had the ability for big picture stuff and creative vision like Lara. Metallica’s music is very craftsman like in the way the songs are put together, almost Frankenstein composing where they take a riff there another riff by another guy there and yet another riff where they Lars suggests to repeat a passage multiple times before the (which is the story of their biggest hit). Another metal band that sold a handful of millions to white male metal fans? That’s James without Lars if he was lucky. With Lars? They become a force of nature selling HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS and not just to some western male metal enthusiasts but women too, people from countries other than the west, and so on.
I knew I would find an ignorant comment like this. It comes from western individualism as our tendency is to find one person that is the narcissistic hero with everyone else being underling workers. Bands are by definition a collaborative process. Replacing any member changes the sound completely. And that change can be the difference between world-wide success and failure.
It’s more like James and Lars are an indistinguishable in the driving force of the band, about 35% each of you want to quantify it. Then Jason at 10% and Kirk at 20%.

Show -Ya IS a scary band.
    Much tougher than metallica.
They're still friends after 35 years of American oppression.
Are you going to put them on the monsters or rock tour or are you still scared of 5 tiny old Ladies from japan?
I'm imposing a 35 year ban on anything metallica product.
As a nice payback for your silence.
Music Industry has nothing to do with music.
