- Since we heard about the release of the @dewalttv 12V XTREME Ratchets, we couldn't wait to get our hands on one for testing. Finally, after a few months, we received the DCF503 which is the 3/8" drive, and also the DCF504 in the smaller 1/4" drive anvil. These include a brushless motor that delivers up to 250 RPM to the anvil. You get a trigger lock and an LED light. Each ratchet is $179 for the bare tool.

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.
I got the 3/8s brushless 12v and absolutely love it! Sold both my snapon cordless ratchets and I’ve always said the snapon is the best! Dewalt did fantastic with these!
I talk shit on snap on but thought their ratchets were pretty good
Lol😂 u was just saying that to my self I'm going to sell my snap on
I've noticed even with high torque air ratchets that if the ratchet is touching a hard surface when you start they often won't break it loose. Having it away from a hard surface gives it a little "give" to hammer without binding.
Clutch dumping
I don't have a real use for a cordless ratchet, but I like my dewalt tools. It's been tempting to buy the dewalt because they finally made one
Have both, use them all the time at work, love them 👍💪
I have the Hart brand 3/8 drive ratchet and love it. I've also got the 1/2 drive high torque DeWalt impact and absolutely love it use them both everyday. I think that's kinda high for just a bare tool though. Enjoy the channel btw.
Great review per usual! I fully agree with you on one point that they are cordless ratchets not impact wrenches. Great for what they are intended to do. On the other hand the torque ratings for them are more for fastening results which they reach their torque specs and supersede them.
Good video👍 I agree that ratchets are not meant for breaking bolts free, i think that torque spec is rated for running fasteners tight. I have the 503 and absolutely love it, much nicer than the Milwaukee I had before
I love the feel of these and I like what DeWalt is doing, they are just a step behind Milwaukee. I'd like to go with these atomic ratchets but with Milwaukee releasing extended head high speed ratchets this year, I gotta stick with ol'red for now
The 12V system is very strong . The impact will rip a lug nut . I’d like to see a 12V power stack battery though so show they won’t abandon all to 20V.
1/4 was pretty impressive it would be able to loosen all fasteners that are like 6mm x 1.00 bolts easily, The 3/8 was nice to like the Dewalt. I like the shutdown feature otherwise it will twist back on you.
These seem totally adequate, but I prefer the M12 Milwaukee cordless ratchets due to the smaller form factor of the M12 batteries and having the option to buy extended reach, standard reach, high-speed, regular speed, etc.
They pair excellent with the 3ah. Been using the 12v 504 and the 20v 513 with a Powerstack. I really like the grip compared to my Milwaukee High Speed. would be nice if the Dewalt were a little faster though.
Mine came with 2 batteries and a charger love it no complaints here just put it to the test doing a complete rebuild on a hemi
Would the 503 be a good choice for a coil spring or strut compressor?
Really hoping Dewalt releases a right angle impact to compete with Milwaukee’s 2564.
I think the tool is getting stuck between the surface and the bolt. Try undoing the bolt holding it in your hand.
An impacting ratchet capable of breaking free up to around 80 ft lbs would be solid without having to go up to a right angle impact wrench.
First off great video and second, how would you compare the Milwaukee 2456 and Dewalt DCF504. In aviation, we prefer quarter-inch and smaller heads on our ratchets due to all clearance restraints. That’s why I ask. Thanks.
Hi Tim, I love both of them I’m more interested in the 3/8, I need dewalt to produce the same tool with a long extended version for long reaching applications, love your videos as always excellent demonstration ty, Bob,
They do have an extended one. Its like 503fc or something like that. I'll have mine in my hand next week
DCF503E Got mine from the Mac man last week. 3/8 drive extended. ... love it
Nice brother...🏁
I agree with everything you said about cordless ratchets except for one thing. My first gen 1/4” cordless ratchet was pretty much always spinning before I pushed it on a fastener. Of course it was weak sauce when new but it got used daily for 15 years and never let me down or damaged anything. Loved the all metal body, no plastics, no flex. All that said it would continuously run or attempt to run any time the paddle was pulled regardless of wether it was spinning or not. It’s a standard brushed motor and I’m curious if that’s why the Dewalt was so quick to quit. If the brushless motor is sensorless or even if it is sensored, the controller is probably programmed to quit trying as soon as it can’t tell the direction of rotation.
What brand was your 1gen ?
@@louiewiessv5756 Matco. It may well not have been the actual first generation of cordless ratchets from Matco but it was the first generation of the lithium ion powered cordless ratchets from Matco.
Seems the 1/4 is stronger ???
What if the the nuts were 1/2 inch?
You should make a video comparing these to the Milwaukee ratchets!
Already done on the Torque Test Channel!
When you click it and it doesn't work it's because the ratchet head is centered the part that ticks back and forth at the head as it's spinning when it doesn't work take it off push the trigger let it spin and try again it locks itself up when it's in the center position idk why but clicking it over and over again isn't the way to do it because it doesn't let the head move and it just gets stuck
So these don’t have a clutch when tightening?
No clutch all the power from the motor goes right to the socket.
Why didn’t you do a torque test tightening the nut? Seems to me like that would be what their rating is for, right?
It’s the same issue the M12 had when it came out… we want the extended head and all wish that would’ve came out first. The short ones are great but never use now that I have the extended reach M12.
The 3/4 12V extended we’re released at the same time. You can only find them on tool trucks and online. Model number DCF503EB.
Review on the Dewalt atomic ratchet
Can I ask you what brand and model for your torque wrench?
It's gearwreanch
Thank you for the information.
@@djcustoms3709 you welcome.
You have to ease into the trigger. If you pull the trigger all of the way at first, the wrench stops moving.
What battries does this use? I have 20v max xr tools. will those work on this tool?
12v
Are black gloves required when handling these ratchets?
that battery a little bulky for the ratchet
The 2 and 3ah for perfect and it's not bulky what so ever
The dewalt is $199, or the Mac version is $249. I think spending the extra $50 to get a slimmer design would be worth it.
They're still not available in germany. Man Dewalt come on...
Like you said they are basically nut runners - not much more
Always Gotta spin it then run it on the nut
Air ratchets are the same. Not sure why people would expect a ratchet to break things loose.
We agree, but they still expect it. Thanks for watching.
These are made in North America and a USA company. Been waiting for a Dewalt ratchet for a long time. I have not bought the red one because well it is tied and owned by a red country.
The ryobi extendo would have busted them bolts loose no problem. And if it didn’t, it twist your arm off because your the weak link
compare to milwaukee
Torque test channel already did, put a hurting on the Milwaukee
I can take my lug nuts off with the 3/8 drive ratchet if I get a running start. So ya it will reach those numbers no problem. My lug nuts on that car is tightened to 80 ft lbs.
Looks way to heavy to maneuver around tight areas
Made in Mexico better than China ?
It's made in North America, can't go wrong with that
*Seems like a Double Fail. If Used Properly, you Will NOT get the Rated ft lbs.*
Torque test channel proves your statement false 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@maxell3655 You just saw proof
@@pettypendergrass8596 tightening it with a torque wrench to torque and then loosening it is different then using the ratchet to tighten it to 60 ft.lbs. It is not rated for 60 ft.lbs breakaway. People need to understand how these tools work. Its not an impact 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@maxell3655 i know its not a impact. neither tightened or broke loose what was advertised. Like he said in the video, those tools are best for running down the nut.now read the 2nd sentence again.
@@pettypendergrass8596 cordless ratchets are not designed to breakaway at their torque spec. Where was there any proof that he actually tried to tighten and check with the torque wrench to see if it met those numbers? It was not done in this video. Once again, torque test channel actually did it. Also you won't find a cordless ratchet that would break those bolts free.
Welp I'm really disappointed in the 3/8. I didn't expect much from the 1/4 but it put on a better show than the 3/8....
Way overpriced for a ratchet. Im including all brands
Ya but they make my job sooo much easier and faster that I can get more done in a day and make more money, it's an investment that has paid off for me at least
Good luck spending minutes on a bolt instead of seconds
Sorry Dewalt you're too late to the party. They're great for their carpentry tools but Milwaukee runs the automotive stuff. At this point I'm too invested in Milwaukee 12v to even consider Dewalts 12v stuff
Sold all my Milwaukee and went DeWalt... Except one tool, the die grinder and if Dewalt builds ones the Milwaukee is gone. All the new impacts from Dewalt are better, the ratchet is better, underhood light is way better... The only thing Milwaukee has is the right angle impact but it's gutless unless you live in Florida
@@FusionBoost2.0 all my 18v/20v stuff is Dewalt. But Milwaukee is so far ahead with the variety of M12 stuff that I find it hard to believe Dewalt will catch up
@@UnbeatenPath1 they have lots of m12 tools but most of the m12 tools I have 0 interest in so it dont bother me
I have just recently purchased the Dewalt 12v line and absolutely love them! Getting the 3/8 ratchet soon. Their 12v DCF901 1/2" impact beats the Milwaukee M18 compact in torque specs which speaks for itself. The 3/8 version is almost exactly the same specs. They are slowly putting out more 12v items can't wait to see what the future brings!
@@FusionBoost2.0 I picked up their Die Grinder this spring. Works well, it's the DCG426.
Do not buy this ratchet it is a piece of shit I am a mechanic and I’m on my third one in two months this thing couldn’t handle plastic bolts
Wow, that's very sad. What is breaking on them?
The battery connections just don’t hold to the tool .. and if you are using it everyday it will collect dust and rust from cars and causes the ratchet to quit … when it comes to power tools nothing is as reliable as snap on or bluepoint … ever since Lowe’s bought out craftsman and dewalt these tools have become pure garbage
junk cordless ratchet lie about torque waste of money
Hyper tough makes a electric ratchet that looks extremely similar to a Milwaukee fuel high speed even the battery looks same almost and it just came out and from the videos of people post it it looks really good. They also make an extended reach it’s 40 bucks at Walmart. Can you please test it
I hate it when they waste some of my tools power by putting a damn flashlight on it… like bro I’m buying a $200 tool and like a $100 battery… I think I got a light source… not sure why these people don’t think
Those LED lights draw a minuscule amount of current… approx 20ma-30ma.
On a 3AH battery, 30ma is 1% (approx 1 minute per 90mins run-time)
On a 6AH battery, 30ma is 0.5% (approx 1 min per 180mins run-time)
Yeah, what a waste 🥸
DON'T KNOW WHY THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS ALWAYS WASTE TIME ON SPECS.
WE CAN READ MANUALS FOR SPECS !!!!!!!!!
FOCUS ON DEMONSTRATIONS AND THEN DETAIL WHAT ARE LACKING IN TERMS OF SPECS WHEN THE TOOL FAILS OR OVER PERFORM?!
