- Compact tools are great to have in order to get into those tight spaces. This DeWalt DCF901 XTREME 12V Brushless impact wrench takes it a big step further by delivering a mountain of torque in this small frame. The variable speed trigger dials in the RPM and IPM you need from 0-2850 and 0-3,250 respectively. We were very impressed with the performance of the XTREME impact wrench in both forward and reverse. Pricing for the DCF901B starts at $149 and you can get the kit for $329 with 2 batteries and a charger.

Great video as usual, Tim. This has been our go-to cordless compact since picking it up, use it all the time. That 5ah battery just lasts for friggin ever on this guy!
What do you guys work on? Are you guys a regular mechanic shop?
I can't say that I like this test vs the one you guys do this is pretty subjective considering you will have different results based on fasteners ect. Just doesn't seem to make feel warm and fuzzy. Lol
@@CPthetooladdict bolt breakaway tests will always be dependent on the size condition and pitch of the bolt and size and hardness of the washer use. But if you test all the impacts on those same bolts same conditions then it should paint a pretty consistent picture like Tim is here. More vids, more data, more better!
@@TorqueTestChannel lol more better!!
Love this little impact wrench. As someone who does occasional work on my car, this has been plenty for my needs 90% of the time and it weighs practically nothing.
Yes, you are correct, this will do just about everything you need for normal maintenance on a vehicle. And why carry the extra weight of a High Torque impact wrench if you don't need to? Thanks for watching and commenting. Your channel is doing great by the way.
@@Shoptoolreviews The high impact comes handy for suspension work but for normal break changes you can probably still get away with this unit in the video.
What a massive improvement from the older DCF902. It's marginally bigger in size and heavier in weight but more then double in performance!
I bought the 12 volt drill a few months back,,I can't believe how impressed I am with it,,all the power I need,,light weight,
They that good?, I loved the feel and weight of the drill and impact at the shop but was just unsure if the grunt was there
I am 110% satisfied with this torque wrench. Never owned one before and picked this up to help work on my cars and it removes everything. Suspension work from jack stands sux, rusted bolts I can't even maneuver a breaker bar on this thing removes them no problem one handed. This tool has saved me hours and hours and alot of frustration. This is a tool I can't live without now. I just have one 3amp battery and it lasts plenty, I'll check it thinking it must be almost dead but nope, still at 3 bars. Amazing tool.
You have a great video. I can’t wait till you get your hands on the DCF911B.
This is the first cordless impact wrench I’ve ever owned and I absolutely love it and can’t wait to get the 3/8 version of it
You picked a great one to start with. Thanks for watching.
If you have the impact driver the 3/8 wrench is the same tool with the different anvil. The difference between the the 1/2 & 3/8 are night and day. It does its job but not like the 1/2". I used a 3/8-1/2 adapter before purchasing the 1/2" used mainly for removing lawn tractor zero turn blades (15/16 bolts) the 3/8" did it but struggled a lot. That's the day i bought the DCF901.
@@jhstyer yeah I have the DCF901 and want the DCF903 which is the same as the 901 just different anvil
Yes, so the 1/2 has, naturally, more TQ than a 3:8. This applies to any tool. The large mass allows for more power conversion
@@mresab1997 The interesting thing is, this channel tested the 3/8" compact Milwaukee M12 and it outperformed the 1/2-in drive Milwaukee M12. So your assessment here does not correlate with the actual results they received on this channel.
I bought one a couple weeks ago. Love it. Awesome little impact wrench.
The one I've been waiting for thank you Tim
Glad we could help. It's been long enough. lol. Thanks for watching.
Great video and review, thank you!
I ended up picking up the Ryobi Miter Saw you did a review on and I like it more than I thought. Definitely not for heavy use though. 😀
Excellent review Tim keep it up bro thanks for the effort and time you put in awesome 👍😎
It's crazy they give you this bare tool free at Lowes, when you buy one of their extreme drill and driver kit right now.
The $199 kit ? & get a free $149 impact ?
@@nixaeagle141 yes sir.
@@josecortes9799 awesome thank you

That is a great deal, for sure.
This tool is a beast I use it as a heavy truck mechanic.
Tim ... awesome video.
I've been waiting for this tool to be tested
You and me both! This is a great little impact wrench.
@@Shoptoolreviews thanks for your everyday effort... is well appreciated
I bought this brand new for $50. This thing is awesome!! Great for suspension work and has beaten any nut and bolt I’ve put it against.
Where did you buy it for that price?
@@scott4036 I smell bs
Just got the 3/8 kit from lowes, 2 batteries (3ah and 5ah) with charger and bag, $149 (Basically free batteries, charger and a bag). Can't wait to try it.
I just got the 3/8 version, I use a DCF891 for a lot of stuff but for the majority of what I do at work (power generation and heavy diesel tech) it’s just zipping bolts off and on. The more compact stuff (m12 stubby, CT861 and these tools) get used a lot more than the big boys.
I will pick up that impact around GOOD Friday,,,for sure
i own straight milwaukee fuel, but I picked up this little guy to bring to work. got the impact, the 5ah, 3ah, and charger for 150 at lowes. absolutely insane. keeps up with the m18 mid torque
you paid 150 for everything? tool + 2 batteries?
@@helsonly722yup so did i
@@helsonly722actually I’m about to go buy it again
Thanks for the vid!!!! Helped me make up my mind!!!!
Great video! Love the DeWalt 12v
As always great video and information. You are my go to person whenever I want to spend money 💰
I appreciate that! I hope we don't cause you to spend too much money. lol. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video tim!! 👍🇨🇦
I've been using my 901 for a few months now and it's handled nearly everything I've thrown at it. I ended up selling my 894 mid-torque because the 901 delivers so much punch. Rumor has it that DeWalt will soon be releasing the exact same tool on the 20V platform.
It's a very powerful little impact. Thanks for watching.
I just bought my 20v version, the dcf913 in a kit with 2x 5ah batteries, charger, and bag for $199 on Amazon. There doesn't seem to be a lot of reviews on it since the 921/923 Atomic series is getting all the attention, but it seems like a pretty damn good bargain.
Thank you Tim! Seems like a decent competitor to the Milwaukee 1/2 stubby.
You bet, and yes, it will be a strong competitor to the M12 stubby. Thanks for watching.
Indeed. We shot a video about it.
it's stronger then milwaukee
And the M18 from what I saw…
FINALLY ! What a bad little tool . Definitely buying one . Haven’t seen the kit yet though , just the bare tool .
You can find the kit on ACME Tools. I have the link in the description. Thanks for watching.
I don't really use a tool like this at my work! But now I want one
It's so handy to have. Thanks for watching.
The DCF901 is my most used impact. When I need more power I grab my new dcf900 which retired my dcf899a
You know it’s a good tool. But I have the new 3 speed Dewalt 20 volt it’s a little taller but actually shorter. I was a little disappointed. To me the whole point in the 12 volt line is compact. I really like Dewalt 12 volt tools. Was just surprised when I put them side by side the 20 volt was smaller. Just my thoughts. Great video.
I have the 902 and 901. They're a good team. I use the 902 to install everything and remove smaller hardware. I grab the 901 for the bigger stuff.
I have the same socket sets in 3/8 & half inch, however, had the 901 1/2" not come out first, I'd have bought the 3/8 903 to simplify things, not have to fetch 1/2" sockets, just use an adapter.
The 902 is a lot lighter & more agile with the 2ah battery. But the 5ah battery on it is like a turbo in car, providing more power to make it a much more versatile wrench.
All 3 have identical handles.
Excellent combination. No need to carry a heavier and more powerful tool if you don't need to. Thanks for watching.
Looking to buy. This was very helpful.
.
It’s crazy that the Milwaukee M12 stubby did this well too.
This little thing is a beast
Got mine for $110 second hand, great deal!
Your information is good, thank you
not bad. dewalt always had a good selection of tools.
When can we see the Bosch 18v profactor 1/2 impact wrench?
149 at my local Lowe's. Picked it up today came with 2 batteries and a charger.
I would love to see If the anomaly happens with DeWalts 3/8" drive vs the 1/2" drive, like what happened with Milwaukee. Please test the 3/8" drive DeWalt.
Great video! That 500 definitely would have gone after another 10 seconds
I have this. Its great but I would like to have the auto slow down after breaking free a nut. But it is light and powerful. I have several of the Dewalt 12v line now and they all seem very nice. I also have a bunch of Dewalt 20v and Milwaukee M12 tools too. For most things though you would definitely be happy with the Dewalt 12volt line. A little lighter and less bulky than the 20v, and they are also more balanced and feel better to use than the Milwaukee M12 tools. One bad thing though is only a certain stores will carry the Dewalt 12v XTreme line. Lowes and Acme are the primary ones.
doyou have dch 072 rotary hammer is it good enough or i should go for 172
@@saruntools I got the DCH273 due to its having a dedicated chiseling mode. For just smaller holes in concrete though the 072 12v would likely work well though.
@@rcud1 thanks bro
I'm trying to debate between the DCF901 or DCF921 20V. If I get the 12V I'll probably get the e-ratchet as well, but if I get the 20V I probably won't.
Did this beat out the 20v DCF921b?? Wow, impressive it was able to break 400ft/lbs
Can you ask your Mac guy if there is a boot that fits the dcf 901 and the part # I can't find it the DeWalt ones all come from out of the USA..
There is a sale right now or you can get this plus the electric wrachet and 2 2ahr batteries a charger and a case
DeWalt definitely needs to expand their line of 12v tools. Milwaukee has just about everything under the sun that uses their m12 system.
Would this be a good tool for skidplates and tire rotates threw out the whole day
Great vide STR
Thank you very much sir. Keep up the great work on your side. Thanks for watching.
Hi my brother Tim, I’m a little confused here. The TTC channel also shows this Dewalt impact beating the Milwaukee M12 Stubby in torque ratings. But on your channel shows this new Dewalt impact doing a maximum 450 ft pounds of torque, but on your other video review, you show the Milwaukee M12 Stubby beating the Snap On impact by doing a maximum torque of 500 foot pounds of breakaway. Can you please do a new King Of The Stubby’s video showing and putting to rest of who the King is? Milwaukee M12 Stubby vs this New Dewalt Stubby. I’m pretty sure that the viewers would love to see this battle. 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
Bro, this stuff is advertised on the packaging box and many channels do individual testing. No need to test what we already know. Also, what's with the hyper patriotism? Neither tool is made in the USA.
I like the 12v lineup of these tools but i returned my 3/8 impact and 1/4 driver impact because the gearbox to housing is not the most durable. I knocked over the impact driver by accident, it fell 4ft down to ground and the gearbox to housing split apart. That keeps me from buying this lineup. I do like the compactness of them.
Which socket set fit for this wrench? 1/2 doesn’t work.
Would you be able to a head to head with the dewault dcf903?
Can get this at lowes for 149 which includes the 5ah battery, 3ah battery and charger
Cool Tim 🤟 😎
I see that Hytorc LiON gun 👀👀
I'm waiting for dewalts fall release of the new 1000+ ft lb 20v model.
Are they coming with some new 12v tools?
I think it can break 500 with a fresh off the charger battery. Torque test channel proved this is stronger than the m12 stubby.
I got both, its really not
M12 stubby 1/2"?
We tried with fresh battery, and it didn't ever break it free within 10-seconds. We'll see shortly when we put them head to head. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews I see your red wall. Can we trust you to not grease the hardware with the stubby when comparing to the DeWalt?
Kidding! Thanks for the demo!
@@VikingOlberg-NymoenOfNorway idk man we all saw it on the torque test channel, not really room for debate we saw what we saw, the dewalt put out more power, u can watch the video.....
So I just watched this and then watched your video on the stacked battery. The 20 volt atomic with every type of battery couldn't take the 450lb off. Can you do a video confirming that
So I can verify myself that the 901 is good for up to about 454 ft lbs. that small 450 zone seems to be the line before going into the high-TQ tool category…
TODAY I purchased the 12v 3/8 drive brushless impact, it was unable to remove my F150 lugnuts on full charge. I went and purchased kobalt wired impact 1/2 drive that did remove lugs. Im thinking on returning the kobalt to get the 12v dewalt 1/2 drive that take the same batteries as my 3/8". Should I do this? Or perhaps return kobalt and purchase the 5mah batteries for uae on the 3/8"? Please lmk
UPDATE: Returned the 3/8 and kobalt and purchased the 12v 1/4" impact driver, drill and 1/2" drive impact.
Try the v20 craftsman 3/8
Finally! 🎉 🎊
I know, right?!
Still M12 stubby for me. Is this a real effort by dewalt to upstage the stubby??? as a package it has failed!. Batterycapacity/Standerd fetures/size ergonomics/weight all go to the stubby. Performance Is yet to be seen. But if the M12 dont do it it's big brother will. Remind me why i would buy this??????? Great vid btw and thanks.
Ergonomics with fat shitty ass handle🤣😂
The m12 is just crappy. Would take my 14.4v over that. Love the freaky just got it
Dewalt really testing my loyalty to team red with this one!😅
Same! haha
Throw the loyalty out of the window. I want to see more tools in the lineup. Competition means better tools better prices.
@@jhstyer . That's not the point. Some people are invested in a brand because they own battery packs and charging systems for their power tools. Re-investing in a new brand means new batteries and chargers hence people are often loyal to one brand due to cost savings.
💪DeWALT!
Is this Canadian pricing?
I bought 1 2 weeks ago and it got so much power it snapped its anvil clean off 😩
Should perform even better especially sense most people won’t be using that giant of a socket and adapter on a regular basis.
The now old M12 stubby did 500 ft lbs in the your M12 vs Snap on 18v test.(remember the M12 only advertises 250lbs not 400 ) Seems like the new only one speed DeWalt is still in catch up mode. This should've blown the older M12 out of the water. Rubber over mold is now some add on feature? LoL ! Plenty of tools have this on their batteries, including the M12 L stick batteries.. no speed option is a good thing? Since when is more choices a downgrade?.. sorry but one speed is old tech to keep it cheap but it's not really priced that way ...
We will put these two impact wrenches head to head in a shootout very soon. They are very close in strength. In fact, I think the DeWalt may edge out the M12 for tightening force. We shall see.
As for the rubber on the batteries, I was making a point that the regular DeWalt 12V batteries don't have it. Therefore, it's good to see the impact resistance on these batteries for the impact.
Finally, as for the features or lack of features. You will find that many users...mostly in the older professionals...me included...they would rather just have a variable speed trigger so they can use their finger to dial in the amount of power they need. This is why, during testing, on an impact wrench, I don't necessarily downgrade or upgrade our scoring based on these features. I do make a point to mention them, either way. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews can't wait for the shoot out. I agree I think the DeWalt will edge it out, or i should say expect it to since it's advertised for more power. Love your videos brother !
Milwaukee fan boy all salty Dewalt is bringing that 🔥🔥😂😂 and the new atomic 20 volt is shorter than the Milwaukee m18 fuel gen 3 compact impact wrench, and the dewalt is rated at 300 forward and 450 break away💪
The old M12 didn't break 500 in that video. Personally I don't care for speed settings on an impact wrench, I either want it set to full beans to remove something or I want to run a fastener down fast. I think the precision wrench mode is neat but not essential.
Looks very nice! I think Milwaukee has some real competition.
Can I use this tool with the normal DeWalt 12V (XR) Battery (not max version) ?
Yes, you can.
@@Shoptoolreviews Thanks, is there a disadvantage with using the ''normal'' battery? Or is it just the rubber and a different capacity?
I got mine at Lowes for $149 and got a free 3 Amp, 5 Amp batteries and a 4 Amp charger for free
You know, I got the dcf903, (3/8in drive version of this tool.). lol I still use the dcf902 more. You just don’t need that much power for engine bay stuff.
Engine bay most likely not but im a diesel and fleet tech and i use it on driveshafts, axle shafts, and air bag suspension
@@crispychrispgaming9261
I got 4 impacts, so I hear ya. I got the 3/8 in drive version of this, the smaller 902, the mid torque And half inch high torque as well.
But I’m not a diesel tech, I’m in solar sales, with a fetish for restoring and upgrading 90s sporty coupe cars.
Right now, I have a Prelude SH, that, an s13 hatch and s14 se coupe, in various states of disrepair. And ofc a high mileage early gen hemi 3/4 work truck for occasional towing and car parts hauling.
So I use these for personal use, and reluctantly as favor for friends and family that rather have me fix their stuff instead of taking it to s shop.
@@juanc5149 nice. I have the same impacts except the high torque. I have an aircat 1/2 inch but i rarely have to use it thanks to the mid torque and for tighter spaces the 3/8 stubby. I do side work for my brother and his cargo Vans for his business and i work on my own cars as well and i love the impacts.
The little 902 is definitely compact, but it really lacks on power. You are right though, probably great for underhood valve covers, timing covers, etc.
what is the difference between DCF901 and DCf901B
the letter b at the end just stands for “bare” tool
I just can not believe how they lie about it being some compact tool, its the same size as a full size 20v impact driver.
Impact wrench is a different type of tool than an impact driver.
Also a full size impact wrench is MUCH bigger than an impact driver.
