@swampssa Child safety lock(stuck in locked position), turn signal(control arm would spring back too far after turning and trigger the opposite direction), and the dynamic cruise control(randomly slow truck down with no one in front of me).

I had an 18 z71. Loved most everything about it except it had a few issues.
There was a machine screw with washer that wasn’t tightened down all the way deep within the steering column that rattled and drove me crazy! It required the dealer removing the entire dash to fix.
Shortly after that the infamous transmission/torque converter issues started. It was the worst thing about the truck and the reason I got a Tacoma.
The 3rd gen Tacoma is sluggish and not as comfortable to drive on the daily. It’s 4x4 doesn’t have an auto mode and cabin isn’t as big. But the reliability and resale are second to only a few high end luxury vehicles.
Part of me wants to try the new Colorado because I loved how great they drive and the 4x4 system kicks ass. But since they didn’t fix the transmission/torque converter issues I’ll probably stay way.

I owned a 2019 zr2 for 4.5 years. I was in love with it for the first 2… then the reliability issues started making me hate it.
    First 2 year issues,
Climate control panel broke (1500 miles)
    Transfer case leak (4k miles)
    Rear axle/brake failure (6k miles)
    All covered under warranty.
    Post 2 year issues
    Transmission failure (30k miles)
    Ac failure (28k miles)
Climate control panel failure (34k miles)
Covered under warranty because it was under 36k miles.
Transmission failed second time (62k miles)
    Ac complete failure (50k miles)
    Rear axle/brake failure (42k miles)
What ever the new body control module is failure (68k miles)
Climate control panel failure (71k miles)
All of this was not covered. I got rid of the truck at 72k miles.
The truck was an absolute blast to drive when it was running. Unfortunately, I’ll never buy another GM product ever again.

I know this probably won’t help you but I live by one of the truck plants and they have two tiers of employees and when shift changes you can tell who’s going to their 2nd job and I don’t think they are buying what they are building

@@kurtgreen1040 i feel like most people who buys gm are only planning to keep it a few years or until the warranty runs out. After that, they are throw away vehicles. The only thing I don't like about the ZR2 is that they decided to put that trash 8 speed that notorious for problems. The tacoma was looking good until you realized their off road version price is very close to the ZR2 which is crazy meaning TRD going to be priced as a full size truck.

Real curious on what your transmission is doing. I have a 17 ZR2 so know about those trans issues. Thanking about buying a new one but kind of terrifying if they haven’t fixed the transmission. I can’t believe they didn’t use the 10 speed. I guess it was a cost thing.

I have owned a trailboss Colorado since march and have 23,000 trouble free miles. I had a 17 z71 Colorado and had a shuttering transmission. Loved the truck but it had to go. So I was on the fence myself. But there is no comparison between the 2. But i dont run my truck like this dude so if your gonna beat the crap out of your truck lol I don’t know how it will hold up

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul 4 місяці тому

The 10-speed has issues as well and across both Ford and GM vehicles. The vast majority of real issues with the 8-speed were in the first few years when things like stator support failing and the origina formulation of the transmission fluid absorbed moisture from the air via the vent and would cause the viscosity to drift out of spec over time, leading to issues like glazed torque converter clutches that would manifest as shudder and TCC slip. One thing that is definitely not advisable is increasing the tire diameter without doing something about the stock axle ratio. Taller tires only puts more stress on the transmission . I switched from Toyota to Chevy after the problems with my Tundra and Tacoma and thankfully I have not had issues with my 8-speed, but I don't own one of these ZR2's with 35" tires either.

    I went from a '21 ZR2 to my new '23 ZR2 "Glacier Blue", I absolutely love it!!!
Ordered it the 2nd day the ordering process was opened which happened to be March 6th..
Truck was built August 30th and was delivered to my family's dealership September 6th. 6 months to the day. As far as I know it's the only ZR2 in NW Ohio.
I know there has been a lot of negative feedback on these trucks on the forums but, I feel it's a small percentage of trucks. Thankfully, I haven't had any issues with mine other than the auto start/stop quit working but, I consider that a bonus.
Sorry to ramble.. let's have a great 2024. Looking forward to more ZR2 content

Haha talk about a BIGTIME Colorado fanboy here!! No one is buying them because nobody wants them! Oh and they would get driven over by a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon when off-roading!!! lol… shorter wheelbase isn’t always better off road, just like a longer wheelbase isn’t always better. I really thought you were an unbiased channel and I’m a Chevy guy. But even I can admit the Jeep or a TRD Tacoma are much better options for trucks than a Colorado

I said the JEEP is much better off-road. And ya obviously the Toyota is going to be more reliable! You said the Colorado is better off roaring than the Jeep lol. I would like to see a comparison with a new TRD Tacoma and see how much more capable the Colorado is like you say (bet you will be surprised!) Anyway I thought this channel might have something to do with RACING (hence the name) and not a biased Chevy Colorado channel. I think we all want to see you do different things

They aren’t buying them because they aren’t building enough of them. I’ve only seen one ZR2 in my area so far. I ordered one at the beginning of June 2023, I was 3rd in line at my dealership. I still haven’t gotten a build date yet, mine is now going to be a 2024 which is fine. Shutting down the production line for 6 weeks and now a parts shortage certainly doesn’t help either. Im just hoping once they fire up production on the 24s sometime here in the first part of January they will start cranking some ZR2s out, at least start building for those of us who already ordered last year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @Microsoft_2016 4 місяці тому +1

There can be a lot of reasons why people are not buying this. I love the new Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and I would get it if I could. But the fact of the matter is that because of fuel costs, GM is forcing me out and making me switch to Ford. A lot of people are switching to Ford from GM. Gas prices are continuing to be high because a certain man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue doesn't believe in energy independence and a lot of people are steuggling to afford to put gas in their cars right now, which is why they're going towards more fuel efficient vehicles. GM cannot seem to made a good hybrid for the life of themselves and when they have, it has been absolute crap. It's either conventional gas or full EV. They're doing this because the Biden Administration is forcing them to do this and GM's CEO is absolutely terrible who needs to go. Ford seems to be the last good American brand that we have. The best selling pickup truck in the nation is offered with a hybrid, they have kept the Mustang with the V8, and the best thing they have made in the last 50 years: the Ford Maverick. Ford really hit a home run with this and it's too hard to ignore. There is a reason why they can't keep up with the demand for the truck. I still like GM and I still support them for right now, but it seems like they don't like me as a consumer. They hate me and they want me out. They've left me no choice but to go over to Ford because of how incompetent they are. They seem to hate their consumer base very much and you don't have to look that hard. Ford isn't perfect either, but they seem to be a lot better than GM at the moment. They borrowed from Toyota for the hybrid system, but it's pretty efficient unlike GM. It's a sad reality, but that is the world we live in. Sad really. Enough said.

If they ever deliver my Ranger Raptor, it should be much better than the ZR2, with 100 more HP before intercooler and tune. Nothing beats my family's 2013 Shelby Baja700, and right behind it is our 2018 Shelby Baja525. Those trucks make the Silverado look like a made in China POS. I also hate the piano black in Chevys, super ugly, and trash in a baja truck. I'm glad I didn't order a ZR2 when they were announced. I would have always regretted not getting the Ranger Raptor.
