Seriously your dealership is a joke and you should really report them to GM. So how the warranty process works is the dealership is GM's eyes and ears. What happens is the dealership warranty person is responsible for reporting their claims to GM. It's in the wording they use to get your claim approved. They can get anything warrantied if they truly want. Obviously these clowns know who you are and are refusing to help you get your claims warranted. Next time you have a problem take it to a dealership that's in an entirely different state or far enough away that they don't associate with that crappy dealer you use. I bet you they will warranty these problems. It might be too late if the dealer you use has already flagged your vin as being abused. Also get on the phone with GM directly and speak to the area GM service manager. They can over ride the dealership. Trust me I know the process because I was that guy for 10 years. Also it's not just GM, ford dodge and Toyota are just as bad. Find a dealership willing to word the warranty to your favor

I just wonder if you could actually just remove the long fins from their black plastic housing. Then just put the empty housing back in and plug it in. Technically the little motors that move the fins should still work, they just wouldn’t be turning anything. Therefore, no more stuck fins, no more resistance on those little motors, and no more engine light. I wouldn’t imagine that dumb thing would be able to tell that the fins weren’t there. Just a thought 🤷‍♂️

The big problem is that dealership service departments have become glorified lube & tire centers. They don’t actually fix anything anymore. Anything over a simple service, they refer back to corporate engineers. I just finished a lemon law buyback of my 23 F150 Tremor where it has sat at the dealership since October 30th & they are unable to diagnose the issue. You walk into the service department and the “techs” are all just sitting around twiddling their thumbs because they can’t do anything without being told what to do without engineering support.

Same with my 3rd gen Tacoma. They don't tear things down and pay a tech to troubleshoot assemblies. They scan for diagnostic codes, look at the parts related to the trouble code, and if an assembly isn't working right, they fire the parts cannon at it. And they absolutely don't warranty stuff that appears broken if it appears that you caused the damage. Especially if you have a youtube channel showing how you treat the vehicle. They'll deny the warranty coverage, quote the cost for the replacement part, and hand your keys back.

Not at my local Subaru dealers, they actually perform work, I had an issue with a brand new WRX that sums Subaru dealers took 4-5 times of the customer coming back to find the issue, but the dealer I use found the issue mid afternoon, and the put my car back together and got it on the road the next day, so it’s all about the dealer you go to, and a fraction of it is about the brand you get.

Like I said earlier, remove the fins, install a wire mesh to help keep debris from the radiators, and then ground the sensor so you don't throw a code. Simple, affective, I've done it to my 17 Z71 for the same reason (had very similar "ECO" fins.....blah) and it worked great and no longer had those silly engine codes for something that shouldn't be there to begin with.

It's probably more the dealer than GM.
Always call GM or any manufacturer for that matter when warranty work is denied by a dealer. Theres incentive for dealers wanting to charge you over accepting warranty work because the rate is lower on warranty work.
They can charge you more. If all else fails, yeah see if you cant fix it yourself or take it to an independent mechanic who will likely be cheaper and would likely come to the same conclusion as in popping it in.
I only ever go to dealer service centers for basic maintenance and warranty work. If something more serious is going on I'm looking elsewhere to work on my vehicle.

My 2016 Taco was a constant PITA with all the issues it had. This truck had a plastic shutter jammed up because he dove the front end into a water hole in a previous video. The paperwork was from way back in November when he was doing that stuff. The dealer handled it poorly. They refuse to admit that there are problems with the new axles they started using on 3rd gen Tacomas. There are guys with brand new Tundras with blown engines that have had to fight with their Toyota dealer to get the engine replaced. I had a 3rd gen Tacoma and that truck was a disaster when it comes to longevity. There are tons of problems with them. The 4runner is an old model so it does better when it comes to reliability rankings, but when it gets totally redesigned, there will be trouble, just like the Tacoma and Tundra. Tacoma went from being at the top of CR's reliability ratings to be last in reliability and it stayed at the bottom for like 3 or 4 years in a row.

Chevy deserves to be called out for this, any mechanic worth their salt should have seen how easy it would've been to pull that part out and see if it can be fixed. I deal with this at work all the time, nobody wants to fix a part they just want to replace it. Even then, the bureaucracy and paperwork takes more time than just fixing it to begin with. I bet more man hours were spent intaking your truck and then fighting with you to say it wouldn't be covered than it would've taken it just fix it right away.
I have a '23 ZR2 and this looks like a part that could easily get jammed, especially if I take it off road. Thanks for making a video on how easy it is to pull it out and pop it back into place. Hopefully some company comes up with a product to remove the fins and fake out the computer.

Why does "Chevy" deserve to be called out for something that a DEALER and a service manager did? BTW Chevy isn't a company, it's a brand name and a logo that GM puts on their vehicles.

Get a ranger raptor, but they are hard to get right now. I went to 3 different dealers 3 weeks ago to see about getting one and I ended up buying another Colorado zr2 its a 2022 had 7000 miles on it. it is like brand new. I still have my 2021 Colorado zr2 its a extended cab the 2022 is a crew cab both are sand dune metallic and I put the same lift on both and same tires and my off road camper is sand dune matellic ,then last week I went and bought a Yamaha RMAX 1000 XTR and ir the same color my neighbors are looking like what the f---k LOL

It doesn't prove a thing. You bought a first year truck. Because you have to have the latest and greatest I guess. I have rule in buying new vehicles never buy year one. GM had a lot of software issues with these twins. Especially the over the air updates. Your problem is common and if you had a good dealership covered! Issues in new vehicles isn't a new thing. Ford completely screwed up the Bronco role out. and is just now getting that all worked out.

On top of them not covering warranties for shit like this. Been hearing the same complaints from people here in Missouri. It’s ok to have a brand that isn’t reliable but they can’t screw the customer out of their warranty.
