    Transmission failure at 9000 miles is absolutely ridiculous!!! Why are Americans putting up with this shit!? And also GM not covering this under warranty?! That’s mad outrageous!

    I’m taking my 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 (Gunmetal grey) in tomorrow to install a 4” BDS lift kit, 33x12.5x17 Yokohama Geolandars MT tires, and 17x9 Fuel Rebel 6 D680 +1 wheels. I can’t tell you how many hours of video I’ve watched from this channel definitely giving me much inspiration to pull the trigger. The ZR2 was never a raptor/TRX competitor. It’s a rebel and tremor competitor. It’s not in any of the same classes of the raptor and trx other than pricing which is crazy.

      Their pricing strategy is what’s F’d up. GMs used to have huge discounts off sticker. And that’s where they made sense. At sticker they’re just to close to better trucks.

    • @Mill72
      @Mill72 Рік тому +12

      It falls in the middle of Rebel/Tremor and Raptor/TRX. Better shock package than the wannabe Rebel/Tremor and not enough shock performance for Raptor/TRX from factory. Also small tires.

      @@Mill72 while I agree the rebel is practically worthless. The tremor is meant to close the in between gap of being able to tow and still be capable offroad. It's not just an offroad oriented truck

    I just purchased a 2024 with the Duramax. I owned both the gen 2 Raptor and tremor. I traded in a 23 Colorado ZR2 for my Silverado. I had issues with and warranty so switched to Chevy. The Colorado was great until our family grew. The Silverado ZR2 has definitely been a nice upgrade for the week we’ve had it. The fuel mileage is the biggest surprise. Averaging 25 mix driving with a rack and roof top tent. Power to anyone that owns any off road truck. Get out there and enjoy it make memories!

    I just bought my 23 ZR2 loaded with 20k miles and certified preowned for $58,000. Although the powertrain is in comparison to a rebel or a tremor. The features, look and quality of the interior and exterior are the same caliber of a TRX and raptor. Very happy with the price I paid. But I would not spend the 74+ for new.

    • @lrn_news9171
      @lrn_news9171 Місяць тому

      I would pick the Duramax for sure. It outperforms the 2.7 and even the 5.3 in some ways, basically the same towing capabilities as the 5.3 except with much better gas mileage. The 2.7 is a capable engine, most people don't need more than that but the issue is that the 2.7 actually gets pretty shitty gas mileage, the 3.0 gets better gas mileage than all of these other options, including the turbocharged 4 banger.

Yes, they are a bit on the pricey side, but ALL trucks are expensive right now and they keep that value. Try looking for a clean OBS Chevy and see how expensive they are.

You get 300lb ft of torque more in the zr2 HD. For just 2k more. Not to mention more cab space. So it may not be able to handle the beating. a raptor can take off road. However it's definitely the truck that can come deep in the mud and get the raptor out.

    IDK about the fullsize segment but in the midsize department Colorado ZR2's are the complete package compared to the rest. Less than a Ranger Raptor, and while a weaker HP still shares the same torque rating. The raptor also has coil suspension which is good for off-road of course, but makes it a useless truck as it literally cannot tow anything (I've seen this first hand). Raptor is more of and off-road toy than a usable truck. And to combat that the new Bison pack that's coming out should just flat out beat it at off-roading on paper at the cost of dropping it's tow rating to the same as the raptor. They have the high trim midsize class basically conquered at this point. They only have one competitor except they have better trim options for what you need the truck for.

Towing is about 7.5 gallons per mile and GM is terrible at warranty honoring. I traded my 2020 Trail Boss because I got tired of replacing the back window every 6 months at the cost of $2000 each time. That is a high cost of ownership for a paid off truck that was 3 years old. So far I love this ZR2. It rides great, it off roads incredibly well, and it looks good coming and going!

    I think the problem is there are too many lemons out there that makes the truck look bad. When Chevrolet released it last year, there were some new things that haven't been there before and there might be some problems that occur.
    But, hot take here, I think Chevy probably saw what was going on with the 2022 model year and tried to improve it for 2023. I still think it's a great truck and I still intend on buying it, but there are more lemons out there than good ones. That's how I see the situation, but if you disagree, that is fine. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions because this is America.
